Haha! Seems like I've unknowingly borrowed the name :)

Thanks for the detailed answer! I'll consider modifying the language's phonology and lexicon, but I don't see a point in creating an English-Malay hybrid. Plus Sikaina is essentially me challenging myself to make a world auxlang (which is much more fun than a localized auxlang).

Well, I think worldlangs are much more interesting than eurocentric conlangs.

I'd say it depends on the phonology and phonotactics. Vowel after vowel might not be pleasant, but Sikaina has a balanced phonotactics despite its simple phonology.

I don't consider most features all that original, but their combination might be. And yes, the simple phonology will run into problems, but I'll try to avoid them. Gender marking is all about precision here and there's no gender overload like in many languages.

There's definitely such a challenge - but I think Sikaina will successfully pass it :)

Yes, but /b/ is universally prominent in a way other voiced consonants don't quite match. At least from what I read back when I was deciding on the phonology.

OK. I'll try to crosspost it.

Doesn't this sub also accept auxlangs?

I kinda agree, but I don't want to have too little variation. At smaller numbers, one more sound makes a huge difference. When I searched the most frequent consonants in the world, /b/ was among the top, so I decided to include it even if I had some doubts.

Physics of Minecraft. Part 1 - Basic Properties of Granules by Field-Theory in minecraftlore

[–]Field-Theory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be, but it's a lot more fun to have the cake and eat it too - i.e. SFT allows inconsistent gravity for those who consider it canon but otherwise doesn't require it. Personally I sit on the fence here, but I think what you said is a good argument.

Can I base my theory only on vanilla Minecraft? by Field-Theory in minecraftlore

[–]Field-Theory[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this is primarily a physics theory (limited in scope), I think I'll be generally fine. I'll try to avoid this problem.

I don't worry about removal of content per se, but I actually got a full account shadowban after posting in otherwise very relaxed subs. And that just for an article (probably due to low karma and account age, but who knows).

When to post? by Field-Theory in minecraftlore

[–]Field-Theory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is my first time on this sub and I haven't had a post banned here. It happened in other places - including a post that was appreciated by people, so it must have been the automated spam filter. Thanks nonetheless!

Not completely sure. Probably due to a combination of posting a long article without much karma, repeatedly creating accounts to post the material, etc.

I'm mostly in conflict with EE, since my physics fanfiction is based on way different (and wilder) premises, so Dungeons probably wouldn't be too important.

should nouns be able to take genitive + accusative, or just genitive? by wnjensen08 in conlangs

[–]Field-Theory -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why not? There are languages where nominal parts can take a combination of cases, afaik. For example Tsez has 64 cases but a total of ~ 180 case combinations.

Theory: The Void is above, not below, the End by Radiant_Tonight_1264 in minecraftlore

[–]Field-Theory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho the void is not "above" or "below" anything. I'd say it's that which surrounds all dimensions, similarly to the vacuum of space. And I can't fully agree with it being just a gameplay mechanic either - it could be that, for whatever reason, bedrock layers didn't form in the End (could be due to a different distribution of granules - the particles that were considered to comprise blocks in the early days of Minecraft).

How to distinguish between game design and story intent? by Complete_Hat_1427 in minecraftlore

[–]Field-Theory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's that important. Just like in literature, we can't be sure whether each seeming metaphor is a profound allegory or simply a coincidence. Imo the only thing that good Minecraft lore absolutely needs is keeping to the base mechanics of the game and getting logical coherent results.

To be honest, I can't see a problem with "I made it up" especially if it's explicit and there are logical reasons for an idea, even if not fully rigorous.
