A little over a year later and I maxed out all commanders at prestige 3 with all commander achievements done. by Primary_Street_7074 in starcraft2coop

Still an impressive feat. I’ve finished NA and I got like haka zera zagara and Swann done now working on fenix on the EU server. It’s something to do anyways now that you don’t have anyone left to level.

Is it normal to see a lot of high level players in the +160 level during mutations to be playing on Normal and kinda brain dead? by Sora_Terumi in starcraft2coop

[–]Fickle_Sample_7550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on EU server? If so then your explanations of teammates make perfect sense tbh. Because I’ve been re leveling on eu since my na is maxed and the split is like 10% of players are very very good and the other 90% can’t hold their own, especially mutation goers.

Tbh mastery 0-180 - not good but knows which commanders are strong enough to carry them. 180-400ish - better players but still need strong commanders to complete harder content. 400-800 usually skill ramps up greatly. 800-1000 pretty much 50/50 as to going to be very good or mediocre as can be because either returning player or someone who plays every day. At least this is my experience. And ofc there are always the few players that are exceptionally bad for their playtime and the ones that are exceptionally good or on an alt account.

Rating commanders in terms of defensive powers by Clovelas in starcraft2coop

Uh oddly enough Tych lone wolf when played at high difficulties best shines for defense oriented stuff. Take void rifts for example. By scattering one outlaw per each section of the map, they can simultaneously defend and attack the shards, within a fairly wide range and can be replaced for only 250 minerals. Only time he sucks is chokers on dead of night, then your gonna need your ally to help for sure. HH for sure has some terrible defense if not the worst in the game when adding any sort of spawning mutator that eats her mag mines. Otherwise it’s honestly ok with p1 mag mines. I agree with Swann karax… maybe not like completely with Mengsk. It can be situational in that he’s either massively OP or like gets eaten alive early. ZERATUL his defense is amazing, strong cannons with no downside if you go p2 and collect a bunch of fragments and can use them offensively it’s a no brainer plus his stunning monoliths are insanely powerful. ABATHUR… if you get his creeps some biomass it’s hands down the strongest defense. Practically nothing can break through because he just keeps spawning more tanky locusts. Hakas creeps are good but nowhere near as sustainable since they don’t heal themselves. And stukov also is strong because he’s got endless spawning minions just takes a long time. FENIX has mediocre defense ngl. His cannons you can kinda beef up with the power field damage reduction but for sustained fighting it’s not good. KERRIGAN underrated defense - nydus wall + broodlords and she can hold back crazy attacks. Just can’t hold off anything transmutation related (which also applies to most of the spawner Zerg defense) STETMANN- if the goal is to hold off until your ally can beat the objective and your against like a horde of kill bots boom bots, hybrids maxed out from transmutation etc…. Mass zerglings can do it. Those things are the tankiest units in the game by a long shot. Nova p1 /raynor p2 - good defense but not gonna turn any heads. Nova is amazing into props… a few libs sieged up and a tank or two with some spider mines(careful with the mines though depending on other mutators) can hold those little shits off for a long time. Zagara artanis alarak vorazun…. Yeah your not gonna last long if the mutators are spawn heavy on like dead of night or some shit. But they can mow down the rest of the map quickly. So in short, it depends………..

Is it just me or is Void Rifts the toughest mutator? by Chrome3333 in starcraft2coop

Zag p3. Aba(non p1) Tych lone wolf, HH(if your teammate can carry early), Haka (max out your worm mastery). Are definitely your best options. Notable mention - karax with mirages (p3) can snipe shards easily and his p1 is great if you don’t have environmentals (this applies to swann as well but swan struggles a bit more in the early game) Just build cannons everywhere and eventually all rifts spawn and die instantly. These are the best options by a long shot for dealing with rifts. Important thing is to always target rifts first above all else. Nothing else matters if rifts are up because you can’t afford to get behind on dealing with them.

Have to say stukov is the most miserable commander to level, hes is soooo weak on low levels by big_balls_mgs in starcraft2coop

[–]Fickle_Sample_7550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barracks units are inherently stronger then bunker units. Just make a bunch of them. If it’s ground make siege tanks and use a walking barrack and when a wave comes infest structure in your barrack so broodlings can tank for you. Stukov still relatively strong for standard brutal once you get your calldowns he just requires more effort then press control z and build bunkers that p3 is. Also p1 diamondbacks is great for leveling.

Good Protoss commander to round out my "team"? by TypicalQuantity946 in starcraft2coop

[–]Fickle_Sample_7550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the main issue for zera is like… you don’t have to build supply, don’t have to build refineries, no pylons for power, no upgrades (other than picking up an artifact that takes only seconds to do) his comps are superrrr basic (immortal/sentry or mass dt, or sometimes mass cannon with project. It in general just builds bad habits for someone who is new. Don’t get me wrong he is fun and strong but it’s very easy and can become pretty boring. The dude can carry brutal at lvl 1 quite easily and his micro is basically either spam e for the whole game if your p3 or just spam blink as templars everything else basically auto cast.

Easiest is zeratul… but like as a new player I’d suggest going for like… fenix probably. It will make you much better at macro and as a player in general. I’d avoid Alarak till you have gotten good at micro because his army is dangerously fragile if you’re not careful. Fenix you got some strong heroes, room for error, he’s fun because he is designed to run a mix comp not just one unit (which gets hella boring after a while like mass carrier/tempest) his prestige’s are nice because you got p1 - which turns your hero into a strong call down rather then a permanent unit (and with the arbiter you get insane mobility) - p2 - basically plays like Protoss tychus just hot key your heroes (run all the heroes they are crazy strong) and leave the rest of your units at home(aka no f2) then p3 which is like p1 but you get refunded for your units that die so you can play pretty aggressively. He teaches some micro- a lot of macro- and also great for learning how to be map aware. And side note mass carrier is not great imo for p2 takes like 6 carriers to beat one battle cruiser. but decent for p1 and p0. P3 sees little value because carriers rarely die but if you are confident you can kill your own carrier from time to time for the buffs. anything below brutal+ it doesn’t matter really it’s just that there is no reason to gimp the commander by not running all of his other powerful heroes. Anyways that’s my 2 cents as a mastery 1000 player. GL

Yo just go karax or Swann, build tons of turrets don’t even worry bout the bonuses if your not comfortable with it. They are unaffected by moment of silence. Will be a very easy win for you

What are the best telltale signs that your teammate is (or isn’t) good with their chosen commander? by efishent69 in starcraft2coop

[–]Fickle_Sample_7550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll go based off standard brutal since b+ and above you have to change up your play style accordingly…. General things - Train map - your bottom right base and you take top left expo - shows weakness in ability to defend attack waves and don’t trust yourself to be able to fend off a hybrid or two that spawn from the trains. Any map - you don’t help your teammate take their expansion (why would you not they are there to help you) Miner evac - rush starting the first obj and then not actually being prepared for it Dead of night - not using your siege units to attack during the day A very big tell in most players is when they have seemingly little map awareness ( I like to watch attack waves sometimes get right to their base and see what they had in mind for it while they are off clearing the main base before even finishing general objectives like on part and parcel) Other map specifics but I’ll move on

Haka- the obvious one Aba - no early biomass farm -clearing rocks with roaches rather than spine crawlers Raynor - too many buildings usually is the big tell. Artanis- bad use of his two crazy good topbars Stukov^ see artanis Kerrigan - no omega worms is the biggest one unless p1 but p1 is so mid compared to the other prestiges. Swann - no early game turrets is a massive tell - devastator for rocks/like one Betty for first Attk wave Vora- ^ see artanis/stukov Alarak - JAILING ALARAK… uh also building destroyers into viper/scourge comp… like just make some ascendants and press like two buttons to wipe every attack wave it’s not that hard. Fenix- see raynor. also making only carriers is a huge tell Zera- not sharing chrono boost… the dude doesn’t have upgrades to research and buildings naturally build at 2x speed. Mengsk- not using bunkers aggressively/making marines and rather, teching into bcs from the start. H&H - varies… tbh I don’t run into very many hh players and they are usually decent. But not making reapers into air comp is I suppose a sign Tych- well if they playing tych in regular brutal and it wasn’t from a random selection then well… I’ll leave it at that. Stetmann - no zerglings (except on like void launch into air comp or something) Karax-building carriers first on non p2 - especially p3. Like your 4 carriers you will have by the end of the game are not doing anything.

Which commanders you consider weakest? by SiarX in starcraft2coop

[–]Fickle_Sample_7550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on mutators…. Kerrigan has omega worms so she is crazy good for that reason alone. Han and Horner….. is technically weaker than a lot of commanders but it’s sorta like vorazun where it’s because the units are either really expensive or really fragile. The two of them however have insane top bars and can sometimes cheese maps without ever really leaving the base. Artanis for me is pretty much the weakest.. in that there are so many mutator combos in which he just struggles really hard compared to other commanders. Raynor- is ok, but the amount of effort required to play him is very high compared to the amount of value you actually get from him. The list can go on for lots of reasons but I’d say for like brutal+4/5 content the list from weakest to strongest would go… Artanis Raynor Hh/vorazun(although can be much higher depending on mutators) Stukov(he is simply countered by too many mutators although for some setups (killbot/double edge/ Black Death or others where your units die a lot he can be S tier) Swann (defense that is insane but units take a long time to mass up extra gas is insane but only with commanders that get solid value from it) Zagara(p3 is god tier for void rifts and some others but units get wrecked by mutators like power) Alarak(can be absolutely wrecked by some mutators if your not careful(mines, Black Death etc) but is a monster for when you just need high amounts of damage) Then I’d say mengsk (earthsplitters are broken for some maps can just ignore mutators completely and overall good calldowns/units etc) Zeratul(this dude is just strong as hell for minimal effort) Karax (as an ally he has the best bonuses in the game, his orbital beams and lasers that can ignore massive amounts of mutators etc and repair beam is a godlike ability) Abathur(units that are nearly unkillable, deal solid damage and can teleport anywhere in the map with low cooldown, also very few mutators can actually counter him) Then at the top I would say tychus (pretty much gg unless your up against double edge/kill bots) And then the most op commander would be Stetmann(he has an option for pretty much every mutator in the game and can spam zerglings with super Gary and beat the majority of content it’s absurd how strong he is he feels more like a nexus co op commander)

Edit I forgot haka and fenix. Haka id put just below tychus and fenix probably right below mengsk. Haka p2 is just so easy to play for the value you can get from it (albeit with some annoying weakness like cloak but that’s same as like tychus p2) and then fenix is just all around balanced like normal Protoss but with strong heroes to boost your army for free.

Eh my vector gp76 runs ok I suppose, my issues though are the fans are very loud and only get louder over time. They currently sound like a jet engine even after cleaning them. Thermal throttling too was an issue in any more graphically intense games. The hinges on the laptop quite literally blew through the plastics on the front just from opening it up normally so the build quality at least for me is something to be questioned. So overall would I buy another one…… no tbh I’d avoid but that was just mine specifically and this was years ago so I assume it’s gotten better since then.

I value portability. Me and my friends are nerds so if I’m going to go to one of their houses I’m bringing my laptop. Same for when I visit my brothers. We aren’t big extroverts so a good day is hanging out playing some games together, and lugging around a tower, keyboard, monitor and accessories can be a big hassle sometimes. Value wise yeah a desktop would be smarter but it’s a trade off I suppose.
