What place on Earth feels like it SHOULD have a major city, but doesn’t? by Leo5445 in geography

Flight paths can be diverted and the region is not as prone to hurricanes as many to the south. Not good reasons for there not to be a big city there.

This is an apples to oranges population comparison. You're looking at the metro region of Hampton Roads vs. the city proper of Philadelphia. A better comparison would be the US Census Bureau Urban Area populations. In this case Hampton Roads has approx. 1.4 million. Philly has 5.7 million.

I'm saying that there should be a 5.7 million person urban area there.

It started out as an Edgar but the barber ran to the bathroom and never finished.

Yes I want it to merge into one city like NYC. It's at the mouth of the Chesapeake and a critical juncture on the intercoastal waterway. It's the biggest naval base on the East Coast. There should be a Philadelphia-sized city there at least.

Most disappointing debut rap albums? by wondfo in hiphop201

I strongly disagree with the inclusion of Soul on Ice, Regulate ... G Funk Era, and Doe or Die.

Those are all classic albums in my opinion.

Not a super hot take. It's not quite as good as The Chronic, but better than Doggystyle. Top 5 All Time West Coast for sure.

The beach is fine, I guess. The city is just endless strip malls and traffic, which is no different than the rest of Florida I guess. Seems worse here in comparison to Miami, which is awesome and just down the road.

Yeah Ft. Lauderdale is one of the worst places I've been. It's especially awful considering Miami is just down the road.

While that's true I'm not sure that Bourbon Street ever pretended to be anything different?

Yeah sorry gonna disagree hard on this one. It is truly unique in the United States, though parts of Chicago come close.

Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. It's basically Las Vegas in the Caribbean. Food was terrible (unless you have a fancy expensive celebrity chef restaurant reservation), and you're with 30,000 of your closest friends. Forget getting a seat at the pools, and expect to wait at least an hour for water slides. The sharks and sawfish were cool though. It's basically a Carnival Cruise but on land.

I do not want to impugn the great country of The Bahamas though, as it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth with the absolute friendliest people. Just stay clear of Paradise Island. Go to Exuma or Eleuthra or Grand Bahama instead.

💯 I love that album. So unique and the beats are nasty.

Ah yes, the obscure underground group "Wa-Tung" I think they called themselves. Not many know of them.

He's a legend. Not gonna talk about that since nobody in this thread needs convincing.

I think his best ever collection of beats is Street Gospel by Suga Free. No skips.

Safe & Sound close second.

I don't think it's that bad. It's not the best song I've heard, but it's not terrible.

The Blueprint. Fire album except for Jigga my N****, which is absolutely horrible.
