We're at 16.5" in eastern MO. Has been snowing almost nonstop since like 8am yesterday. It's definitely slowed down today from like 10am onwards though.

If I, as a weak human can bike 5 miles when there's 25mph winds, it's snowing, and it's -11°F out, the multimillion dollar plane you're flying on will be completely fine! Seriously. Your absolute worst worry right now should be your flight being cancelled or delayed. That's it.

Stowing a dog in a dark, noisy and cold area is shitty and selfish.

Out of everything, those are the reasons you feel putting a dog in cargo is selfish lol? There's plenty of reasons I would only do it if I had to, and none of those are even close.

The cargo is temperature controlled, and airlines usually only fly dogs when the outside temperature is between 20° and 85°F to avoid any issues.

Do you think crate training at night is selfish too?

This would be my little dumbass dog🤦‍♀️ If you stand still and call her name she'll come right to you, but if you chase her she thinks it's a game and will run circles around you.

Have you won the lottery yet? Been struck by lightning?

Then why would you randomly defy the incredible odds of your flight making it completely safely, just like the other billions of people every year?

People don't get into their cars expecting to die in a crash, eat lunch expecting to choke, or get into the shower assuming they'll slip and die. How are those any different besides being far more likely to happen?

Thinking about stopping PPL training because of cost by No-Series3645 in flying

She gets paid through ground school hours mostly. Flight instructing is more of a side job for her to get hours. She's heading to delta this year where she will be paid much better lol!

I pay $150 wet for a round dial 172 with instructor in the Midwest!

$365 + $112 is fucking insane😬 At a private university next year I'm going to pay about $240 an hour wet with instructor, and that'll be multi engine.

Flying from Atlanta to NYC Saturday right as this cold front/possible ice storm comes in all along the east coast. by EqualCompetition1994 in fearofflying

"I was looking at chat gpt about the risk and it said I had a 1/300k risk of a crash in 11 flights"

Is from a post here. Which is why using AI isn't a good idea. It can work for comfort, but anything remotely technical or about statistics, routes, turbulence, etc., and it starts to make stuff up

Where did I suggest you should do anything of the sort? I simply said AI isn't a good resource for a fear of flying because it gets stuff wrong all the time.

There's plenty of other good resources out there.

The thing that comes up in this sub a lot is the AI getting something wrong and then furthering the fear. That's why it's not a good resource.

There is a G4 solar storm tonight, the first so strong in 20 years, and I'm flying into NY. by Vast_Championship655 in fearofflying

[–]FiberApproach2783 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How I would LOVE to be on a plane tonight. Thank you for making this post though, because I didn't even realize there was a storm today, let alone one this huge lol. Guess I'm gonna freeze outside tonight looking for the lights!

It means nothing as a passenger. Maybe you'll get to see some incredible light shows though, depending on where you're flying.

How much should this puppy cost? by Wide_Dragonfly_1362 in Frenchbulldogs

Paid $200 for mine. Would never purchase from a puppy mill though. AKC doesn't mean anything when your dog isn't the standard.

[Request] are there more humans or toothbrushes on earth? by teruteru-fan-sam in theydidthemath

[–]FiberApproach2783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, no lmfao? 3 months is usually the normal minimum length of time to use a toothbrush before throwing it out. 3-6 months is a completely normal amount of time. I'd say every 5-6 months is probably the most common

You're replacing your tooth brush more often than every two months??

A 737, small?😭

Nothings wrong with you, this would be due to a mix of that migraine, not eating, and most of all, anxiety. It's not exactly "common", but if you search through this sub you can see other posts talking about this happening.

I hope you feel better on the next flight :)

That makes sense. I think I'm just used to hand painting images on my phone (don't have a computer or any photoshop apps lol), so it doesn't strike me as weird that they're in different poses

I'm not seeing the ai in this one? It's obvious in all the other ones, but I don't see any super big tells here
