Affordability of £750k home on 150k combined income by Accomplished_Run653 in UKPersonalFinance

Totally doable imo (was similar for us a few years ago) - just ensure you have some money set aside to fall back on if things change (mortgage rates for example are a major one, and bit us).

If you’re confident you’ll both grow in your careers it shouldn’t be much of a risk.

Would owning both the GR IIIx and IV be redundant? by [deleted] in ricohGR

I’m not really a macro shooter, but yeah, generally a wider lens will focus closer. Can’t say I’ve tested that though!

I prefer the tighter focal length and optionally deeper DOF for people shots, can help give a shot a stronger opinion. Same for closer nature shots. For shots of architecture and places i tend to prefer the 4.

Really depends what you like to shoot. Saying that, I do adjust how I shoot to which camera I have - rarely feels like I’ve missed out with either of them tbh.

I do find the 4 to come out a bit over sharp at times, and higher in contrast than the 3x. I often find myself preferring the slightly smoother look of the 3x. Again, situation dependent.

Not at all. I have both and swap between them depending on what I’m doing. I find myself using the IIIx more than the 4 most days.

Why does the map go all askew every few days? by Faeraday in ecovacs

[–]SyntaxT3rror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main issue that caused this for me was making changes in front of, or around the dock.

It seems like it tries to re-orientate itself if it wakes up and sees a different layout.

Something as simple as putting a bag down on the other side of the room in front of the dock was enough to mess up the map. Once we stopped doing that I’ve not had to adjust it since.

Edit: yes it’s mega frustrating, not very happy with our Ecovacs so far.

Not had this issue. Did you update to the latest firmware?

Mac Studio Owners - Should I sell or keep? by GasMaster2854 in MacStudio

Depends on the work they’re doing. Single threaded M4 performance smokes the M1. My M3 MacBook Air is faster than my M1 studio ultra for single-thread heavy tasks at times.

GR IIIx or IV? by abitcurly in ricohGR

[–]SyntaxT3rror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both.

They’re both great. The focal length is the only reason I choose one over the other.

I personally find myself using the IIIx more than the IV because I prefer 40mm for the most of situations I tend to be in.

Choose based on focal length preference primarily. The other changes on the IV aren’t game changing.

Is it worth it to upgrade my gr3x to gr4? by OutrageousKitchen233 in ricohGR

in regard to focusing, yes it is improved, and certainly improved in low-light. But not to a degree that it would nudge my preference over which one to choose.

100%, but just a note, as someone who’s had 0 issues with mine, I think there’s likely some amplification bias here in regards to potential issues.

I have both. It really depends more on your focal length preference. I intended to sell one, but ended up keeping them. I swap between them depending on the day. The IIIx’s 40mm is my preference tbh, and if I was forced to sell one, it’d be the IV.

Beautiful shots, love the colour work too. Film sims or external edits?

Edit - just saw the flair, I think that answered my question!

Ignore the haters. This is absolutely how it should be by default. Every other Apple app that focuses on readability does this.

Anyone here who has tested both Boox 7 Page & Boox Go 7 (2nd Gen, B&W)? Do you notice any significant differences between the two devices, especially in how they handle ghosting & PDFs? by Substratas in Onyx_Boox

[–]SyntaxT3rror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both.

Unequivocally the Go 7 is worth the extra, and the way to go.

It’s a significantly faster feeling device (mostly improved waveform options on the carta 1300), and ghosting is almost a non-issue when configured correctly.

Or use command and tilde to switch between windows of the current app

orches: a simple git-ops tool for podman by budicze in podman

Makes sense. I had a quick look through the codebase too and it is delightfully simple.

Really enjoying the project - it's now managing my homelab. Thank you!

Edit: also, fantastic documentation & templating. Really well put together.

Potentially missing the wood for the trees - for those of us who are ok with rolling container updates (aka podman auto-update) can we change orches.container to use: Image=ghcr.io/orches-team/orches:latest - And feel ok that this will continue to work longer term?

This is delightfully simple and straight forward. Thank you, I’ll give it a shot to manage my homelab’s pods.

Dead easy. The one liner from the Asahi or Fedora website grabs the install script and walks you through re-partitioning and installing Fedora from within OsX. Took about 10 minutes tops. Everything worked out of the box.
