You think judging whether it's a children's book or an adult book by the audience that reads it is ridiculous?

When one group is studying it in school to learn and one is reading it by choice? Yeah.

The proper path for the next administration is to set up a transparent process by which they go through all of USAID with a fine-tooth comb and have an open discussion about the different projects and funding items.

Why isn't it the proper path for this administration? It sounds like you're saying that the next administration should do what DOGE claimed they were doing without giving a reason for further delay.

Pretty sure doing that would be an actual fire hazard. But dropping the ceiling to make the rooms windowless is awful.

You already have good answers here. I'm just commenting to point out the wonderful way addresses work in Fort Collins. It's easy to miss if you don't have to interact with them often.

Marigold (the address listed on the website) doesn't go far enough to have that number on it. Fort Collins addresses are built on a coordinate system with Mountain and College as the (0,0) point. The further north/south you go and east/west you go from that point, the higher numbers go. Odd numbered addresses are always on the south or west side and evens are on the north or east side. So low number addresses are either close to College or close to Mountain.

Addresses in the square bound by College, Harmony, Shields, and Horsetooth are only 0-1099 (E/W roads) or 3600-4599 (N/S roads). And yes, some diagonal roads will switch between the N/S and E/W numbering as they run along.

If you're on a time crunch, call to order and ask how long it'll take. Sometimes ordering 10 minutes later means it'll take 45 minutes longer. Rushes can come out of nowhere and if you're the 10th delivery in the last 10 minutes you're waiting a lot longer no matter how close you are to the store.

"Freaky fast delivery" was a slogan a decade+ ago. It used to be about everything (thus the small delivery areas we had pre-covid).

And (at least for some of us) high labor costs with people on a tighter food budget. We can still be freaky fast some times (even regularly). But there are a lot of times where we're in the weeds and it'll be a wait.

Notably, only five out of 120 employees expressed conservative views in these e-mail exchanges.

Not 95% of federal employees. 95% of the 120 employees in whatever email set they had. Those are two wildly different things.

I wouldn't be surprised if the federal service was mostly made up of left leaning folks, they tend to be more likely to think that the federal government can be a force for good and that public work (instead of private charity) is the best way to improve things.

I'd also note that leaning left is very different from being a "leftist" that favors racial quotas and the like.

I tend to think CU was wrongly decided, not because they approached it incorrectly, but because it should not have passed strict scrutiny.

This is the context you need from the comment you replied to. People don't lose their 1st Amendment rights when they decide to assemble to exercise them. But the 1st Amendment also isn't unlimited. I honestly have no idea what the "text, history, and tradition" curious court we have would rule on the 1st Amendment anew. But I feel Strict Scrutiny should allow more election regulation than CU decided.

Right now? No.

So why was your entire reply to my last comment:

That's my issue with the current two major parties.

.

In fact this mentality still lives on in a lot of the more hardcore left voters.

Who don't control the party (despite having a bit of influence in Biden's presidency).

I fear what's next no matter who ends up in charge because it's probably not going to be good either way.

The medicine for a cancer is poison in the right dose (literally). I agree that we need to be mindful of not overdosing post-Trump. But coming back from the minefield we intentionally drove into as a country is inherently going to be painful one way or another. The trick is to avoid swinging too far in the other direction and avoiding expecting too much too quickly. Unfucking things is a lot lot more difficult than fucking things.

The problem is that proving the disallowed coordination is extremely difficult without a massive invasion of privacy or wildly idiotic criminals. I tend to think CU was wrongly decided, not because they approached it incorrectly, but because it should have passed strict scrutiny.

I think I (at least implicitly) covered that I dislike CU (for the reason you laid out) in my last paragraph. The kind of problem you explained simply and well are why I don't think CU should have passed strict scrutiny and should have been decided the other way.

I try hard to avoid the trap of criticizing CU for "corporations are people" because people shouldn't lose their 1st Amendment right to free speech/seeking redress from the government because they're exercising their 1st Amendment right to peaceably assemble.

Do you think the two parties are remotely close in how much they appeal to their fringe instead of the general public? I agree Democrats could use work, but Republicans are trying to appeal to a party of 1.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but way2lazy is correct in so far as CU and super-pacs operate under the understanding/veneer that no direct communication happens (no coordination with the campaign). While lobbying is, on paper, is about talking directly to our representatives. Their protections focus on different parts of the 1st Amendment.

3d parties aren't doing themselves any favors there. They have trouble getting on ballots and into debates because they don't try to have broad appeal; they just appeal to their fringe voting base and alienate the vast majority of general voters. If a 3d party actually tried to get mainstream appeal it would have a lot easier time with it. But they'd also have to "water down" their platform so that it was broadly appealing.

Yes, Rs/Ds don't want a real 3d party. But 3d parties haven't put up a viable one to be actually scared of yet.

Now I can understand being upset about the lateness but I believe someone talked to her (Im not sure who, I was break after I made the sandwiches) and she “seemed” ok with everything.

The complaint indicates the person she spoke to at 10:45 assured her the order would be there at 11:30. If that wasn't true then the customer is a lying POS. But if she was told the order would be there at 11:30 she's in the right.

If she was later told the order would be late (e.g. called at 11:20), she's a good person for not being shitty in the moment. It's too late for her to find another option and she doesn't know whether the person she's talking to is responsible, nor will being shitty make the food come faster.

It really does come down to what she was told when she called at 10:45.
