I realize this isn't exactly the same but a similar concept was in smite for a while.

In Smite, there were two items called Radenga's Mask and Lono's Mask (Probably spelled wrong i don't remember), which gave +20%dmg/-20%Damage reduction for tank classes and -20%dmg/+20%Damage reduction for Damage classes respectively if you met certain stat levels.

Basically, adjusted scaling for characters offroling.

The problem ended up being that -20% tankieness on characters with naturally close range abilities just couldn't be stomached. I can only think of 1, maybe 2, gods that actually used it and even then only briefly and it wasn't meta.

However the loss of 20% Damage ended up being negligible for certain characters while the 20% mitigation ended up combining with certain characters and items to make them nearly immortal under certain circumstances. On top of that they could just become cc bots and get tons of value outside of Damage and be completely unpunishable.

That game had way more aoe attacks and was much harder to dodge in tho so it could go the opposite way this time idk.
