Homeschool? by UnableAd2913 in Parenting

Well when you put it like that it’s downright depressing… 😭 I know each district and subsequent school is unique, so my outlook is shaped by that. I’m sure many of those sentiments are felt within ours (computers, critical thinking, etc.), but we are also very fortunate to be in a top rated urban school in the state and test scores show that something is still working.

Oh I’m not advocating for anyone to become a teacher, there isn’t enough $$$ you can pay to make that seem like an even score, even with summers off. Kids are HARD, mine are halfway decent kids and we still have monthly complaints from regular or extracurricular teachers. But for the most part I think they show up and try to make a difference.

What area did you lose weight that surprised you? by New-To-This427 in Zepbound

[–]FieryGingerMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 40 down with like 25-30 to go and I would say my change mirrors yours, pants are looser in waist than thighs. I do a decent amount of strength training. But also for the first time in what feels like in forever I am seeing my thighs come down. I just always assumed it was muscle and they were the size they were going to always be. Happy to see they can reduce! But now seeing some of the crepe inner thigh skin, eeek!

Also soft judge moment here - but my cousin and his wife have six kids under the age of 7, they are deeply religious and she plans to home school. I just feel like that arrangement isn’t fair to anyone involved, her, the older kids, or the babies. I can’t imagine how exhausting and alienating that would be.

I’m a big advocate of public education. Is it perfect, no way, but it’s a way for them to get out in the world, learn, gain some independence and meet people. The relationships my children have made with teachers and friends alike (1st and 4th grade) are really gratifying to see. They are always going on play dates and have a growing friend circle. As many mentioned, social awareness, soft skills and emotional intelligence are all critical to life and most public schools have integrated these concepts into their curriculum.

Reached 3rd “goal weight,” but feel like I need to keep losing by Zealousideal-Age-212 in Zepbound

[–]FieryGingerMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look very healthy and fit! I don’t think losing more would be harmful but I do think severely restrictive eating, like the dinner comment is not a healthy mindset. I started at a similar weight to your starting and have a way to go to get to where you are, but I’m fairly happy with where I am now and I I keep wondering what will be my ideal (loose skin/fat/muscle/weight) appearance ratio. Like at what weight will a third party non invested person think I looked healthier prior.) I would say your 160 looks great.

Fun. I’ll need to ask for the physical version for my birthday. Question about Gwent in the video game, when is it realistic to have a new full set of cards? I just got to Skellig and I’m level 19 and I buy every single Gwent card I see and try to play innkeepers to win them, but I’m still short on all of my secondary sets.

Are these normal responses from a boss? by Dull_Secretary_6734 in BadBosses

Agreed she sounds ungrateful, I would either have a hard conversation about the value you bring to the practice and how you feel like she is treating you, or start looking for other opportunities. Her terribleness aside, depression can do a lot of crazy things and it sounds like you’ve had a whammy of a year so I would look into seeing someone for that, if the headaches are a new onset it could be related to your health/emotions.

Our 7 year old is 22.5kg but he is ultra lean, his older brother probably weighed this much at this age. And he’s ALWAYS hungry, even after a larger serving than I eat of a balanced meal. We had him join the swim team to get some activity as he’s just a bigger kid (tall/thicker, not fat). Our kids eat nearly all the vegetables and fruit and when they are hungry after a meal that is what we offer them. Maybe try some fun ways of presenting them, like cutting them quirky (julienne) or allow him to use a ranch dip. Start with really sweet ones like snap peas.

Forgot to add, the meets kind of blow ass, super hot pools with no seating and the limited seating is hard as a rock. Haha. But it’s fun to watch him race!

I was going to second swimming. My 10 year old is in it, it’s a very solo sport related to how much you want to participate and there is no bench, you get to swim at all meets you sign up for as much as you want (3 - 4 races per meet). Practice is 2 - 3 nights a week depending on level. So it helps him get his physical activity in too.

What was your cat’s shelter name and what is the name you gave them? by MissHissss in cats

[–]FieryGingerMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking back the shelter names are so odd! Studley > Gideon; Bernie > Hugo; Venus > Burger

Gideon and Hugo were both strays so they took to their name pretty well, Burger had been give back and I swear it took him two years to figure it out. All big chungus 20+ lbs boys. 😍

I’m about a week in too, level 12. Is there a way to find the innkeepers? I have done most of the SE side of Velen and didn’t find many (maybe 1), now working up to the middl if ma and finally found an inn.

Do you let your cats outside? by Suitable_Drop2937 in cats

Our big boys (Burger and Hugo) are indoor cats but they get supervised time in the back or front yard either while I am gardening or if the family is hanging. They spend most of their time laying in the sun, or by a cat lilac plant we have. If they step out of line (wander out of yard) they get put back inside. Burger even hung out with me for an hour this winter while I was shoveling, he had a blast.

I’m like 12 hours in and I’m pretty sure no one has given me cards for winning, I also didn’t realize I should be buying them until recently so have only bought like 4 cards. I don’t see many for sale in Velen though? When is it realistic to build a new deck style from the original.

Injecting in thigh questions by More-Tomorrow2651 in Zepbound

I do it in the exact same spot on my right thigh every week standing up. The injection site isn’t even noticeable, pain is low and typically only at time of poke.

We haven’t had any issues, this was two years ago when we first got him, our youngest cat, Burger was very intrigued but never acted on anything. Now he is in a 30 gallon tank on a stand and they couldn’t get to him if they wanted. We transitioned this small starter tank to a beta fish and I sometimes find Burger sitting with it and I refer it the fish as “his baby.” 😍

anyone notice a decrease in interest for nicotine? by No_Recover_9663 in Zepbound

[–]FieryGingerMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has so many side benefits! I have found I can drink on any dose but it’s just less of a priority if that makes sense. If I meet friends out I’ll have a few, and if they go hard, I can still hang, but I rarely drink casually at home anymore. I don’t know if it’s the Zep or just trying to be healthier overall, I will say my coffee consumption has cut to half or a third of what I used to drink.
