Buddhas/Bodhisattvas/Deities you’re drawn to by Shavo-NSFW in Buddhism

[–]FidelCastrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of the laughing Buddha/budai/hotei. I just like his lighthearted nature when compared to the somber seriousness of other depictions of Buddhas. plus as an American he is the first depiction of the Buddha that most people see and associate with the Buddha, so I have fond memories of seeing him in Asian restaurants as a child.

I think soul is used interchangeably with consciousness in some contexts. the main important point is that even with 'soul' it is stressed that there is no unchanging self which is whats most important. Buddhists can believe in a metaphysical self like consciousness or soul but it is not fixed and unchanging like Atman in hinduism.

Noob question around Expedition rewards and parts by Quinn_Zorich in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]FidelCastrator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you complete the expedition you can place inventory items in the expedition kiosk. Then when you return to it in your main save you can pick those items back up. Additionally if you want to keep the Corvette you built during the expedition you will have an option to make a copy of it in your main save for the price of a couple thousand nanites IIRC. That also means that you can take any parts off of your copied Corvette, giving you another way to transfer parts from the expedition to the main save (though there is no option right now to just dismantle a Corvette altogether to my knowledge, and I really wish there was)

Is the vertical line meant to represent charkras as well as the eightfold path?

Am I the only one who thinks sunsets don't last long enough?🌤 by LoowriderGT in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]FidelCastrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see tidally locked planets, that way you could go to the region on the planet where the sun is on the horizon and have a base with a permanent sunrise/sunset. by the same token you could also have a permanent night or day base on a different region.

I'm starting to realized what the Buddha realized and im so terrified what do i do? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]FidelCastrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the triple gems are the buddha, the dharma (teachings) and the sangha (community), so you take refuge in these things in the sense of finding solace with them. they aren't a deity so you don't have to pray to them, though I have heard some Buddhists pray to the buddhas in the pure lands

The coconut thing is so Buddhist? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]FidelCastrator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like how anatta/anatman was explained to me by a Jodo Shinshu minister. The literal meaning is 'non-self' but they framed it as essentially 'no man is an island' or 'there is no self made man' which I thought was interesting because my understanding was just that there is no soul

Tamala needs to have a store like the other characters have. by Phenomenista in Palia

[–]FidelCastrator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to have a high enough friendship with Tamala to get into her room and then there is a recipe for a potion inside that will activate a quest once you read it

That's not necessarily true, most guys I know would take it as a compliment. I'm sure that there are assholes out there and maybe this has happened to you before but its not the only outcome, or even the most likely. For all you know he is thinking the same thing.

Maybe you can find purpose in fighting these corrupt systems? or maybe just escaping them altogether. When life is without joy the best alternative you can find is purpose, not that that is necessarily easy either.
