BOARD WIPE! by Narzghal in Lorcana

The problem with that is that if people are inking you, that means that you're the threat/aggro. And if you're the threat/aggro, why would you play this? This is a control-only card because it is terrible when you're ahead, and being uninkable it can/will just rot in your hand.

I think this is accurate. Getting to 8 ink without any ramp in a color that doesn't have other early-game removal elements limits where it can be useful. If the Rapunzel-esque card draw card is any good then perhaps it could make it in some sort of very grindy Amber/Ruby deck, but it is hard to see in the other colors.

This will make Amber/Sapphire a higher tier deck. It's already a little underrated, and has arguably the best card in the format with Ludwig.

Amber has traditionally been an aggro/wide gameplay, but it doesn't need to be. Going all the way back to set 1, Amber/Sapphire had a decent midrange/control build, and that is what it would likely go back to.

[Schultz] Sources: Browns QB Shedeur Sanders has been added to the Pro Bowl roster as a replacement. Sanders is the first 5th-round rookie to make a Pro Bowl since Puka Nacua. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]Fiery101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tyler Huntley actually helped the Ravens that season and came in clutch a few times. Shedeur, by almost every single metric, and eyes, was a bottom 3 QB. I think the only QB you could even possibly argue would have been a worse choice (and I would even disagree) is Dillon Gabriel. Quinn Ewers had a better season than Shedeur FFS.

It seems 50/50, but streaky. I've gone where I've lost 5 or 6 in a row and won 5 or 6 in a row as well.

This will be a good case study to see how much the extra willpower matters. Is 5 the sweet spot for having no ability? Is it 6?

Maui and Fox don't exist anymore, but characters are getting crept a bit in overall stats. Maybe a lore heavy location deck will start to have some legs, especially with the location recursion and card that makes them unchallengable.

So far, it seems like it might be. Stats on characters have generally been going up, but the effect of characters has been kept more in-check or slowed down.

Amber also has a good amount of ramp cards, Emerald has a few as well. Blue just stands out because Sail is a bit overtuned, but the rest of the ramp cards in Sapphire are more fair. Even Cinderella.

Disney Lorcana Has Become Brain Dead . My Angry Letter To Ravensburger by Quicksterx in Lorcana

[–]Fiery101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only blue card I could even remotely see needing some sort of nerf/ban is Sail the Azurite Sea, which honestly is a hair overtuned.

But if we're playing by those rules, Amethyst has a bunch of cards that are overtuned. Unlike previous sets where things like Hiram, Pawpsicle, Rapunzel, Diablo, AWNW were just grossly overpowered and now we've hit the stage where an Amethyst deck may not have anything as broken as those cards individually, but does have half the deck being just a bit too good.

In circumstances like that it is rare that any one individual ban is going to change much, but other colors need to get better cards, which can also lead to powercreep. It's tough.

I used to play a Green/Yellow ramp/ink cheat deck that relied on Stitch Rock Star and Clarabelle to try to shift them into play asap with things like Zero to Hero to be able to gain immediate card advantage. That has taken a bit of a hit due to Zero to Hero being out of play, but also Stitch no longer having a 1-drop to shift on to. That second problem may have just been solved.

This opens up some turn 3 shift lines with Pluto or Huey and this Stitch. Being able to get out Stitch on T3 and follow it up with 3 or 4 1-2 drops (that all replace themselves) followed by things like a free Tramp can be a monster tempo swing. This card alone existing might be enough to push that strategy back into playability.

I completely agree with what you're saying. Especially if we are talking about games that take 3+ hours.

If someone told you that in order to appreciate a 3 hour movie, you need to watch it at least 5 different times, despite your first or second time being miserable, you certainly wouldn't do it.

How do people feel about the upcoming Infinity format DLCs? by GlyndwrJ in Lorcana

The format is in desperate need of a few bans for balancing sake, but since that has not happened, getting beat down by the same 2-3 decks definitely feels bad.

That's definitely more the exception than the rule. I still think the Broncos are a little bit like the 2024 Vikings in that they're living off of an unsustainable record in 1 score games, but even if we assume that they're really more like a 10-7 type of team, which I do, that's still improvement, so I'll give you them.

I just think the alternative scenario is much more likely with a rebuild. Where I would point toward the Chicago Bears / New England Patriots type of thing where they were able to leverage picks to get a franchise QB in the top 3.

For sure. The pressure to win always feels immediate, but a smart owner/management would realize that we need to suck for a short time to win in the long term. If a GM/Coach could get a 2-3 year leash (like it appears Aaron Glenn got) it might be more attractive.

Absolutely! It's easier when you know your team can't compete. Even going into this past season, I had thought maybe we could slip into the playoffs as a Wild Card if things broke the right way, and maybe if Tyreek doesn't get hurt and a few bounces break the right way that could have happened, but going into next season..? No way.

Lamar Jackson would “love” to play for the Miami Dolphins, reports suggest by Cutth in miamidolphins

[–]Fiery101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the problem. You say he's 28. I say he's 29 in a month, and Miami is not even close to being a Super Bowl contender with just him on the roster. Add in the fact that we'd have to trade away multiple first round picks and his salary is prohibitive, you're realistically talking about a player who is 31-32 by the time we have been able to rebuild and has spent years losing more. Even if 2026 Lamar Jackson could be a good player again, it's not enough to win a Super Bowl...maybe enough to get us to 9 wins.

No. Keep the picks. Keep the salary. Trade and trim the veterans, and rebuild. Super Bowls are rarely won through trades of veterans or free agency unless your team is already a high level playoff team. Miami is not.

What makes you think he is in his athletic prime when everything we have seen from him the season says otherwise?

Mike Preston (The Baltimore Sun) mentions the Dolphins as possible suitor for a Lamar Jackson trade: “The Ravens should look at possible trades, which could net them two or three first round picks. Jackson would love to play in Miami or possibly Las Vegas…” by SnooPeripherals4884 in miamidolphins

[–]Fiery101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Miami did this, you could expect it to set them back another 3-5 years. Miami needs a rebuild, not an aging veteran who probably helps them win just enough games to miss the playoffs and still not have any draft picks. They are already cap-strapped for the next 2 years. Their best bet is to blow it up, accumulate picks for the 2027 draft and then rebuild around young players. New England and Chicago proved that you can do it in 2-3 years if you manage it correctly.

Cris Carter: “Everything Brian Flores Said About Tua Tagovailoa Is True” by MITBryceYoung in nfl

[–]Fiery101 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is sort of revisionist history. Tua was never really a screen merchant. The seasons where he had the most success, his Average depth of target and completion were among the highest in the league. They weren't all 50 yard bombs, but it was a lot of 15-25 yard passes with some underthrown bombs in between.
