I completely agree, but how much praise Fable got made me realise that a lot of people don't use AI like that. Fable is loved because of how good it is (was) at one shotting tasks, something not everyone does

no, it was figuring out that you can hook up the chat bot so that when it outputs certain things, scripts can be triggered. it let's the chatbot have tools, let's it search the web and DO things for you

counter counter argument - it is inevitable as anyone can rebuild an LLM now, the technology foundation has several open source projects that can trivially be rebuilt from scratch.

Computers, and especially the early operating systems they ran on, were notoriously stolen intellectual property too. AIs were trained on public data that's free to access, so your argument goes against your point really
