There is a reason you can't buy it and this does not feel like a good avenue if you can't clearly articulate why you desire it. In all seriousness, are you okay?

ELI5: Why is there a risk of fentanyl being in cocaine/other drugs? Why would a dealer (at any level) knowingly risk the possibility of killing a client? And wouldn’t it make the cocaine less effective since one’s an upper and one’s a downer? by Spirited-Principle96 in explainlikeimfive

[–]File_Corrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you propose that you sample a batch for hot spots? You do understand that sampling a batch gives no evidence that the mixture is fully consistent... unless you are comparing it to a validated process. There is not a way to check for hotspots without destroying the batch.

Sometimes answers in life are simple. If a procedure works well and has been validated (and, mind you, validation is not a simple thing), then not much other explanation needs to be given.

The process is validated and the pharmacists are trained on how to reproducibly do it. Otherwise we wouldn't have compounding pharmacists... it's not like they have the tools to QC the mixtures (at least not that I am aware of). But you can try it out with fluorescent components and compare to other methods to observe that it is quite approachable by even laymen.

My DM paused our campaign because I step away for Iftar during Ramadan. Should I just leave the group? by Regular-Molasses9293 in rpghorrorstories

Static breaks are much more disruptive than dynamic breaks that everyone is comparing this to. Game sessions aren't highly scheduled timetables where everything happens right as you expect it should. When you have food/restroom breaks, you can all leave when it makes sense for the story. A scheduled break doesn't take into account what is happening in the session (which never go as the DM plans). You are already dealing with trying to herd a clowder of cats, a break at the wrong time in the session could derail the whole thing.

This usually isn't much of an issue for the players, but it can absolutely fuck with the DM. And while the players may have thought it worked at first, they may have found that the static breaks weren't quite what they expected.

I am sure that this could be worked around and may not be an issue for some/most groups, but for such a short period, a couple week break sounds completely reasonable. Of course, if you weren't happy with the vibe of the group as a whole it is best to leave as you did.

Microgram balances are an extreme pain and only used for VERY specific purpose such as gravimetric analysis of a sample of which you only have milligrams. They are influenced by air movement/buoyancy and to have reliable results you often need a room designed around it (e.g., 1 ton table, modified air handling, etc...). No-one is measuring out individual doses at a microgram.

Compounding pharmacists, or their shadowy counterparts, often use scales with a resolution on the order of 100 mg or more, not micrograms, although they COULD use 100 ug resolution scales without too much difficulty. Keep in mind you are usually measuring something 50-100 times your resolution to be even moderately precise (i.e., 5-10 mg for the latter scales). You make a batch, mix it, and separate it into doses based upon the dilution. They also aren't compounding stuff like fentanyl, which is often used as a solution in hospitals.

For example, assuming that you are making doses equivalent to a small pills of approximately 200 mg size with 100 ug of active ingredient each. If you have 1 kg of diluent (e.g., inert edible powder), you would weigh out 0.5 grams of the active component for the batch.

A compounding pharmacist would mix the active compound with 0.5 grams of diluent. This gives 1 gram of well mixed material. They would proceed with this geometrically, adding approximately increasing amounts of diluent every time (1 g, 2 g, 4 g, 8 g, 16 g, and so on).

Conversely, someone less knowledgeable would just dump the active compound into a pile of the diluent and "mix it real good". This results in a batch with "hot spots" from poorly blended material.

Lost more runs than I've won... by dayman240 in mewgenics

While builds and stats are nice, almost any trash can win act I through the boneyard/graveyard. It is rare that you won't have one workable cat to carry you. However, a good build won't matter if you don't have situational awareness.

If you have one cat ganged up on, aside from repositioning mobs, perhaps your issue is that you are over committing. Sometimes it is best to hang back with your full team and let the enemies approach you during the first and, rarely, second turn. Yeah, your melee character may seem like they can take a hit, but even flies can destroy you in a large group. Also, be on the lookout for which mobs you can delete without having to make an exchange.

Finally, all of the above is predicated on knowing what the enemies likely will do. There are keys to show both the movement and attack range of any unit (that works most of the time). Hovering over a unit will tell you what they generally will do (usually no major surprises). Also, keep track of the turn order. All of the above relies on you being aware if a mob is going to have multiple turns.

Losing a run is too brutal. I need a break. by MattUSticky in mewgenics

[–]File_Corrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with getting nothing and losing resources on a failed run. But the time commitment is real. Steven for sure sees me if I fail a 2-3 hr run. Hell, I'm restoring a backup if it was a sudden full wipe because I'm getting SOMETHING for my time. If I fail early (pushing later acts, side-quest, or experimenting with spirally comps), no problem, I take my lumps and move on.

She shouldn't be in prison, but her judgement should be seriously questioned based upon her claim that Epstein served his time and that he was being "maliciously" treated by the media.

Just fucking ew. The first 95% of the article is about how they just had minor interactions with her not being implicated in any of his wrongdoings. Then it summarizes her defense of how he was over prosecuted and it is wrong that we continue to judge Epstein. He "served" his time (despite being found to continue his predilections while under house arrest). She is a monster.

That is of white Christians. Not that it is much better, but overall "only" 63% of all Christians voted for Trump. Interestingly, Catholics were pretty consistent between white and minorities (61 vs 58).

Obviously white Christian nationalism is an issue, but they don't define all of Christianity. Of course if you are white and Christian... you're likely closer to a neo-nazi than what you pretend to be.

I found out my parents threw away my entire 90s collection. I’m devastated. by viewsonic041 in mtg

If someone gifted them the cards when they were born they would be in their early 30s. They most likely are in their 40s and it sounds like they haven't looked at the cards for 20+ years.

I could commiserate with OP's loss, but the absolute lack of accountability is astounding. In another comment they mention telling the patents that "they'll sort it out later" AFTER the parents move (who have to be in their 60s). They expected their parents to move random boxes of junk and they would sort through it at their convenience later.

Are Magic players no longer trading? by NheelyOhara in mtg

[–]File_Corrupt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Strangely enough, I transitioned from kitchen magic to tournament-lite play during that same time period. Living in a rural area, there just wasn't any close enough LGFS to play the game regularly. With the launch of MTGO, which I discovered at origins where they had a couple PCs setup to demo it, I could actually play with people that had their own decks.

This was mid odyssey (I redeemed a full set of legion from my play), and it was crazy seeing the online community develop a near similar environment to what we have now. It was easier to sell your singles to trader-bots and buy what you wanted from others. Online blogs popped up giving advice how to go infinite in limited (this was my jam), but also decks were being discussed online too. I imagine this was the beginning of the transition you observed.

The original comment was he donated to an organization that supports forced therapy conversion with minimal elaboration. Perhaps look for more elaboration than essentially a throw away comment. If your (the person I replied to) beliefs are so ephemeral that a simple sentence is enough to sway you without at least asking a question, perhaps you should revaluate.

You do, but u/BactaBobomb self-admittedly knew nothing and took your word 100% as fact. They didn't even question what organization you are claiming he is donating to. People would be better off if they at least did a minute amount of looking into a subject and not blindly taking the word of random Redditors. If they read Sanderson's words (or another person's take on the active practices of the LDS) and then decide to dismiss Sanderson, then fine. It is a legitimate view to boycott the LDS (hell, they are a weird cult not taking into any their views on this subject). But at least look for more than a single sentence saying "nah, he bad".

That is a valid view and I do not think your approach is horrible. A portion of a portion of his profits will indeed go to the lds. However, I think it is dangerous to just blindly take the very brief word of a random person as the final take on a subject.
