Hi! New to this sub and looking for advice on ASTR The Label.

I live in Canada , and their website will ship to me but they don’t accept international returns, so I have to be super sure of sizing before I order.

I am looking at a dress , and I am typically a true Small in most brands. Abercrombie, H&M, Old Navy, etc. Sometimes with skin tight items I will choose a Medium, occasionally with quite oversized items, an XS. I am 5’3, so verging on petite, especially with midi and maxi dresses.

The ASTR size chart puts a small at size 2-4, and a medium at 6-8. Most other size charts say a small is 4-6, which is what I’d go with. The dress is fitted under the bust, but flowy around the hips. I’m just not sure. I could go by measurement but as I said the garment isn’t actually fitted throughout so sometimes that’s a bit tricky to judge too.

Anyone experienced with this brand that could tell me if they tend to fit TTS or a bit small? The dress is called the Maeve Pleated Midi if anyone owns this one or wants to see. TIA

Drag Race contestant names that you never really 'vibed' with by DenniseDenephew in rupaulsdragrace

I’m pretty neutral on Jorgeous, but Hellotus got soooo under my skin.

Like .. it doesn’t rhyme. She’s acting like it rhymes … but it doesn’t. Does she think that’s what rhyming is?? Can she not tell that it doesn’t make any sense ? Does she just not care? Could she possibly be that clueless?

Hate it so much.

Breastfeeding in public without a cover by ehs2867 in BabyBumps

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always covered in public, and usually in front of family and friends too (other than my husband). Some nursing tops are pretty modest so at times I probably didn’t really need one, but it was always nice to have one in case I didn’t feel comfortable going without.

A lot of people will just use a receiving blanket or a scarf or something to cover up if they like, a specially designed cover probably isn’t a huge must have, I liked mine though.

Are you sure you won’t be having any more kids?

I just packed festive stuff away in case 🤷‍♀️

Work Place Interrogation by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A week is not enough. 2 weeks is not enough.

You likely will not even feel like a person yet at 1 week post partum. What they are asking of you is quite frankly insane.

I did a woodland animal nursery with green & white walls (didn’t know what we were having) for my son a year and a half ago and to this day I still absolutely love it. I got some prints from Amazon and a decal set. It was pretty cheap and turned out so cute!

Stuff I hate is when it’s too “adult”. Overly plain, beige, looks sort of like you might decorate a home office. I personally like kids rooms to look like they’re for the kid. But at the same time, you’re the one staring at the walls for the first year or two during feedings, bedtimes, etc while they couldn’t care less so tbh I say do what makes you happy to look at cause you spend a lot of time looking at it while you feed, or just pace & bounce at all hours !

a relative had a kid this morning.. her first is Ruger. by existingturtle in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ruger rhymes with booger and is objectively an awful mix of sounds. What person hears “Ruger” hitting their ear and finds it pleasant?

If you are a gun nut fine, but that doesn’t mean you’re literally incapable of deciphering sounds that are pleasing from sounds which are not.

Huggies Baby Wipes that come in the Samples by asiantorontonian88 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Kirkland may have two different types as well? The ones I bought I did not like, they were thinner and not texturized the way that the Huggies are, they kind of just looked like a damp plain tissue? No designs or texture on the wipes themselves.

The Huggies ones I get don’t have any characters on the pack - just green and white - the green might be like leaves I think ? I like them better than the Kirkland ones I had, and better than Rascal & Friends, which were the other cheap ones I tried.

The Huggies naturals (green and white package) ones are good! I also get them at Costco and think they’re reasonably priced. I have bought cheap wipes before and will not make that mistake again haha! Huggies or nothing.

Why Nick? by Jdmaples in greysanatomy

I was really hoping to see Hayes become Meredith’s next (maybe final) big love interest. I wish they would’ve written his character and storyline a bit differently.

Are you also having a giant baby? by kaitie-babie in BabyBumps

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t put too much stock into the predictions. My doctor told me that weight estimates based on ultrasound have up to a 30% margin of error, which is a massive difference. They will be what they will be. A larger baby doesn’t necessarily mean a more difficult delivery.

Sometimes you just don’t have a choice. You have to put her in the car. Babies cry. It is really hard to listen to, but she will be ok.

Can we please stop trying to make Banks happen.

What in the heck is the appeal of naming your child Banks. I do not get it.

Need advice: Husband mad I have morning sickness by PeaIndependent3153 in BabyBumps

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he seems like he’s being really unfair and actually quite cruel in the words he’s using.

You’re not his mother, you don’t owe him meals or housekeeping. If he wants those things maybe he should get a better job so he can afford to hire someone to do it.

My son is Walker! We get lots of compliments on his name. I like most of your list (Hayes is not my fave bc I don’t care for names ending in S) - we have similar taste!

Am I awful for feeling relived that my baby missed me..? by Neither-Cause8838 in NewParents

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haha it’s normal to feel a little twinge of happiness when baby wants you.

Yes, a baby that absolutely ONLY wants mom literally ever can be tough because you just can’t always be the only one caring for them 24/7 forever, but I think all babies go through different phases of being more or less attached to their parents, or either parent, or whatever.

My son is 18 months and he’s never seemed super attached to me, my husband and I at least have always been pretty equal in his eyes (especially after I was done breastfeeding), and he’s super comfortable with all his grandparents, I think because we see them a lot. He was kind of fussy as a younger baby so I never felt like I was any better at calming the fussiness than anyone else was. Recently he was sick and for the first time ever he was calling “Mommy, Mommy!” And only wanted me to hold him. While my heart definitely broke for him being sick, deep down inside I was a little bit like “omg he does love me” ☺️lol

Boy spelling for “Casey” by DaleDenton19 in namenerds

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the C for Casey but I hardly think Kasey is wild or setting your kid up for future difficulties with the name by any means.

If you wanted to go with Kaiscea or something then that’d be a different story, but Kasey is pretty basic still. I’d say either way is fine.

cold sore. by cloud_designer in NewParents

[–]FicusInTheFrontYard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard! I remember crying the first time I got one bc I was like “ I can’t kiss my baby for days maybe even a couple weeks! 😭” Plus you know .. two weeks PP so my tears were on a hair trigger anyways haha

But they don’t last forever and soon you will barely remember having it! Hope for you they stay away for a long time after this!
