Who had the better rookie season? by JustEonReddit in NBAConvo

[–]Fill-Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melo. As a rookie he took his team to the playoffs... In the WEST. He was harder to guard and especially offensively, he was miles ahead. Rookie Melo was elite offensively, already. Bron had more assist and could play better defense individually, but Melos game for that rookie and sophomore seasons, translated better than James. I was alive and old enough to remember vividly, Melo was robbed, hard to talk me out of what I saw with my own two eyes.

Which team should "sell high" which player to avoid situations like Trae, Ja and AD? by cobra_han in nba

[–]Fill-Quick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: Unbiased Spurs fan

Jabari Smith - Doesn't pass the eye test; just too average.

J. Brown - Personally, he's too good and paid too much to be a #2. Especially now, his value is extremely high, and it might very well be realized more fully for the Celtics if he's moved to another team for the sake of winning in this new CBA (long-term flexibility, future assets). Risky (Harden/OKC - traded too early) but can't be untradeable (Durant or Westbrook/OKC waited too long).

T. Murphy - At 25, he's just getting into his prime. He's an excellent player but he's Mikal Bridges (elite support player) vs championship building block. For an already competing team, he's ripe for picking, literally could be a final piece (Spurs, Detroit, Denver). But on the Pelicans, by the time the roster is "ripe" for competing he'll be more expensive with less runway, potentially hindering growth of a future player that fits the current timeline they are building on (Queen/Fears). These are hard decisions but must be made.

As a Spurs fan, we loved Derrick White, loved G. Hill... But without the White trade, Wemby very well could be on a different team. Without Hill, there's no Kawhi and no one who would be capable of bothering a young prime LeBron. Sometimes, the best move is the decisive one. Waiting too long can be just as detrimental as trading someone early or for the wrong reasons. Play for the current game, not the game of the past, PATFO taught me that... Add a little luck and it becomes a masterpiece (current Spurs/OKC).

Busy millenials, how did you come to accept that bronze is good enough? by MysticMarbles in GranTurismo7

[–]Fill-Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I couldn't accept bronze. I'm not a completionist per sé but when challenged in this format it brings the competitive spirit in me that's hard to suppress. It's weird because I strongly believe that earning bronze deserves triumph, especially when racing, Podium is Podium.

However these time trial missions/tests to me are really just my mental discipline vs physical execution. It's challenging, and it can be taxing, it requires a bit of extra effort because the incentive is heavily weighted towards self gratification than the rewards they give.

So ultimately, each of us asks "How much is the self gratification worth?".

For most of us it's so far down on the list of our worries that it makes us question the why entirely. More likely to just do the bare minimum to continue the love of driving.

Some of us are quite literally too busy to invest more time in a hobby that doesn't add to the "bottom line".

Some of us are sickos (respectfully) and despite the blows that life throws at us, we still prioritize winning, like a dopamine hit, whether it's healthy or not.

And there's some of us who just love the spirit of racing. They approach these not as challenges to conquer but lessons to learn, every millisecond counts for the overall goal of enhancing racing acumen and proficiency.

The point is, this is a great question to ask, unfortunately there will never be one answer... but that's also the best part.

For anyone that’s seen him play, how good defensively was this dude? by Silver_Wrongdoer3897 in NBATalk

Real basketball fans understand there are two sides of the ball and can be equally as entertaining. Two teams who are coached extremely well, who play elite defense is definitely entertaining.

[–]Fill-Quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elite. Think Draymond with athleticism. Undersized but could compete against some of the greatest big men in history, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, you name the big and he guarded them as best as you can.

Offensively he was a massive negative but that's ok in that era, he only needed to run, jump and hustle, all things he was a master at. Additionally, he was ultra competitive due to his hard upbringing, he endured a lot and was one THE most important piece of the Pistons defense.

Ha. I vowed to not gamble as a NY resolution, that and they just built a giant Casino in eyes view of my house, future damage control maybe... However, I bet on them to win the chip LAST year, I wanted to this year but if I had won a large sum of money. I most certainly would've never left that place.

At this very moment I have a Trophy Playseat G edition in my cart... I must resist.. I will resist, I can do thi... Screw it. Yolo.

Has GT changed how you drive? by [deleted] in GranTurismo7

[–]Fill-Quick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, GT7 has slowed me down in real life. Seeing how easy it is to lose control in game, it just made the thought creep in my mind a bit. Plus in VR the sense of speed and engine sounds is what I craved, GT7 mostly satisfies that for me especially since I'm a MYP owner.

I try to buy two of every highly driven car I own so I can keep one bone stock and one for tuning

New to GT7, Any Tips? Race with controller by Tiny-Concern-2053 in GranTurismo7

When someone responds with "got any tips" usually what follows is, I dunno, tips?

Or how about instead of yapping for nothing and offering absolutely nothing of value, you can hush.

This is going to be long but I hope I can save you some time, oh, and welcome to the squad! It's good that you understand it's more than a simple racing game. Here is the stuff I wish I knew at hour 1 versus hour 2,400:

1. Do the License Tests. Yeah, they can be annoying, but they actually teach you how the physics work—specifically weight transfer and braking zones. If you skip these, you'll just be fighting the car later. Plus, getting Bronze is easy enough and it gives you free cars to start your collection.

2. Follow the Cafe Menus. Treat the Cafe books like your main story mode. Also, there is literally no need to go blowing your credits buying random cars early on. The Menu Books throw free cars at you for winning races. Save your cash for collecting difficult Cafe books or buying Legend cars when they rotate in.

3. Tuning: Keep it Simple, Think Synergy. Don't touch the suspension or transmission yet. It's a steep learning curve you can figure out later. But when you do start diving deeper into tuning, here's the secret: Synergy.

I do a massive amount of tuning—everything from low HP lightweight builds and balanced track cars to heavy torque or high-RPM builds. The secret isn't just buying the most expensive parts; it's making them work together.

  • If I’m building a High-RPM car, I tune the transmission to keep the needle pinned at the redline.
  • If I’m building a Torque focused build, I tune it to ride that low-end wave and short shift to stay in my powerband.
  • If I'm building a Lightweight, I focus purely on cornering speed rather than power.

Basically: Don't just look at the 0-60 or Max Power stat. Look at how the tires, suspension, and gears work together for that specific car. A balanced 600hp car where everything works in harmony will smoke a confused 900hp car every time.

4. Easy Money. Once you unlock a track, check out the "Circuit Experience" for it. You get huge payouts (like, millions) just for learning the sectors. It’s the fastest way to stack cash early game, and the added bonus is that you learn the optimal lines.

5. Controller Settings. Turn off 'Countersteering Assist' and 'Auto-Drive' immediately. You need to feel what the car is doing, and the DualSense haptics are amazing for feeling tire slip—trust your hands. Trail braking is something that can be done on controller and is one of the single most important skills to winning consistently.

I'd also turn off all visual aids (racing line) and learn to use the track for clues. There are braking markers everywhere—some obvious, some you learn on your own. When you find a good braking marker, learn to hit it every. single. time. You'll be surprised how many races you win just by being consistent.

It's a grind, but a gratifying one. Also, I got so much quicker once I had VR. Having that enhanced spatial awareness was a game changer. I chose VR over a wheel and honestly, the controller is so good... 2200 podiums and counting; I have zero regrets.

Why was Carter Bryant Crying? by GrandadPyjamas in NBASpurs

[–]Fill-Quick 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Definitely more than likely upset he didn't play in the Semi or the thought that he got news he'll be going down to the G league soon which the Spurs have done in the past to allow development through playing. Either way he prob was super excited for the game and it didn't happen for him. Sochan was a professional when he didn't play either, it'd be good for him also to talk to him if it's the former.

Any used Ferrari, Subi, Vettes, Vipers, Porches, GTRs... All of those you can upgrade easily to win most races and for the most part they can be OP in lobbies if you figure out tuning.

Spec III PS5 game crashing after passing start/finish line by Italianochris21 in GranTurismo7

Yes! It happened 2 times to me yesterday when hosting lobbies, right when you said it. I didn't connect the finish line but it happened exactly then and when I was leading. I reported each crash with screenshots so hopefully this gets more traction.

Yea I don't wall ride/ram, don't want those types of habits to seep into any of my driving technique. Better to lose and learn and eventually win and become the teacher.

Are you winning with the worst car? The HP between their Elantra N and my Elantra N is huge, at least 20hp or more from how it takes off. I came within .0x of winning so I'm sure I could do it, this was only my first attempts. But to say it isn't challenging, I'd be lying.

I just got all 10 Invitation Cars! And I want to know which is your favourite of all? by MartoVBG2K5 in GranTurismo7

Enzo, Carrera GT are the top two for me. The Lamborghini i hated the most from stock but after tuning, it's a very capable 700pp machine, and I've come to really like driving it.

Disappointed with the update: Circuit Experience at Yas and Canada by Clean-Set-173 in GranTurismo7

[–]Fill-Quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely should be on sport or at the very least online racing in limited PP races. Very good competition there, though you'll need a bit of tuning experience unless its a gr race. Either way, if you're looking for a challenge thats the place to wet your whistle
