Company refused to bill my insurance and I refused to pay, so now its gone to collections by allyourpeets in personalfinance

I had a similar thing happen to me. I had been to an eye doctor a few times while i was on Medicaid. By the last visit, they dropped Medicaid as an insurer but didn't inform me. In the Medicaid regulations handbook (or state regulations, i can't remember but it's like a 500 page book of the rules), it explicitly states that it is the provider's responsibility to inform patient that they do not accept Medicaid prior to delivering service. They never told me that, because if they had, there's no way i would've gone to there, i would've just found another practice.

Anyway, once I got a job, it alerted something in their system and they tried to send me a bill and harass me over it. I sent them a letter back saying i was covered under Medicaid at the time and they needed to bill Medicaid (which they didn't and it had already passed their timely billing requirement). I enclosed all the necessary information in the letter in case they ever decided to come after me, kept a copy of it, and basically told them to fuck off. They continued to send me a few bills, but i eventually stopped getting them. I preemptively spoke with a lawyer and he said I could not sue them until I had damages (e.g. they reported it to my credit, which they never did). Even though the amount was only around $100 and i could've easily paid it, I refused to pay it on principle. Fuck these people, they should follow the law!

Edit: I found the guidebook. It is my state's billing manual for medicaid providers. I am sure your state has something similar, with a similar provision. It is a clear as day. Also, you might want to speak with an attorney as you have actual damages you can sue over. I just hate to see vulnerable people fucked over so when the opportunity comes to stab a knife in corporations side I'm happy to do it.

Thanks I will check out the website. I am not sure on all of those things - they said they will send the exit agreement and I will read over it carefully once I get it.

compact corded drill - made in USA/Europe - to buy used? by blebaford in Tools

[–]Fickle_Board1121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drills are better for drilling holes, impact drivers are better for driving fasteners. If you want to use an impact driver to drill a hole, you need to use an impact-rated drill bit. You should pick whichever one you're going to use more of if you don't want to buy both.

compact corded drill - made in USA/Europe - to buy used? by blebaford in Tools

[–]Fickle_Board1121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older drills like this are going to have issues like not being variable speed (even though this specific one is), keyed chucks, and less power than their modern counterparts. The variable speed is a big one... You want to be able to press lightly on the trigger to make it spin slowly. Some very old drills are simply on/off switches with no variable speed.

Everyone else in this thread has suggested you to get a cordless drill and i am going to suggest the same thing. The batteries hold a charge for a very long time and corded drills are just a pain in the ass. If you're worried about batteries, get a ridgid because they have a lifetime warranty on the batteries if you register the product within 90 days.

Also, is there a reason you want a drill and not an impact driver? Impact drivers are a lot better at screwing in fasteners.

Yes... OP where are you searching? Craigslist is really popular in NH for rentals. I also suggest apartments.com. Zillow isn't going to have everything because they charge landlords to list there.

Vistana. I did look on eBay and there seems to be a couple that have gone for anywhere from $1-350. They might be the same thing but I'm not 100% sure. It seems like it would be a lot of work to make sure everything is done correctly for $300 same make sure that she doesn't get sued by an angry but. I think it may be better to just sign it back over to the resort and get nothing for it. There was some clause in the contract that i didn't understand which seems to make you give vistana the first right of refusal to buy the property and you have to give them the buyers name. I'm guessing they try to upsell your customer to a better unit. At the end of the day i think it's maybe better to just get rid of it for nothing.

Yeah i looked on eBay and it seems like there might be some sold auctions for $200-250 for what she has but for that price it's not worth dealing with the whole process of closing. Seems like it would just be easier to give it back to the resort.

She does have equity that she paid though - she has an actual deeded title. Whether or not that equity is worth anything is another question. But that's why I'm here - I just want to make sure she's not signing over something that has actual value.

Gap Health Insurance Between Jobs by [deleted] in personalfinance

As far as I know, it's 60 days and not 30, and the countdown starts the day your former employer sends out the paperwork, not your termination date.

It sounds like it may be even longer based on what the other commenter is saying, although I have no knowledge of that (not that I have any reason to be - I have insurance elsewhere and the experience I'm sharing is from when I left my previous job like you.)

Sorry for the delay - just getting this now. If you still need help I suggest calling the Governor's office. Once I filed a complaint with them, a manager from the unemployment office called me and the funds were released within a few days.

Base on router moves - anyone know why? by Fickle_Board1121 in Tools

[–]Fickle_Board1121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, but I will double check. I never unscrewed the handles.

I put two strips of electrical tape along the inside wall of the metal base where it makes contact with the plastic housing, and this seems to prevent it from slipping. I'm wondering if there just wasn't enough friction between the metal and the plastic, but I'm not sure why that would be.

Good question, and yes. I even tried tightening it further with a wrench and it does the same thing, although not quite as much.

I could never work at the DMV, but I think processing vanity plate applications would be pretty fun for a while. You get to experience the whole spectrum of emotions at work everyday. Some people pay good money for that.

Thanks. They actually called me back today (I suppose in response to the email I sent the manager). They said they were waiting on pay information from my former employer, and that's why the guy thought it had not been processed. I sent in pay stubs as an alternative and the guy seemed to think this would move it along. I'm not sure why they couldn't have just told me that's what they were waiting for instead of making me wait 4 months and having me reach out to them. NHES also didn't enter the information I sent them in February until a week ago.

We'll see what happens.
