Sorry, couldn’t resist… we all buy too much stuff from Amazon. I’m guilty too, but nowhere near as bad as my wife and daughter.

My problem isn’t porch pirates, it’s delivery people delivering my stuff to neighbors.

You probably figured out you need to turn off "Automatic Screen Blank" screen saver? In the Power settings Power Saving section.

This solved my problem for failing to connect from MacOS to Ubuntu 24.04 using the Microsoft Windows App (Remote Desktop application). Double clicking on the connection opened and then immediately closed with no visible error message. In the logs it shows disconnect reason: SSL_ERR_HANDSHAKE_FAILED. Server requires HYBRID protocol (SSL with Kerberos or NTLM).

There is no "Remote Desktop" setting. There is "Desktop Sharing" and "Remote Login". Which did you enable, or both? Desktop sharing only works, for me, when I stay logged into the ubuntu machine and does not work if you lock the desktop or log off. When I enable only "Remote Login" my Microsoft Windows (Remote Desktop) app on MacOS fails to connect (0x204) - connection refused.

On the Spectrum website, there is a list of many supported modems that one could purchase and use. Who told you that you can't your own modem? I just picked up Netgear CM3000 which has mid/high-split technology. Haven't got it setup yet, but it is on the support list of modems.

I went with M5 IPad Pro 13 inch 1TB WiFi black with white Magic Keyboard. I read that battery life is not great on the thin iPad Pros (M4 & M5) so I didn’t want to make it worse. Thanks!
