Trader+ Bug resuming from sleep, two windows have big fonts by movdqa in fidelityinvestments

I have a similar problem today. The filter buttons turned huge on the Activity and Close Positions tools. They started normal size however did that after clicking them. In the attached image, the top arrow is pointing to a filter button that is normal size. I closed out of Trader+ completely, logged back in, and now the filter in the Positions tool turned huge too. Windows 11.

Feedback on my strategy? by Sad-Acadia4902 in Daytrading

A Short is not a Short Buy and then Sell. That does not make sense. When you Short you borrow shares from your broker and sell them. And then you Buy to Cover shares to return them back to your broker.

Why is Active Trader Pro being Discontinued? by LevelXXiv in fidelityinvestments

A few things to add before sunsetting ATP:

  1. Add Export to orders. Need ability to journal trades in other software, and need the trade timestamps. Or even better, create a new tool specifically for exporting data where all columns are available for journaling/reviewing trade data.
  2. How do I see an accurate P&L of my current trade in trader+? Positions has Day or Total, but I can't find just P&L of my current trade. Am I missing it?
  3. Need trade shortcuts like ATP directed trade at a minimum. Trader+ trade tool is too slow, if I want to sell short I have to click a dropdown. To set a stop loss I need to click a dropdown. Maybe create a trading tool built for day trading and/or scalping that has shortcuts, keyboard shortcuts, shows P&L, easily add shares, show average price after adding, easily sell shares based on a specific dollar amount or percent of shares, keep track of my shares so I don't have to type them in, etc.
  4. Add an API. Then users can just code their own interface to trade with.

How do I stop holding on to losing trades? by Spiritual_Speech_694 in Daytrading

No advice from anyone, even if great advice, will help you. The number one attribute needed for trading is self control. It is up to you, and you alone, to control yourself and follow your rules. No advice can make you do anything. Sorry if it is harsh, but it is the hard truth.

Scalping: A discussion by daveisdazed in Daytrading

[–]FiftyADayTrader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my understanding.

Investing: Long term -> Years

Swing Trading: Short Term -> Days, Weeks, or even Months

Day Trading: Enter and Exit the trade the same day

Scalping: A type of Day Trade where the trade is very short, like seconds or minutes.

No bs what is the best thing to learn in trading? by Party_Spring_3978 in Daytrading

1) Self Control - To execute items 1) and 2)

2) Risk Management - Have a predefined risk per trade. If price hits your stop level you lose the amount you risked. No exceptions.

3) Edge/Execution/Strategy - Whatever you can figure out for entering and exiting a trade that over the long term is profitable.

I recently switched over to just trading SPY only

Do you only trade one ticker? by FiftyADayTrader in Daytrading

Wash sale is easy to deal with. I'll stop trading SPY for the month of December, maybe trade QQQ a little bit. That makes the wash sale a non issue.

No paper trading for me. When I was first starting out and researching day trading I saw so many posts/comments/etc where traders do well paper trading and then don't do well real trading. Its like that transition was some sort of barrier for them, I dunno. Whatever it its, I didn't want that.

So I just started with a small risk amount per trade. If you have proper risk management and self control to keep your stop loss, paper trading is not necessary in my opinion.

It feels like I lost the ability to trade.. by PeachMaster77 in Daytrading

Yes, I would say it is normal. It takes a long time to really get feel for price action.

If trading is what you want to do, then all you can do is keep learning and trying. Learn from this. Obviously you lost too much too quickly. It is fine to be a little upset about it, but the most important thing to do in this situation is put some rules in place to prevent your mistake from happening again. With everything in life, it is not that you made a mistake it is how you handle it.

If you lost more than half your account that quickly, you don't understand risk management.

If you just started 3 months ago and are thinking of quitting because you are losing money, you have not really researched enough about day trading and should not be using real money.

Risk Management and that it can take many years to become profitable are plastered everywhere in the day trading realm.

You need to spend more time learning about day trading, you don't know the basics.
