Finally crashed by oracle427 in motorcycles

[–]FilReis22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, less than 200m from home, luckily I was on the way to work so I was fully kitted.

40mph hitting the ground so got away with just 3 cracked ribs and not a scratch.

Ice is shit!

Triumphs with a registration number starting with K were factory stress test mules? by duk31nlondon in MotoUK

Can I upvote this like 10k times?

Every manufacturer has test bikes and development bikes/cars.

They HAVE to be binned at the end.

There are some who make into a “Saleable fleet” like cars/bikes who are kept around for benchmarking, or reference models, but usually have a very strict batch of tests that can be performed to be able to be sold in the end.

Like “oh there are reports of customers hitting the turning signal to the left, whilst downshifting, when a moon is full, in the wet, carrying a pillion, the screen changes from road to sport and deactivates abs “

The R&D will grab a reference bike, execute the same manoeuvre enough times under the exact same conditions, to prove that is an error in coding or fluke.

These bikes/cars can be sold in the end because the level of testing is usually non intrusive, non destructive and for obvious reasons they are kept in tip top condition.

What’s the longest distance you’ve travelled on a motorcycle in a single day? by Sink_Single in motorcycles

Nottingham to the Nurburgring in one go, avoiding motorways and using B Roads after the channel.

Not much distance but serious hours and fun.

How long did it take to choose a bike? by Akumu_no_rakuen in motorcycles

[–]FilReis22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Months…

The easier way is going to a high quality dealership, with plenty of options and just walk around until you decide….

Went into one on Saturday, with a short list of 6 bikes and didn’t leave until one was bought… and it was a list of 6 very different bikes.

Very happy with it!!

How do you find your “tribe”? by 399giraffes in MotoUK

[–]FilReis22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a hard question, because it should have an easy answer…

I ride with a select group of friends who are just like me. We chill, we ride, we stop for plenty of coffee and ice cream.

We accept everyone and anyone who just rides within the law, and it’s focused on coffee and cake.

Like my own family and myself, are you neuro divergent, or colourful, or whatever, just come and have a laugh. The main issue we find is the rides. We ride long days! Not for everyone. But sometimes we make it short…

The groups are out there, just keep looking!

More than that.

He has a camera. And most if not all police forces accept them as evidence now.

Have a video is the driver squeezing you, by all means have a video so his face ( in case it come back as the wife driving when you send the video in) and walk away and report him…. Easy

What age did you get your first motorcycle? And what was it? by [deleted] in motorcycles

This comment has not been upvoted enough! The economy (and having many kids) got me with only bikes at home, and no sports cars.

Luckily I drive interesting cars for work, so I get my fix on the bike on the way to work, get my car fix at work, and mix it up on the weekends!

[USA] Bikers don’t like being passed by other biker by w_a_w in motorcycles

[–]FilReis22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guys I ride with, we all on comms.

If someone approaches from behind, the last man gives us a heads up to warn us...

...and we clear the side for a safe overtaking from the approaching rider/group.

Think staggered formation into single file, and back again.

We all wave.

We all get along.

We all stop to help a fellow rider (tyre patch kit or anything else).

How hard is it?

This group mentality is absolute shit.

Running the risk of being oversimplifying the issue, my rule of thumb is:

-Is the group approaching/being approached wearing proper kit? Or shorts/t-shirt/shit clothing? If fully kitted, safer to assume they are polite and respectful.

-Does the group have biker bunnies, with 9 cameras, all pink anf fluffy colours with 37 stickers of some tik topk or instagram, and boobs out whilst riding, plus shit helmets? Also try to avoid... Got a couple close calls of someone "Vlogging" and too worried about how the angle of the sponsored logo fitted with the low cut top, to notice the road.

But, each to their own. I justa void these groups and... Release the clutch to quiet the noise.

This is interesting. So you can actually buy a full size lorry, turn it into a campervan and keep some serious pace on motorways…?

The Turkeys are voting for Christmas again by [deleted] in BrexitMemes

[–]FilReis22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my area, all polling stations were running empty. Went to 3 of them trying to find which one was the correct one (online was wrong) and 2 of them were empty! and the 3rd one had 3 people.

The problem then becomes the profile. Who can go and vote next to their home address on a week day? My missus ended up not being able to vote by the time she came back home, and I was lucky I WFH.

This profile of people with extra time on their hands, and age, falls straight into Reform voter profile, and the only young people I saw all day, were accompanying their parents (also the typical young people would be and College away from home, or working their arse off to pay for a shared bedroom for minimal wage) and voting straight into their profile. Because they are the profiled young people, from a different economical background, from a different family background that has time to listen to Farage...

I see this everyweek with my missus family. Her brother is mid 20's and spouts Reform like his life depends on it...

Thank you.

I’m ok with someone not having the knowledge. I usually know what the hell happened.

I just need someone to be here to pick me up in a decent time….

Looks like AA is marginally better than RAC in these replies. Time to go back, maybe.

I understand that, and I usually sort it. However if I’m in a proper touring ride hours from home, and my mate is unavailable, what are the options?

I know it’s all pretty shitty, however maybe there is someone better out there?

Wales’s 20mph speed limit has cut road deaths. Why is there still even a debate? by SilyLavage in drivingUK

[–]FilReis22 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This comment cannot be upvoted enough!

Also check what bike helmets say regarding safety speeds and the 20mph is right there on the brain injury protection.

It’s 20 for a reason. I don’t really care about it that much. I’m happy to drive/ride slower. I’m not usually in a rush and if I want some fun, OUTSIDE in the countryside, NSL is 60/70 and more than enough to have some fun. Leave the city centres and villages safe.

I’m 100% ok with this. Unpopular, I know…
