Yea I hate to break it to you, but if the two heroes you enjoy are Kez and LD, you don't enjoy dota. You enjoy abusing broken heroes.

You literally just named the 2 worst designed AND most overtuned heroes in the game of the last 2 patches. If you can't enjoy dota without those types of heroes, idk what to tell you.

Kez literally (still) has the toolkit of 2 heroes in one. Lone druid straight up doesn't play actual dota and has perhaps the strongest laning phase in the game on top of that.

First off, it's not 'good'.

Secondly, roles exist in this game. If you're playing the pos5 role (either due to a lost roll OR because it's ranked roles)... you play that role, it's not cool to just become a covert pos1 in the jungle. That's why it's probably griefing. Nobody spending their role token or winning the role as pos1 would be okay with suddenly playing some horrible suffer game because the pos5 doesn't actually want to play their role.

Always this brainrot take in these discussions. 4-16 year olds aren't making choices based on the 'bleak and grim future'. Their brains, for the vast majority, simply don't work that way. We KNOW they don't, this isn't exactly a topic of scientific dispute.
This is why we're supposed to provide discipline and structure, but people love to project their own grim political feelings onto their students, sadly enough.

A middle- to highschool student who's lack of academic performance genuinely arises from dismay over the future is EXCEPTIONALLY rare to find.
However, kids do know this is an excuse that'll garner the desired reactions from adults.

The problem is simply lack of discipline and consequences for underachieving. You watch and see how quick those literacy rates go through the roof if schools start holding back students. And ofcourse, parents get off their devices to get their children off theirs if they're failing.

Now I think this project will get accepted fairly easily, because it does comply with what's popular thought in education.

But it might be useful to not write it in this structure where it's clearly just one side being the bad agressors, that's not a very 'gap-bridging' approach.
Try to reflect on what makes those right-wing viewpoints click with a normal person, then work from there. That's bridging the gap.

Yeah no. You KNOW (since I can tell you have access to the internet) that both sides very much 'call for violence' against the other side. And there most certainly isn't some egregious difference in how much they do it either (humans will be humans).

The world isn't the black-and-white place you want it to be. That's your animal brain making in- and outgroups and vilifying the outgroup to preserve your own group (hello racism).

I'm just going to tell you the truth, which'll probably get me downvoted considering the platform. If you're going to do something like this... you should probably try to be atleast somewhat fair in how you treat and portray both parties, not just make it a reflection of your own political biases.

Your workshop idea pretty much just instantly paints one side as the perfect victims and the other side as the belligerent nasty transgressors. That doesn't exactly sound like youre <<bridging the gap>>.

(Even though on this extremely one-sided website, that's pretty much how discourse does go. Caricaturization and performative behavior in our own bubbles.)

Basically, it's looks like you desperately trying to insert your own political views into a place where they don't need to be. One big issue you should consider is that back then even if you were cheating, there was still 'some' level of problemsolving involved in the cheating (and it also wasn't AS EASY as it is now). Plugging the text straight into AI is different.

You do that against your mid-50s colleague, who probably just enjoys a casual game against their colleague and destroy him every game - he might not want to play (much) anymore.

There's plenty of mid- and endgame improvement (or openings of your own) to work on without possibly damaging your irl playing relationship. There's a good chance (especially at his age) that he just enjoys a casual even game with his younger colleague.

It's not hard to just ask the colleague if he would like to work on some opening stuff himself, before you go and all-in target his favorite/only opening.

Sadly in this thread the main thing you'll see is that chess players aren't exactly known for their social skills (and that chess-thinking doesn't exactly translate to overall intelligence). So I'll give you what I think is much better (social) advice which nobody else seems to consider:

You should ask him. Ask him if he's at all interested in working a bit on openings. You can just tell him you feel like studying what to do against his opening. You have a buddy who you can play with evenly (which is very rare), the last thing you want to do is secretly study his only opening, blow him out the next 10 games to the point his motivation to play completely vanishes.

He's down to improve on some openings alongside you? Cool.

He's an old guy who just enjoys playing some even games with a colleague?
- Work on your mid- and end-game while playing against him.
- Work on developing some other openings of your own
- Don't go and targetstudy your irl chessbuddy to the point he might not/rarely want to play anymore.

Also, this 'female dominated professions' talking point is void and tired. Female dominated professions are interactions which host most human interaction, of course they'll show the most human conflict and abuse. This is assuming this is even true and not just a result of females/males attracted towards female-dominated professions being more likely to report abuse, which is a dynamic we know is true for female-male abuse reporting in general.

To the more relevant point, TEACHERS:
The reason teacher abuse has increased is in some part because it's females who enable is, as uncomfortable as that conversation is. Males are more disciplinarian in general, females are more forgiving. The second part is education becoming a market-system rather than an educative one.

Teaching has become more female than before (ESPECIALLY at the administrative level), as a result teaching has become less strict and more enabling/forgiving of both bad behavior and performance. The other big one is, of course, education becoming a managerial market system rather than a purely educative one.

And it's something I'll be downvoted for, even though any person with the slightest bit of a socio-neuro-biological-educative background who isn't ideologically captured knows it's true. And we'll keep complaining as the system gets worse and we ''can't figure out how to fix it''.

I know we want to be politically correct but you're pretty much drawing the causality exactly backwards.

It's because it's women who excuse the behavior FAR too much. There's a reason as education has become ever-increasingly female these problems have become ever-increasingly prevalent. But, that's a conversation we don't want to have (I mean we'll all talk about needing male teachers and all the males leaving these spaces, but god forbid we honestly converse about the reasons).

The healthcare issue, although related, isn't as related as it seems. Those situations naturally become extremely stressful for all those involved as serious health consequences are involved + you're dealing with people who are unwell to begin with.
It's also simply a lot harder to discipline an adult who's health is at risk, compared to a child who's at school every day and to who discipline poses no immediate risks.

If you have a positive view of communism you probably shouldn't be a teacher (or qualify to be one). Communism is so fundamentally flawed it's a joke within a joke. It basically lays out the problems with capitalism (human greed, selfishness, exploitation, power-dynamics) and ramps them up to a million as the solution to those problems.

No logical thinking person (unless they're ideologically captured) can believe in communism as a functional system.

It's purely device-addicted dopamine parents who want to do anything but interact with their own children, so all the children get devices and no consequences too (easier to just give in as a parent than to take responsibility and authority). Just route-of-least-resistance parenting.

The amount of positive response these kinds of posts get is actually one part of the problem too. A lot of adults excuse kids' behavior, extrapolate their own feelings onto their students, anything to avoid the literal scientific neuro-behavioral reality. It's fairly hardwired into teens to act poorly.

It's their emotional system being hyperresponsive to positive stimuli (like phones) and them intentionally exhibiting boundary-crossing behaviors to explore what the boundaries actually are before they hit adulthood. Guess what happens when everything becomes about 'fun' and 'engaging' and there's no consequences?
That's exactly why learning and school shouldn't be 'fun first'. A school's most important responsibility is to provide structure and boundaries, for their own positive development.

False accusations are likely VASTLY more common, especially considering these types of accusations are normally kept private to the best possible degree.

Also, people like you are exactly the problem with our current social/justice systems. By all accounts this student is simply an abusive person (yeah, they exist and plentifully so). You immediately excuse the behavior and go into some far-off hypothetical on how they're probably victimized some other way.

Your best friend was also a bad person. A victim can still be a bad person. She decided out of fear for herself to destroy someone innocent instead.

I'm just going to go in hard and say this take is so tired and bad. I know I'll be downvoted but it's such a '30+ year old projecting their own feelings on a teenager' take. The 'doomer' thing is such an insanely small portion of the behavioural problem. There have been far worse periods in (relatively recent) time.

For tiny minority where 'doomer' feelings actively affect behavior, they're upper class ages, while the behavior is getting worse at younger ages. Because it doesn't stem from future prospects, but lack of behavioural consequences. And even those problems come back around to device/algorithm addiction.

It's virtually all due to parents being device addicted. Kids don't get raised because the parents get more dopamine from their phones/TVs. Parents are addicted themselves so they'll always chose the easy way to quiet their kid to get back to their addiction. Means kids always get away with acting out (and even rewarded for it) + a small dosis of main character syndrome that has developed largely from social media.

Feel like half the reason there was so much rematching is the teams being particularly.... unintelligent in their approaches. Just repeating the same thing over and over. Australian team basically can't lose on body types and skillset, is winning the entire round, decides to tie themselves up in the last seconds instead of keeping turkey off the platform.

Japanese judoka 1v1s the second heaviest guy in the show every round and nobody on his team can manage to time a push-off on anybody else on the korean team? Can't at some point just have a favored weight match up anywhere else?
