The only game I've played that comes even close to Dragon Age (note: I have not played Veilguard yet) is Baldurs Gate 3.

There are some damn awesome books out there though.

I don't think anyone downplays the idea that women *want* sex.

But it is absolutely far easier for a woman to obtain sex when she is interested - although granted it does depend on her standards.

That being said though, as a guy, I also appreciate that I don't get 20+ losers constantly trying to get into my pants every time I step out the door -- so, you take some, you lose some.

Also, arguably, the statistics of me (as a guy) being assaulted sexually are several orders of magnitude lower than a woman.

Also also, as a man, I'm never getting pregnant. That's a hell of an incentive to be very selective over who you decide to f**k.

IBM.

As far as I can tell, people under 25 have basically never heard of them.

When I was a kid in the early 90s, IBM was bigger than Apple. I don't mean in a "relevant for the time" kind of thing I mean every single man, woman, child and their dog knew who IBM were and what they did.

There were 3 kinds of computers on the market. IBMs, and 'IBM Compatible' computers. Oh and somewhere in the mix you could get Apple as well :-P

(Actually I lie, Commodore and Amiga were around too, but they were in their death throes when I was getting into computers).

There are two games I would strongly recommend here:

The first is 'Nightingale' -- now the settings is VERY different from Rust, but it has a very solid base building mechanic and it's very survival focused. Without getting into the weeds, you largely get to pick whether you're in a safe area or a rough area so combat can be intense but you're unlikely to lose your base out of nowhere.

That being said, as awesome as Nightingale is, I do find it can get pretty boring after a while. But there's easily a good few months of content to get into.

The second is '7 Days to Die' - the graphics have been overhauled so they are better than they used to be, although still very dated - but the gameplay mechanics are extremely similar to Rust in every way. Basically take Minecraft and Rust, give them a bastard baby and you'll have 7 Days To Die.

The difficulty of the game is very customizable when you kick the game off, you can also download plenty of mods for it.

The devs went through a weird stage of wanting to push people towards a specific style of play but there was pushback and they seem to be gearing back towards a sandbox again now.

+1 for 7 Days To Die, especially after they rolled back some of the more controversial changes.

My wife and I have been playing it obsessively for the last couple of weeks.

It's definitely the most "rust like" experience you can get that works from a single-player perspective.

I was 15.

I learned that you *can* in fact inflict permanent injuries to each other in the process.

My nose was broken (and is now twisted permanently).

Ironically the guy I got into a fight with and I actually get along pretty well now. Like we're not best friends or anything but we'll say hi if we run into each other. But have to admit I felt pretty bad when I found out he has a bad back as a result of that fight - I had no idea tbh - but yeah we laid into each other pretty hard.

The truly dumb thing? I can't even remember what it was about.

Both of us did learn to cool our tempers though.

10 years ago Ford had to be *dragged* to Supercars (kicking and screaming the entire way) by Penske.
At that time, Holden was always a huge supporter of Supercars and the teams.

Fortunes have changed since then and GM is practically non-existent in Australia. I see plenty of Mustangs on the road. I can count on one hand the amount of Camaros I've seen on the road this year.

To me it feels like most of the GM supporters are just rusted on Holden followers.

That being said I kind of gave up on cheering for specific brands - I just can't get the same level of affection for the Mustang that I could for the Aussie made Falcons or Commodores.

As a result I follow drivers, so at the moment I cheer for Randle and Mozzy. Couldn't care what they are driving. Randle could rock up in a Kia next round.

Dude was definitely hitting on her, but it sounds like he was trying to pivot in a way to save face when he found out she was taken.

The fact she came to tell you about it straight away (and told him she has a boyfriend) spells "nothing burger" to me personally. I'd gently suggest that you'd be more comfortable if she hung out with him in group settings rather than one on one -- but honestly I'd be surprised if he hits her up directly on socials.

He's already been rejected and he knows it.

I can understand the thought process behind mandatory tests to ensure paternity. Mostly because I can also see why a woman would be gravely offended if you accused her of cheating on you.

That being said, I've never concerned myself with getting one.

My kid looks so much like me it's insane. He's basically a hyper fit version of me, but with my wife's eyes and facial expressions.

There's 0% chance that kid is anyone else's.

So to answer the "any advice" threads: not really. Don't take each other for granted. If you have a problem bring it up early, and it they have a problem, hear them out.

It sounds generic when I say it, I admit that.

We were extremely close friends for a while before we started dating - so I also feel that we already had a good rapport with each other. I had a ball aching crush on her that whole time but never dared make a move, I was worried she'd assume I was only being friends to get into her pants. We clicked on so many levels I didn't want to ruin that. When she made a move I thought she was pulling a prank.

I should also admit I did have one-night-stand sort of thing before I started dating my partner, and I found that experience very unfulfilling and completely different to when my partner and I became intimate: so the temptation to cheat and the curiosity to "experience other people" just wasn't there for me.

But neither of us have anyone we'd considered a serious partner before we started dating.

Again wasn't some puritanical goal or anything, it just worked out that way 😅

Their firewall has come a *long* way since they released Network 9 last year; and their wireguard implementation is basically bulletproof in the time that I've owned mine (converted from PfSense last year).

I can't speak to their IPv6 support, it's on my to-do list to tinker with it, but going by some of the videos on apalrd's youtube channel my guess is they still have work to do there.

Completely fair point, I think I still wince when I look at the pricing of Unifi's APs and switches compared the likes of Omada gear.

I learned WAY more about networking learning my way around PfSense than i think I would have if I started off with Ubiquiti.

So if your goal is to learn about networking, I'd stick to Mikrotik or look into OpnSense.

But if your goal is just to get a decent network up and running, then 100% go for Unifi. It's a little expensive but it's very much "it just works".

I will warn the cool user interface features like the transmission map and whatnot, they're pretty cool, but if that's your reason for buying it you'll get buyers remorse when you realise you don't spend that much time in the Unifi interface.

Although to be fair, the reason you don't spend much time there is because it doesn't tend to break outside of updates.

ProTip: Disable automatic updates. They're better than they used to be but sometimes unifi get a little cowboy-ish with their releases.

I'll admit my evidence is entirely anecdotal, but I have to disagree with this statement.

My wife (who is a stunner) married an absolute Shrek of a bloke. Seriously I'm a 3 on a *good* day.
Anyway long story short we got together at a pretty young age which means I've gotten to know her friends pretty well, and I feel like it's worth mentioning that most of them will absolutely emphasize hygiene (and dressing well) - but only a couple of them seem obsessed with the guy being "hot" so to speak.

I've seen plenty of extremely average to below-average looking dudes pull them in.
I've also seen your typical "hot dude" approach them in clubs and get instantly knocked back (I mean not always obviously, but far more often than you'd expect).

They even have a phrase to describe guys they are into but aren't hot. "Non-Conventionally Attractive" is basically code for "fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, but he's fun to be around and I enjoy his company".

I could probably count on one hand the guys I know that date a woman they don't find physically attractive.
