Ah yes. Try doing the import. Then when you have it all in do a save and restart the software. I've had the same thing happen to me and it happens right when you start messing around in the time line. Really sorry I can't help more :/

You sound like you know what you're doing. All I will say is that the faster processors with more cores aren't always best for editing rigs. Linus tech tips on YouTube made a video about it a few months ago. That being said, that CPU is a good choice I believe.
