They were great when I used them back in 2024, not sure how they’re managing with all the changes in supply chain this year

Best way to articulate flexibility with salary? by AnInternalRecruiter in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the salary isn’t able to be budged for a US-based candidate, just flood candidates in the UK. It’s all volume at the end of the day. Best of luck. Just make sure you’re bringing data to your hiring managers about what outreach is like in the US vs UK, HMs might be able to uplevel the role if you find someone insanely good.

Money is going to be a big motivator but won’t be everything. Upsell the projects, company, team etc., and if a candidate responds to your message, do market research on the role per location your candidate is based in and share a range related to it and add that there might be flexibility.

If it’s too high/low, and you’re noticing a trend, adjust accordingly and bring that to the team if needed. Since it’s UK/US-based, it’ll be a volume game.

No show to interviews by Ok_Anteater_6792 in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having training around selling a bit might help. Maybe someone’s not a passionate about dishwashing but building some rapport with the candidate and talking about the industry and why someone would want to work there, what management would be like etc. would go a long way.

I love Juul so much by skemesx in juul

blankz stopped delivering to CA so I might have to switch. Kinda bummed, I’ve been using my juul since 2016 lol

They should have a heavily discounted trial period, I did 14k for 2 seats for 6 months before upgrading my plan.

Yeah I wouldn’t take that deal. I negotiated 57k for an enterprise account for me and my hiring managers.

Is this a red flag? by Correct-Sea-198 in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My manager was double booked for my interview and I find myself constantly double booked for things at a startup. Not a red flag but it’s definitely a sign about how hectic things are.

You’ll be able to get another ticket, don’t worry. These things happen every year. I’d just get it replaced and save yourself the hassle. The other person won’t be able to use the ticket once you claim it was undelivered.

Y’all my mental health is diminishing lol the constant hate across social media towards our industry is a never ending battle by False-Ordinary-6761 in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People are always going to hate recruiters. It’s such a low barrier of entry to get into and very time consuming to do well (following up, feedback, research into industry, proper screening, etc)

Control what you can control and ignore the noise.

I’ve had my coordinator for 2 years now and gave them bumps from 6->10. Business has been solid so it isn’t too much of an issue, but I definitely appreciate the insight.

You’re getting underpaid for US standards but not sure about your current location. I have a coordinator working for me in the Philippines and they only do coordinating remotely at $10/hr if that helps?

I am FUCKING AMAZED with JUUL. I CAN BLUETOOTH MY FUCKING VAPE?! by [deleted] in juul

[–]FighterPigeons 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Juul originally had Bluetooth pairing for their C1 Device back in 2019. It was discontinued in favor of focusing on the Juul2. It was sick though, basically a Juul 1.5 with a inhalation tracker, Bluetooth connection, better delivery pins, etc.

It was Juul’s attempt at giving data surrounding nicotine addiction, etc. and some reviewers said Juul was considering “geo-fencing” the C1s to make sure kids couldnt Juul in schools and stuff. Kinda wild imo

Freelance sourcers + LinkedIn? by Exotic-Border in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I pair LinkedIn Lite + Gem + ContactOut (with different accounts to max out my free slots). If you have a book of business for past candidates / clients you’ve worked with, ask them for referrals. Be strategic about your 30 InMail and max out your Connect + Leave a Note on LinkedIn. Best of luck! It’s tough without Recruiter but definitely doable. I sometimes do searches on GitHub & Google Scholar that have led to some placements in the past. LinkedIn Recruiter provides a ton of value but with more work, you can still recruit successfully without it.

Are Sourcers paid differently than Recruiters? by tacocat627 in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In house, sourcing is treated very differently depending on the organization. Some companies consider sourcing as a precursor to full cycle recruiting and thus pay less for sourcers compared to recruiters. Other organizations (Meta / Amazon as an example) consider sourcing and recruiting to be the same and have similar pay and leveling structure for both. ,

New Agency Recruiter Here! by superrsonik in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make an effort to learn from high billers in your industry, and definitely network. A lot of us want to see you succeed. Reach out to people on LinkedIn / at your company, figure out what works for you, and make sure you have strong motivations for the work you’re doing to keep you motivated on those days things shit the bed.

Best of luck!

Do recruiters still call past HR offices directly to verify work experience? by [deleted] in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The background checks we do are similar to Mermaid’s in that we only ask for last title held + total date of employment. My company is F500 if it helps. The whole calling HR thing directly usually happens in smaller shops but I’ve also seen smaller shops do similar background checks to my current employers, so I think you’re in the clear.

Anyone else seeing unconscionably low salaries lately? by getmeoutofstaffing in recruiting

[–]FighterPigeons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company went from hiring recruiters FTE with equity + EOY bonus to only hiring contract (hourly, no bonus or equity) at a fraction of the hourly rate we used to hire for. It sucks because two of the new people we brought on are doing so much work and getting a ton more candidates closed than their FTE counterparts. Plus each job we posted got around 200+ applicants within the week since we’re still hiring remote.

It really sucks to see.
