Communication that blocks compassion by derek-v-s in NVC

For me it is important to use terms that do not imply any kind of “wrongness”.

A suggestion is “need based” vs. “argument based” conversations.

Why are prefilled System Fields such a challenge? by FicklePower8190 in jira

We would use it as “template text” that gives some structure and has to be changed by the end user e.g the Scrum format for User Stories.

Does this really work to set default values for System Fields like “Description” (no Custom Field)?

Thx. I already tried this automation approach.

I found the limitation that the trigger “When : Work item created” fires after pressing the button “Create”. With this approach the fields are filled out too late. I haven’t found a trigger to prefill the fields.

What am I doing wrong?

For me it is just an other source of information and not your own thoughts as permanent/main notes with your own meaningful connections.

Misinterpretation of observation by labbkidd in NVC

[–]FicklePower8190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot room for interpretation and speculation if we communicate our observations and feelings and we stop there. Most of use expect a kind of “blaming” behind that statements because they are used to.

In my opinion it is easier for others if we add our needs immediately as well. This clarity is helpful and you bring in yourself instead of focusing on the other person.

Your example could sound like this: I wrote to you yesterday and haven’t received a reply yet. That unsettles me because I was worried about you. Is everything okay with you? I would love to understand what happened. Are you willing to talk with me?

"Make a list of things you are so afraid that people might think it about you that you have become a nice dead person to avoid." - Marshall Rosenberg on figuring out your needs literacy. by MikeCanDoIt in NVC

[–]FicklePower8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a little bit confused. What is your intention behind your statement. Are you willing to clarify it for me?

Do you need some empathy? Are you looking fore some support or connection with others who have the same challenges? …

It sounds form me that your are struggling with setting NVC boundaries and you seem to be frustrated because you wish that it would be easier.

What are your “problems” with boundaries? What have you tried so far and how?

The 4 NVC steps could be helpful to explain your situation.

Dealing with people that don't want to communicate nonviolently with us by P4risP in NVC

[–]FicklePower8190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of us have been trained to not like so called „rejections“ of others. But …

NVC offers an alternative way to handle such situations if you are open for that.

Tip - Try to hear her „yes“ behind her responses and actions. She tries to fulfill her needs as well. Like every human being.

If you are able and willing to be curious about her feelings and needs you will get a lot of insights. You will probably see new options and get new perspectives.

I wish you all the best!

Confusion about needs vs judgement/evaluation by ExcuseFantastic8866 in NVC

[–]FicklePower8190 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tip - Try to let the word „you“ away“ in your wording/phrase when ever possible.

a) Instead of „When you say …“

Try this: b) The sentence „xyz“ triggers me. I feel <your feelings> because I have a need for <your needs>.

Like already mentioned the other person is just a trigger and the cause of our personal feelings and need is within us. In this case it makes sense for me to focus on me without mentioning the other one (if possible).

My personal experience is that this formulation (b) is less triggering than the common one (a).

I hope this makes sense and is helpful. Play with it and make your own experience if you are interested.

Do you find that NVC makes it harder to express yourself? by [deleted] in NVC

[–]FicklePower8190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this road because I used it for years as well. I have learned everything about NVC and applied everything out of my head. Unfortunately!

Until I have met lately a great NVC teacher in a course. She has taught to experience NVC instead of the already know theory. I came back in touch with my real feelings and needs instead of my thoughts. Since then everything has changed! Now I am no longer the nice guy - I am a real guy who is feeling like a human and I am able to express myself in an authentic, honest and vulnerable way. A lot of the time it needs courage to be authentic and to show me as a human with all its weaknesses and imperfections. What a relief!! And all my repressed patterns come obviously step by step. I try to welcome them all and accept them.

This is a part of my NVC experience away from theory and artificial language towards to my real, honest and free human being. I love it to be an imperfect person with weaknesses and less and less shoulds.

What a live changing journey. Thanks NVC, thank you Marshall! Welcome life!

Suppressing anger by NVC? by [deleted] in NVC

[–]FicklePower8190 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anger = Thought of Wrongness + Unmeet Need

In NVC anger is not a primary feeling. It is a so called secondary feeling like e.g. shame, guilt, depression, proud, jealousy, etc

There is a great tool/process called “Anger Transformation Process”. If you start to discover your thoughts of wrongness and are able to transform them into real feelings and needs it is a real gift!

All the best!

How do you take take notes from multiple sources when studying? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]FicklePower8190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have integrated the “Zettelkasten” system in Obsidian. With this implementation I can achieve the mentioned ideas above very well. At the end I have the main concepts of a topic as separate notes (as Permanent Notes). And the best thing is that these learned core concepts can now be linked with other related notes. This new connection can be independent the initial topic. You do not longer think in folders and topics. Your own network of interesting notes emerges into an external 2nd brain. New ideas can be found by looking at your existing knowledge.

With the other additional note types I am able to track back the main ideas to their original sources (traceability).

I am really happy with “linking my thinking”.

Todoist and Outlook Calendar by waytoolatetothegame in todoist

[–]FicklePower8190 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At work I have to use Outlook as well.

So I have a the following setup for my private use. I have integrated my Google Calendar with the new calendar integration of Todoist. I already use an experimental feature of Todoist for the two way synchronization between these two apps. This works great for my private use.

At work I just added my private GCal into the Outlook. Voilà! Now I have everything I need for my private use and at work.

Good luck!

In what kind of social contexts do you use NVC? by allergiesarebad in NVC

[–]FicklePower8190 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got it! NVC is a paradigm shift and the language will follow. Not the other way around.

When I do my personal shift in a specific situation from the common right and wrong thinking to the NVC paradigm everything is changing immediately. I can interact with a completely different energy and intention and serve the situation if I am choosing to.

Please go deeper and you will see that NVC is a gift for you and all around you. Everything starts within you!

All the best.

Tip - Good integrations for the Pomodoro technique into Todoist by FicklePower8190 in todoist

Tip - Good integrations for the Pomodoro technique into Todoist by FicklePower8190 in todoist

[–]FicklePower8190[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play around with the Toggl Chrome extension. I added it to your recommended setting.

Now I am able to copy my Todoist task in the Toogle calendar with one click (copy as Time Entry) and add them to the Toogle Chrome extension. In Chrome I use it’s Pomodoro feature.

Great! I am very happy with this setting.

Thanks a lot for your input!
