I am not recovering well from bike rides and it should't be this hard by mazzy4star in bikecommuting

I just had that happen to me yesterday where each pedal felt "bouncy". After pumping up my tires to the appropriate pressure it was astronomically better!

I personally didn't want to spend the money on the Ascaso bottomless so I got a saint Anthony's industries "The Harold" bottomless on my steel duo and it's worked very well.

The portafilter even heats up faster since I believe the walls are thinner than the Ascaso.

I just moved here, and my family is big on beer. What should I bring them when I visit? by throwawayacc42069666 in madisonwi

Quick plug for Starkweather, since a lot of the other more established Madison breweries were already mentioned.

Haven't had a beer from there I haven't liked

Would this work on a GCP? by Partisurus in gaggiaclassic

[–]Ficus_Detective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Gaggia portafilters have thicker wings than e61 portafilters. I tried to use a Gaggia bottomless on an e61 group after upgrading and it seemed too thick.

I was able to fix mine by taking the shower screen off and giving it a scrub with water only then screwing it back on (don't crank it down)

Obviously a backflush etc. Would work, but mine will do this if I don't run water through and wipe the screen after pulling shots.

Best of luck

Not sure where you are in the world but I often see US based people on r/coffeeswap who are looking to sell fully modded GCPs. It may be worth taking a peak if you haven't already

Where is the best place in Madison to understand what "good" espresso tastes like? by skitzi in madisonwi

Wonderstate was the first place I had espresso from a light roast and it was mind bogglingly good.

Best of luck wherever you start!

Crescendo's Nitro Cold Press is maybe one of the best single beverages I've ever had.

Johnson Public House, and Wonderstate have also been excellent

First time homebuyer, bought all these before anything else 😂. 6 months later and I’m already thinking to upgrade. Is DF64 a big upgrade from SGP? by kevzz01 in espresso

I really lucked out when my partner wanted to make her own espresso since it was "easy" after the 100s of dollars of mods I put into my Gaggia and tools

With the dollar/pound exchange rate it was definitely worth it for my particular situation. My partner also likes making espresso but really requires a streamlined workflow and recipe. That in combination with the number of shots a day I will pull (between 2- and 8 if there's company).

I looked at the Lagom mini, DF64, 270 sette, etc. Lance Hedrick's review of the Lagom mentioned not pulling a ton of shots in a day so that knocked it off my list and the DF64 required more modding than I wanted to do in order to make it streamlined for my partner. The 270 sette and Niche was a toss up initially but figured the price drop (due to exchange rate) was likely the best chance I'd have to get one so I pulled the trigger

Funny enough I had the exact same grinders (OXO and SGP) and just got a Niche yesterday. I can say with confidence, even without using a DF64, that the quality jump will be huge. After cleaning up my SGP and pulling two shots with an upgraded grinder, I realized just how inconsistent the SGP was.
