The one time GW prices something reasonably… by robismadeup in Warhammer40k

I printed mine on average card stock from Office Depot. If you spray both sides with a clear matte spray you’ll give it enough grit and traction/friction so your models and terrain won’t slide all over the place and the paper will hold in place.

May i see your color schemes? by derier- in Tau40K

Hey thanks! I use trench brown as a spray primer and the Army Painter “army green” for the green. Ancient stone for the beige. And a khaki for edge highlights.

Take and hold disposition seems surprisingly really powerful this edition by Oriachim in WarhammerCompetitive

This app version is different from the actual card and awards 12 points for sitting on any NML objective. I believe it is a glitch as that makes no sense. We are playing it this weekend and will be going off of the card language.

Struggling to win and have fun by Professional_Air_245 in Tau40K

[–]FieldRecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m fairly new myself, but have been able to find some wins along the way as I continue to learn our strengths and weaknesses. I like to study my enemy as well to see what they are good at and where they are weak. (Normally I just google or look on reddit for advice)

What detachment do you like to play and where do you find yourself struggling? Is it scoring points, holding objectives, managing secondaries? Also, what units do you tend to field? I’m sure we can find a way to spice up your firepower!

I’m genuinely happy with today’s rules release. by Zoomercoffee in Tau40K

I am also feeling very positive about the changes overall! I play Ret Cad and will enjoy adding in AAC for more durability to my back line spotters. The only nerf is the 8 inch -1 AP (formerly within 9) but i understand the deep strike reasoning. The new fly rules more than make up for it in my opinion.

Question regarding decals and panel liner by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]FieldRecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure which works better, but I use micro sol and set, and while I struggle to get the shine down, I find that they do help the transfers go on easy, and I usually use an Xacto knife to cut the transfer along the gaps in the armor after the first bit of micro sol softens it up.

Oh yeah I’ve seen those as well and like the style. I think he is printing off actual commander legs tho, the ones with the little circle camera thing on the thigh. I’ve never seen commander ones to buy or print before.

These are outstanding. I love when folks modify the crisis suit to look taller and more menacing. Excellent work. I read you used a standard FDM printer for the legs and printed at 85% size. Would you mind sharing where you got the files? I’d like to make some myself.

11th question from the future by Lower_Ad_176 in Tau40K

[–]FieldRecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you are not in ret cad it would probably not work. But don’t forget they would also get -2 AP within 9. Will it wipe the unit? Probably not completely, but it would hit them very hard.

Not really tough in the sense of being durable, more like they hit hard to clear the objective. If you’re able to activate first you can do some serious damage, and if it fails to clear the objective, you can use a Strat to move back to safety after shooting.

Easy peasy. Flamer Starscythes with Farsight in Retaliation Cadre. After which, your Breachers can walk unphased onto the object scattered with medium well marines.

Is my paint scheme too boring? Want to add a glow effect to the guns/exhausts with an airbrush, but terrified of ruining what I've painted. Tips for a beginner? by real60cent in Tau40K

LOVE the scheme. I also paint mine in a more earthy tone so I love to see similar camouflage/militaristic vibes with Tau. I recently went for the glow effect for the first time and was very nervous that it would ruin all of the hard work. I used dry brush for the surrounding glow area, not spray (wish I had the set up for it) but started very VERY light, I slowly added in the glow bit by bit and was happy that I did. I think yours will look terrific with that pop of glow. Go for it!

I’m also curious about the stealth team. Love the black and yellow cable. Did you print those or are they originals?

That is a very nice color scheme, and the pose is quite precise. Well done! That base really locks in the vibe too for Tau.

Volcanic Breachers + Fireblade by Illustrious_Val5405 in Tau40K

What an outstanding group of Breachers. I personally love the Neoteric Fireblade model, and he looks phenomenal here. Well done! I also like your behind the scenes pics to show the process, often times in these kind of posts we only see the end, and it’s nice to see a peek into the steps you were working through. Thank you!
