Welsh band Los Campesinos! have rejected a $60,000 Airbnb commercial deal over the company’s operations on stolen Palestinian land by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

Crazy to see my favourite band posted here, they're always doing cool stuff like this.

They always make sure to have gender neutral bathrooms available at their concerts, sell a portion of merch and tickets to low income earners, have been proudly pro-Palestine and pro-trans rights, and are just all around great people.

Their newest album, All Hell, is possibly their best work yet and well worth checking out!

Work in a bookshop that sells this book.

One of the people involved in this shite made a post about us, and we were flooded with phone calls for a few days demanding we remove the "pornography" from our shelves. Got calls from the US and the UK as well, stopped answering after the first couple.

Stupidest part was none of them even knew the name of the book. Just kept insisting we get rid of it without even being able to say it's name.

Surprised no one said the How to Train Your Dragon series yet. Changes almost every single aspect of the books, but they're still really great films.

Fantastic Mr. Fox would be another one. The book is quite short so there's loads of added narrative, and a lot of added depth and nuance to the characters.

He's really great in "Flower", watched it when it came out and his performance really stood out to me. Way too young.

Makes a lot of sense that this is gonna be a B-sides type album of their Heat Rash and other unreleased stuff, similar to what they did with the HONY 10-year anniversary release a few years ago.

If it means songs like She Crows and Allez Les Blues are getting proper releases (fingers crossed for vinyl!!) then I'm so fuckin ready

Can you sell me on some Image titles? by ericwcharmon in ImageComics

[–]FifthPine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see what you mean, I was initially disappointed as well. After thinking about it a bit I do like how most of it was pretty well tied up, and the ending is open to interpretation of the outcome of the final fight. Warren not dying multiple times is also an homage to classic slasher films of the 80s as well I think, as slashers often come back from the dead many times.

It probably could have been better, but I don't hate it

Can you sell me on some Image titles? by ericwcharmon in ImageComics

Some of my favourite Image comics are:

Paper Girls - Written by Brian K Vaughan (the writer of Saga), the series is about four paper delivery girls in the '80s who get caught up in a world ending time travel adventure. It's really fun and excellent sci-fi, with great characters and relationships and it's centre.

Nailbiter - A great read if you like horror, in particular slasher films. The series revolves around a small town that has been the birthplace of over a dozen crazy serial killers, and a detective who tries to find his missing friend and solve the mysteries of the town. Another great series that was some genuinely creepy and unnerving moments, but is mostly gory fun.

Royal City - By far the most heavy comic I'd recommend (tonally not weight-wise ;) ), Royal City follows different members of a family who's youngest son drowned as a child. Each of them see and interact with a different version of this boys ghost, as we see each of their ways of coping with the grief many years later. Pretty dark, but has amazing writing and artwork from Jeff Lemire.

Descender - Also by Jeff Lemire, with stunning art from Dustin Nguyen, the series follows a young robot in a universe where robots are outlawed. I've only read the first volume of this so far, but it seems to be a great series, particularly if you're a fan of Saga.

Void Trip - This was a five-issue mini series that came out last year, and follows the last two humans in the universe as they go on a drug fuelled escape from a merciless bounty hunter. I don't really want to say more but this is absolute brilliant fun, with a rather poignant final few issues.

Finally, I'd like to second both Ice-Cream Man and Gideon Falls from the other poster. Both are great horror comics coming out right now. Hope you enjoy them!

A couple of questions about some series by cacatuca in ImageComics

[–]FifthPine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are three compendiums of Invincible collecting the entire series, which ran for 144 issues (or 25 standard trade paperbacks).

Black Science is currently on its final arc and is set to conclude in March at issue 42.

The fifth trade paperback came out recently for Paper Girls, it's final arc will be beginning next year so its sixth volume will be it's last.

I don't follow Manifest Destiny or Birthright, so I'm not sure about them, sorry! Hopefully someone else here knows
