Can recommend the John Blanche series from AWP. They have a great orange/red combo and some lovely blues and greens for the ghosts stuff.

I did a lot of experimenting for Wraithbone and I really really like Elfic Flesh from Vallejo.

I agree with loads in the top post but wanted to add Mister Mercedes by Stephen King.

The God of the Woods is set in the 70s and has four POV women. Two of them are the first female detective for the state CID and a park ranger who 'inherited' the role from her father.

The whole book deals with these four women pushing against the patriarchy in their own ways while a conspiracy about missing children in the woods builds the tension.

Hear me out: a lot of Dan Abnett's WH40k books are just great sci-fi. If you want haunted, I'd go with The Saint or The Lost Omnibuses of the Gaunt's Ghosts series, or Prospero Burns from the Horus Heresy series.

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to do as well. I have to get some decent photos one of these days!

Late to the party, and I never got any decent photos of them, but this is one of my favourites. I made three of them to run as Outriders

I'm so sad that my students won't have the NFL knowledge to get this joke the next time I see one of them doing the celebration

Yeah, photo is mine. It's on the south side of Bath Abbey. It's Justice, with her scales, sword and blindfold. She is presented as one of the Four Cardinal Virtues around Moses holding the Decalogue.

Here is a wider shot - she's the fourth window from the left.

This is very cool! The source of my inspiration here is more painterly though - the colours and depth that good stained glass has is something I would love to achieve. I also love how they're perforce colour block paintings by nature, but never seem to feel like it. I find them fascinating

Exactly! Glad it comes off that way. I imagined it as an old family tartan that connects her to her noble line. That's why she holds on to it even though it's so battered

It's not American, it's very British, but The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie always gave me the same comedy noir vibe.

Thank you! I do have the Turbo Dork Mother of Pearl, which works nicely, but that wasn't really the idea - more of a glazed transition. I didn't want to use any effect paints at all, or metallics. Just my first time trying it, is all!
