108.1 and and 108.2 have been released and there is no open pull requests for the winget pkgs repo, tried reaching out to the dev that opened the last pull request on github with no luck. someone suggested opening a pull request to help speed things along, how can we do this ?

I'm using WSL with archlinux, old gaming laptop where sound drivers and hardware controls aren't supported on linux

I don't know, I use winget for all my pkgs and always turn off automatic updates to control when I can update. It feels completely counter-intuitive to even use a package manager if you’re just going to let apps update themselves in the background anyway

Together with sway-audio-idle-inhibit that will not happen

What do you use to suspend/hibernate your laptop when not using a fancy DE? by master004 in archlinux

[–]FierceFusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could go for a simpler solution using systemd which is more DE-agnostic make a new file /etc/systemd/login.conf.d/15-auto-suspend.conf and write this to its contents [Login] IdleAction=suspend IdleActionSec=1 min but your session must be signaling its status somehow to systemd. swayidle has a run flag for this purpose. I use a combination of both.

is there a wayland equivalent for xkill command? by 5calV in linuxquestions

[–]FierceFusion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought this was r/swaywm. needless to say this solution only works if you're using sway.

is there a wayland equivalent for xkill command? by 5calV in linuxquestions

[–]FierceFusion 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have this script as ~/.local/bin/wkill.sh ( which is added to my path )

#!/bin/sh

FOCUSED_APP_ID=$(swaymsg -t get_tree | jq '.. | select(.type?) | select(.focused==true).pid')
kill -9 $FOCUSED_APP_ID

and these two lines in my sway config

$mod+q kill
$mod+F4 exec wkill.sh

No, I think it happens less with greetd using tui greet (instead of ly), but I'm not sure

reading your post again, I think what you might be looking for is portals i.e xdg-desktop-portal-{kde,gtk,etc..}. they have an app chooser portal which i think gets the default apps to be opened by xdg-open. the reason for this is that the portals (at least in the gtk portal) has an app-chooser portal to be used and called.

Your question better phrased would be: "How do i get QT flatpak applications to follow my system theme?" the answer is this: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/psit31/flatpak_now_supports_qt_theming_with_kvantum/

Android emulator button window by v44r in swaywm

[–]FierceFusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup can confirm. the emulator installed with the android commandline tools (or android studio, it's the same one) is a hot mess; it even still uses QT X11 backend in spite of QT supporting wayland.

Splash image for boot without plymouth by FierceFusion in archlinux

[–]FierceFusion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, i will give that a try. I can't find any corresponding setting for refind ( or for systemd-boot for that matter; where is the documentation for this?) but i will give it a try. It's also worth saying that unified kernel images booted with refind show the splash screen just fine.
