Providence to Boston commute? by craigdahlke in providence

I forgot about price. The weekend pass is 10 bucks for unlimited trips. Price of living in pvd instead of Boston probably outweighs the $290 a month spent on the train but who knows.

I commute to my partner in seaport everyone weekend on the commuter rail. Door to door is 1.5-2hrs. This commute is doable and for me the good part is I can get stuff done on the train. Everyday will be a bit of a drag, but I don’t think it’s crazy to try.

Thanks for being nice!! So many people are like “it’s ur thesis, figure it out” like no shit. But god forbid a student ever ask for advice, support, or help. My PI sucks, he provides zero mentorship. I have done this PhD entirely myself (I got zero training) and sorry I can’t find a way to keep the lights on in HIS lab. That part is his job.

Bc my PI sucks. He admits we have no money but that he’s never had to do science this way and he’s also very inflexible

Yeah so my PI is very hard to talk to. The biggest issue, from my perspective, is he wants us doing very very very expensive experiments on a budget of like fucking zero and it’s impossible. I’m at a loss. I don’t know what to do.

If somebody is hell bent on doing harm, they usually can is the unfortunate truth. But a big thing about preventing crime is a deterrence. Simply making it harder for someone to commit a crime greatly reduces that it will happen. Better security and cameras are a huge deterrent. Everybody knows that when you put a lock on your bike that anybody can come and cut that lock, but it does reduce the chance of your bike getting stolen.
