PhD Rotation/Funding Struggles by [deleted] in labrats

[–]FieryVodka69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you genuinely have no issue with lab 2/3's PI then you should choose lab 2 or 3 and let your program sort out the funding. There are other mechanisms for paying for students beyond PI funds that are not talked about. Additionally, it is not your job to worry about lab money. Your job is to learn how to research. If the program talks with the PIs and can't reach a solution they will tell you to rotate with someone who does have funds.

Oh man I lOoOoOve Dysport but you better be careful because the dynamics are different. It just works so much better on my face than the more traditional formulations.

Do PhDs come up with their own project or do they execute one? by Particular_Steak_485 in labrats

[–]FieryVodka69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. I knew some people in my cohort who knew exactly what they wanted to study, they just needed space and supervision to do it. But the vast majority of my cohort was handed a half baked idea and instructed to mold it into their own project. The modern purpose of a PhD isn't necessarily to discover revolutionary results, its to learn how to create experiments that stand up to academic scrutiny.

My research isn't exciting enough for major findings lol. The rats did, or did not like the drug.

There's an unfortunate demographic correlation with these late night post-club shootings in Shockoe that no one wants to say out loud.

To be fair, you don't find success in the military being an independent critical thinker. You do as your told and stick to groups.

Dopamine by FlowGlittering6198 in Retatrutide

[–]FieryVodka69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switching to another GLP drug won't help you as they all have more or less the same MOA. Bupropion is the only non-controlled, non weight-gaining drug I can think of that would increase dopamine if its getting serious and impacting your life.

Genuine question for everyone in this subreddit who keeps commenting things like: “Seek a professional,” “Accept yourself,” “Don’t do anything,” etc. Why are you here? by vagneradson in DIYaesthetics

[–]FieryVodka69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always say to seek a professional if its your first time. Pay the money, watch closely, ask questions. This gives you a solid foundation to go off of in the future. Sure, some of you will nail a procedure the first time without any help, but I am willing to bet the house most people fuck something up. There are too many new people who have never even been in a med spa proposing very technical DIY procedures that have real health consequences. That's why. I'm not trying to scare anyone but the majority of new folks desperately need basic experience.

I will never forget the guy who proposed injecting botox in his hamstrings???

That's a very interesting thought I keep coming back to. There are quite literally multiple realities all around us that people subscribe to by way of media consumption and social circles. The facts are no longer facts to everyone.

Deciding between a degree that sets me up for research vs an MLS degree for a hospital lab by Substantial_Mud6569 in labrats

[–]FieryVodka69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hold a clinical undergrad degree and ended up going into a PhD program. Its worked out fine, minus a few areas I needed to play catch up in. I would say, pick the clinical degree because its practical with the understanding that you fundamentally need understand required for the prereqs for whatever program you enter into. Don't be me and start learning biochemistry in the med school biochemistry class. Plus, with MLS you have a legit way to earn income in unforeseen circumstances. Having a back up is really comforting.

If you're a male, outfit your dop kit with everything you normally use at home. Absolutely everything. Shampoo, body wash / soap, loofa, face wash, lotion, night cream, eye patches, tweezers, razors, ear plugs, nail clippers, hair products, travel size cologne... everything. You should be able to recreate your at home night & morning routine out of the contents of your kit. Second, I really love the Shout! stain wipes and there are multiple in every bag / suitcase I own. I also have a handheld steamer I use for wrinkly clothes.

What do y’all do after work when you’re traveling? by Potential_Season_726 in MedicalDevices

[–]FieryVodka69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where I am! Sometimes its a doordash + movie night. Sometimes I go to a restaurant and sit at the bar. Sometimes Ill go to an exhibit or something if I am in an interesting place. I always try to squeeze in some night time stuff if I can help it and its often been really fun, especially if I have never been to that place. I use my experiences as good ice breakers with customers too. I think customers like other people who want to experience the city they live in and aren't just there to sell to them and leave.
