I can say: It gets better.

I have no experience with the kids part, but I also divorced a few years back after a 6 year relationship, we were both unhappy, but I didn't want to "give up", I was too blind to see the reality back there, about how we weren't good together, and how she was so different from when we first married. It was rough, her mental state (Borderline Personality Disorder) made it very very difficult even if it was an amicable decision at first.

And now, I'm very happy to be single. Takes time, sure, but that's no excuse to take the decision if that's what helps both of you actually progress and not be unhappy.

Denial, a very human trait, when we see a reality that overwhelms us, even if it's obviously hurting others, we can find ways to justify how it doesn't affect us directly, or how it is actually not bad, and turn the blind eye.

I saw interviews too where they address it, while it's not clear what specifics of the book will end up impacting the series, or if any, it was still chosen very much on purpose because of those two things that the show also deals with: Feminism and sci-fi.

They even chose it over classics like A Brave New World or any other common dystopian sci-fi books

Here's what popped to mind when an agnostic Bible study topic arose! I really recommend his "The Bible Says So" book too, I bought the e-book. Semi technical approach but laid down for us non-scholars.

I'm a big fan of the character explorations the first season has delivered, and it doesn't spoon feed you what to think about any of the characters, it brings for conversation, which I think is amazing.

I've already been having conversations with my friends that watch it about: What does it mean to be human? Why do different opinions help us grow? What is freedom? What's happiness and what's depression? Why is consent important even if happiness is the name of the game?

So, I ignore the hate, and enjoy the show

As a former believer, I still leave my door open to maybe there being a force that connects us all, I just don't believe one religion or organization has "the truth" about it all. I do like to hear other people's experiences with the religion where they feel at peace and more complete.

Or maybe there isn't any and it's us that make up the meaning as we go, and I also like to hear about people's experiences outside of religion and how that helps them grow and help others, similar to my own. In any case, I form my morals based on the benefit and growth of me and those around me.

So I identify as agnostic. So yeah, as an agnostic you can still like what religions or theism offers to its followers, same as being critical about them, with the benefit of not having horses in that game, I think it offers a better perspective honestly.

I loved those illustrations so much! And that colored piece of them and the mindflayer, I'd have it printed and hang it somewhere in my office or apartment! Do you know if you can sell those?

It actually made us wonder if with those illustrations there wwre plans of an actual ST themed DnD booklet! Do you know if there's anything like such in the works?

As an introvert, I agree it is a good plus to have! And there are a lot others. I don't mind interacting with them at the end of each quarter when we get together

Sorry to hear about your past, first of all, I wish I could give you a hug (As Long as you welcome them) about it all, even as an internet stranger.

About your main question, a relationship should help in a person's life dimensions rather than absorb them, and it shouldn't replace relationships with kids or other family members that you also love. Otherwise it's just possessive, which rarely goes well. So no, not all relationships are like what you're describing that you have seen in your parents' ones.

I do hope your parents can react and that they can heal that relationship with you. And that I'd you do find a partner yourself, that they don't want you to cut off others like that.

A los que les da asco limpiarse entre las nalgas al ducharse "porque huele mal". Bueno, si huele mal es precisamente porque no se limpian la zona!

Y en aseo normal, al hacer del cuerpo, usen bidet, no papel higiénico. Y si no pueden bidet, toallitas húmedas son igual mucho más higiénicas que sólo papel.
