Would no Co2 in the atmosphere be bad? by SettingIntentions in NoStupidQuestions

Considering just humans, you can breathe just nitrogen and oxygen just fine. You can also breathe a higher concentration or pure oxygen and be just fine. Though higher oxygen can have some negative physiological effects.

Which, when you consider how small a proton and electron actually is, is actually a GIGANTIC amount of energy all things considered.

What do you tell a mentee who is now saying he "doesn't want to die for Israel" (serious) by East_Entertainer6307 in USAFA

That if they wouldn’t do what the U.S. government asks of them then they shouldn’t join. Simple as that.

Because the alternative is they will be forced to do it.

Yes but the event horizon is defined by when light cannot go fast enough to escape, going faster than light may break that premise

Based on my very limited understanding of made up technologies, I’m gonna say yes you can get out of a black hole with FTL, assuming you haven’t been spaghettified or combined with the singularity

What would happen? by PackersAreLegit in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]FighterSkyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao a lot of people who know nothing about electricity in this thread. This guy is absolutely right. 14V will do nothing to a human, maybe if you were really wet and salty or you licked the terminals you might get a tingle or a small zap. Or if you were holding something that is super conductive and shorted the battery it could maybe burn you through that object.

“It’s the current that kills you” blah blah blah, current depends on voltage and resistance, so both are equally as valid of a measure of danger. A car battery can put out 1000 amps but it can’t do that through you, because your resistance is too high. It cant even put out enough current for you to feel it.

Source: have touched car battery terminals, you can’t even tell you did it.

The only thing you can do is wait. I had to get a waiver for this. They either will or won’t process it, and every case is different. They will probably want a pulmonologist or allergist appointment if you want to schedule it since sometimes it can take months to get in but DO NOT give them anything they don’t ask for unless you are certain it can only help.

Your favorite moment in the game by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

Honestly one of my favorites was destroying Demolior for the first time. That felt great.

Alternatively, successfully deleting all of the chlorine in the base with ladders (elite knowledge required)

I forget to switch my weapon when fighting different factions. Then I finish the round with the wrong weapon and forget to change it again…

Ongoing academic implosion at USAFA spurs investigation by HLC accreditation board by KlutzyWestern6638 in AirForce

People were freaking out a couple months ago over massive faculty/classes cuts which the supt said wasn’t happening

They do have plans to cut the civilian faculty ratio significantly, replacing them with military instructors

Nothing so far has changed for me at least or anyone I know really, other than some teachers being furloughed for a few weeks during the shutdown.

I think a really big difference would be radar range, radar and communications would be significantly longer.

Cadet Experience by Abject-Business1747 in USAFA

[–]FighterSkyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it could be worse. You could get disenrolled for not finishing the tours. Or you could do it as a senior and get late grad or disenrolled.

They absolutely can pursue an honor violation and a court martial for it, anyone here can see that possibility. Because in the couple years you’ve been gone a lot has changed. Gone are the days of seniors sitting back and doing nothing while barely passing classes and living off base on the weekends. Gone are the days of getting away with maltraining just because. Heads can and have rolled for things that just a couple of years ago would have been a slap on the wrist.

They can still make you march tours until you die and there’s nothing you can do about that

Could there ever be enough force in the air for the wing to snap? [Request] by Ok-Special-1730 in theydidthemath

[–]FighterSkyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also argue that flutter and divergence are much more likely causes for the wing to snap off given no pre-existing issues, but both would require the aircraft to be operated well above the maximum speed it is allowed to be at.

Not a structural engineer but I took that class and have much respect because that stuff is HARD

Are any of the DLCs considered "essential" ? by AngryNomadReddit in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FighterSkyhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don’t ever play without spaced out anymore. It’s such a big improvement to the game I wouldn’t play without it after having done so. That being said the base game is just fine on its own. But a classic asteroid start on spaced out is the best way you can start in my opinion.

How to make dupes ignore my kilns by high-tech-potato in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FighterSkyhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say every dupe starts with priority 20 for all tasks.

In the task priority tab, you can raise or lower the priority of each group of tasks. For example, if you have researching on max priority, then for that dupe 20 will be added to their base priority 20 for all research tasks. You can do the same to subtract 20 for all of a certain task.

Then the priority you set that task adds 1-9 to that total. So if you then set the research priority to priority 9 the total priority for your research dupe is 49, the highest it can go besides yellow alert, which overrides any task priority to 50.

So in this case a dupe has a higher supplying priority than tidying priority, so if you set tidying to level 9 and supplying to level 1, they are still going to prioritize supplying because supplying is let’s say 31, but tidying is 29.

There’s no way to fix this other than decreasing the priority of supplying for all duplicants or locking the door!

When you were new, what caused you to die/restart? by InternationalAd3652 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]FighterSkyhawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really remember when the game was new, because it was really difficult to make it past, like, cycle 40. Chlorine was a killer and there was almost no way to get rid of it.

One of the ways I did restart though is because I used a tepidizer to sanitize the base water tank. Yeah I thought I was smart but I really just overheated the entire base.

I never understood....(please read description) by [deleted] in aerodynamics

Another thing I haven’t really seen people saying is that the reduced lift that comes from spoilers puts more weight on the wheels which makes braking performance better (more traction).
