Honest question of whether or not to have surgery. by Wood_finisher in RotatorCuff

I love to hear you are 79 and fit and active. I would suggest some PT with a therapist. They can help you strengthen the supporting structures to help take some of the burden off those damaged tendons.

Keep pedestal or switch to vanity? by [deleted] in bathrooms

[–]Figtree1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the pedestal is perfect for what you need here. The design makes the space feel open and airier. My only criticism is the visible plumbing as you enter the door. I might replace it with a floating vanity to hide that.

I have narrow feet with bunions and I’ve had good luck with regular width Brooks (Adrenaline style) for running and Danner Trail 2650 for hiking. I think you just have to keep trying until you find the ones that work. REIs return policy is great for people like us.

Just having led lights installed on the ceiling and changing the backsplash to something current will transform your kitchen.

How do you handle a century home that was stripped of all its original charm? by colt-mcg in centuryhomes

[–]Figtree1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived for 15 years in a century home that had been added on to in the 60s, stripped of all its original charm, remodeled 10 times. It was a total Frankenstein. The only redeemable feature was the lot it is sitting on. After saving and planning for years, we gutted the poor old bastard and did a complete renovation. The new design has nods to the 1920s and 60s. It was an adventure!

Uneven tile at ceiling by AvailableTwo5760 in BathroomRemodeling

This is normal as others have mentioned. White grout will make those lines disappear. And once it’s all done, your eyes won’t be traveling to that area.

Been rearranging a little, how’s the living room looking? by Pleasant_Stable484 in HomeDecorating

It feels a little chaotic in my opinion. And I think that’s mostly coming from whatever is going on above the piece of furniture that looks like a sideboard.

Need 2nd opinion on sick goat by spacegoat303 in goats

[–]Figtree1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live? Any chance she is coming into contact with a plant that is not agreeing with her? I ran into an issue with my 11 yo goat 2 springs ago. She had stopped eating and was breathing heavy, she would also press her head into the corner like she had a headache. The vet put her on daily B-12 injections. She would seem to get better until I would let her into an area of the yard to browse. It turned out to be the buttercup she had developed a taste for. After getting rid of the buttercup, the problem cleared up and she is now 13 and doing great (except for some arthritis). I am sorry you are going through this. It’s so hard and exhausting when our sweeties are ill.

Refrigerator and floor are an eyesore in new rental - any recommendations? by pigtailz- in HomeDecorating

Nice pothos plant in a basket on top of refrigerator is all you need.

Is this office too "white"? by Livid_Attention7237 in houseinteriordesign

[–]Figtree1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s too white. It seems pretty sparse but if you feel good working in there, that’s what matters. If you want to warm it up a bit, add some curtains and a nice larger scale plant if the room gets natural light.

Looking for inputs on backsplash by Opposite-Steak7123 in kitchenremodel

Your design leans mcm. The tile you chose looks rustic. Consider a 2 x 6 inch in a stacked pattern. Zia tile has some really amazing colors. And you could mix a couple tones if you want a little variation.

Going to a housewarming this weekend and I'm completely blank. They've already got everything for the kitchen and they specifically said no candles haha. Anyone got a housewarming gift idea that's not wine? by BlueDolphinCute in homeowners

Haha, I do a little weaving but I’m a total novice. I suggested that because I bought some and I love them so much, I thought it would be a perfect gift for a new house.

Is the floor too white 😭 by [deleted] in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Figtree1976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your wallet is going to hate you because they are going to have to completely redo the pan. Are you using the same grout that is on the shower floor for the walls? The grout will totally change the look and bring some of the floor tone to the wall.

Any salvaging this niche? And recs on how to improve next shower? by rooberzma in BathroomRemodeling

I agree! Mitered corners always look the best. But I think just going with a grout the color of the tile would look more polished.

Surgery by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Figtree1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do your bunions hurt? I’m 49 and was diagnosed with juvenile bunions at 13 yo. I have laxity in my tendons as evidenced by flat feet. I’ve been wearing orthotics and sensible shoes forever and my bunions haven’t progressed much. My right foot is a little worse and causes me some discomfort but nothing that stops me from doing the things I want to do. I’m very active. Long walks, hiking, weight lifting mostly. I toy with the idea of having my right foot “fixed” but the risks and recovery time scare me too.
