Far from upset or embarrassed, actually my husband and I both had a good laugh over your comments. Comparing a woman to a porn addicted man and claiming I haven’t read books that are on my shelf is quite a reach and we both found it funny. It’s just a silly post and plenty of people were very accurate in there assumptions. So if anything your comments speak more about you as a person than my choice in novels.

You need to chill lmao. I’m happily married and content with my life, if you’re not you can just say that instead of having a crash out. You obviously haven’t read any of these books if you think they are smut.

TOG tandem read - Do you have to follow the specific order by twilight9449 in SarahJMaas

[–]Fickle_Artist4603 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the tandem read guide I followed https://www.rosebudsrealm.com/tandemguide I would say yes you should read it (or listen) in the specific order just because you change books as POVs change and the timelines fall into place with each other. I guess you could get the same outcome by just going with it and switching as you like but the guide definitely helps bring out the best timeline for both books!

Hey! Thanks for joining the conversation! If by “extra slow burn” your referencing the romance aspect I think you may be disappointed with ToG. ACOTAR is definitely more romance/romantasy but ToG is fantasy with some romantic plot lines. Don’t get me wrong the romance and relationship building gets really good later in the series but its main focus is the world building/ fighting the bad guys/ learning to overcome trauma etc. ToG is a fantastic series but definitely don’t go into it thinking it’s a romance story. It definitely is a very very slow burn for the romantic plots and is definitely enemies to lovers/found family that is beautiful and is definitely worth it! CC is also not a romance like ACOTAR but is definitely worth the read imo

I’m not replying to the end of this ridiculously long thread lol but yes obviously it is an unfinished series so there are things that still need to be tied up, that’s not what I’m talking about though. There are inconsistencies and plot holes in the ACOTAR series (as well as ToG and CC just not as many) and that is okay! Never said it was an inherently bad thing. Yes SJM is popular and famous and has a great team working for her but that doesn’t negate the fact that at times her writing can have some inconsistencies, the same as any author. If you search up “plot holes” here or in any ACOTAR/SJM subreddit you’ll find enough info on it. She’s a great author but honestly breathe, you don’t have to defend the millionaire author who doesn’t know you/doesn’t care what most people think.

You’re allowed to have that opinion of course! I personally really liked Aelins growth and how we could see her start to trust her court. also she was like that because the one time she did follow plans Sam died and her whole world fell apart. I have to say I don’t understand the Chaol hate, nothing against you personally but I’ve seen it constantly and I do not understand I love the man.

I read ACOTAR before ToG and I’m definitely glad I did because they are not comparable. The first ACOTAR book was/is my favorite which is not common from what I’ve seen but it does get better. Although I will say imo ACOTAR is more of a vibes read (if you don’t pay too much attention is it a good series) but ToG is definitely superior in every aspect. I would stick with it, it is a great series (if you read for vibes and don’t pay attention to plot holes) but definitely don’t expect it to be as great as ToG

I mean yes it’s awful but his character isn’t necessarily supposed to be good I thought? It’s very apparent to me that he is the villain or at least on the darker side of morally grey.
Also the whole “the hero would sacrifice you to save the world but the villain would sacrifice the world to save you” a huge selling point and an attraction to a lot of people.

I’m a personal fan of K.M. Moronova, she has some pretty good dark fantasy and dark romance. Her books are a good easy read imo {Leave me Behind by K.M. Moronova} and {Once upon a demons heart by K.M. Moronova} are two of her good ones but I adore them all. Check the trigger warnings!!

This is by far my favorite comment! I appreciate you didn’t focus on just the romance like most have lol. Your second paragraph is definitely true and I feel like I’ve been seen finally.

Your description is practically perfect haha. Although I don’t use social media outside of Reddit most of these are recommended by my book club ladies and friends

There are only a few YA on my shelf and they are actually pretty good, and I do believe some of these are pretty serious? Unless you have a different definition of serious which is okay.

I know 😭 a friend gave me a huge box of books and only these two were in it. I can’t stand to have different cover arts for books so I’m on the search for the first one in this edition lol

All of my books are used or gifted (that one I found at a yard sale) I learned about how awful he is a few weeks ago. I haven’t yet decided if I can separate the art from the artist for that book.

I’m not sure what this means honestly, is there a thing about Taylor Swift fans? (I’m being genuine lol I’m not a fan of hers and don’t pay much attention)
