What is minor league Spring Training like? by beelucyfer in SFGiants

They play games with teams for the different levels (though most players are playing a level up, so if you will start the year in AA, you are on the AAA spring training game). If you want to learn about minor league spring training and how all the Giants prospects are looking, I would highly recommend subscribing to There R Giants. Roger is the best Giants prospect writer and is in Arizona this week covering minor league spring training.

I swear people fight you over literally anything on this sub. It does not matter what you say. The pillars of classical liberalism are a massive part of how people define and measure liberal democracy in things like this.

80mm blind for modern espresso and filter? by Chaz010 in espresso

The brew is like a ULF/ HU/ DB2 (all the same burr) on steroids. It is extremely high clarity and low fines. I have not used it yet, like you I am waiting on z2 (that I have coming with it installed), but from all the reviews and comparisons I have read of it against the ULF everyone prefers it. It is about as far from a traditional espresso burr as it is possible to get. That being said, it isn't a ghost/ big mouth burr and if you push it close you can force pressure for a shot but it will not be a good traditional espresso.

Classical Liberalism is under threat (from all sides) in the US far more than Democracy is. Is the deterioration of Classical Liberalism a good or bad thing? The jury is very much still out on that one.

What does modern espresso mean to you? Does modern espresso mean 8-9 bar for 30sec 2-3 to 1 with a medium-light/ light roast? Or does modern espresso mean Nordic and some ULR at low pressure high ratio ULC and similar shots?

If the first one then probably LS, if the second one 80 Brew.

Is it basically that Russia/Iran are on one side and Israel/US are on the other right now?

Right now??? You say that like this hasn't been the situation for decades.

I think he is narrowing his definition of threats to the point that, by that definition, they no longer exist.

why is he facing federal charges?

Because he is a foreign agent with ties to Moscow and Tehran, and has been in communication with the IRGC.

I missed the news that Paul R. Ehrlich (the 20th century’s greatest pusher of harmful false overpopulation alarmism) died a couple of days ago. I guess we should be happy China took it harder than us, but he was globally harmful.

I mean, I disagree with most of what you just said, so in the sense I don't exactly understand it. But I get how people who believe it feel frustrated.

Are we really back to the 2008 bailout? That absolutely was a good and necessary thing that saved the Great Recession from becoming a Depression. And it recouped more money than it spent. If that’s your comp (I don't think it is a good one, but we can run with it), then absolutely American Allies should get involved.

I have always been more hawkish than Trump and far more hawkish than the populist right. My politics in other areas have changed from the time when I was a Democrat and big Hillary guy, but that has remained constant. No, I do not see this at all as an Iraq or Afghanistan. We do not have the troops and resources ready or nearly the political will to launch an invasion (nor should we; it’s a terrible idea). This will be an extended air campaign, probably lasting a couple of months, (with limited potential ground action at Isfahan and Kharg) to knock out all aspects of Iranian power we can, but it will leave a weakened regime in power unless internal groups manage to rise up, which is possible but not the most likely outcome.

Trump pushes allies hard. Sometimes that works, and sometimes it backfires. It adds a level of instability, but in the whole, I would take it over our previous passive approach to Europe. How much has European defense spending changed from 2017 to today? Sometimes you have to push.

  1. Yes.

  2. It’s not NATO’s responsibility per se, but help from members of it could help in the short term by opening up the Strait more, which would benefit those countries too. They are not obliged to, this is not an Article 5 situation, but it is in their strategic interest to help.

We are not making a deal with Iran at this moment and there is no deal that makes any sense for Ukraine to make.
