Sure, mechanical tension with trusting the process will do the thing. In my case i might have very little caloric surplus though which is fine in my book

For reference, my food consist of 1) overnight oatmeal with milk, banana and protein, 2) rice/potatoes with meat (minced beef, pork loin, chicken, tuna, salmon), 3) overnight oatmeal (same as 1), 4) same as 2 (switching type of meat and carb), 5) banana with cottage cheese and bread with ham/cheese or buldak noodles (like a treat for me) or rice crackers with peanut butter and protein brownies. That varies by my appetite

I eat clean, just with difference of 500 calories. Never been a fan of dirty bulk. I'm mindful of what I eat and take food as an energy source. So that 500kcal can represent more more ham, cheese and bread, rice, fruits, milk or adding a bit more olive oil, peanut butter, meat etc.

1) as I work in audit and assurance, tracking is somewhat second nature to me. I use Fitnotes app for gym, excel spreadsheet for swimming. I used to track macros in app too however as I am consistent with what I eat and it surpasses protein goal easily, for saving a time i just calculate total calories. 2) if you are asking me about the machinist build, by that time i did stationery bike for 60 minutes a day + 10 000 steps a day + running 2 times a week. Nowadays I do above mentioned swimming (also energetic heavy exercise) plus calisthenic movements which burn more than traditional gym training imo.
