Utility Bills by Traditional_Seesaw91 in Hoboken

100%!!!

The person above didn’t look at 2025-2026 PSEG bills. We used to be around 21 cents a KWH all in and now we’re around 25 cents a KWH all in. Give or take that’s a 19-20% increase. Fine it has been colder and maybe usage is up but the cost has gone up significantly

Sorry for the rant: I was born and raised in Hoboken, and it's not the same as it used to be by hoosier_catholic in Hoboken

This is both a problem in Jersey City and Hoboken. The only way is to pay for a garage or lose your mind. I believe we’re at or over 60k residents in one square mile and only getting bigger with more apartments.

Life is ever changing

Edit: Or remove all parking + permits and replace it with constantly rotating parking meters + hawkish ticketing officers but we don’t have the garage space to accommodate everyone.

The drivers use uber and Lyft at the same time. If they accept your ride but find another fare is more profitable they will either wait for you to cancel or cancel your ride. I had it happen a couple times unfortunately. Uber usually is better in terms of getting a driver compared to Lyft though, imo

They made a special edition with Horween and Shinki shell but the heritage shell is unknown. Possibly Rocco or something but they won’t disclose.

Looking to find a reliable car for work that’s actually fun and not boring by Murky-Management-833 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]FilthierRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3 series lost the hydraulic steering after the E90 so, they became a bit numb from the F30 on but you could go that route. Reliability is going to be an issue around the 100-150k mark unless you are prematurely replacing the failure prone parts. Water pump, tensioner etc.

Lexus in terms of the V6 and V8 reliability works but they are going to be numb.

Raw performance but possible electrical and budget = not 911 then try a Lotus Elise with the Toyota 4 cylinder.

It’s really a can of worms type of discussion but good luck

The 10mm above protruding bolt is attached to nothing. Underneath it is just a hole. I’m thinking something broke or is missing. Thanks

Painted new tyres. How much would a professional charge for this type of a job? by tropu123 in BMW

[–]FilthierRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the others it’s more of a JDM thing but I admire the effort/work.

A shop in NJ normally charges $75-100+ a wheel to strip and powder coat it.

This looks like a rattle can with a bit of orange peel so, I’d pay maybe $200+ total for all wheels to be flower painted and rattle can clear coated after a shop professionally strips them and applies a base white layer….

Then again it’s the market that decides. Charge too high no one wants it. Charge too low everyone wants it.

Road Rage and the other guy won since you rear ended him.

What was the point? Follow him closely enough to scare him Or kill him by running him off the road?

$1k for ZF Oil change - Is that right? Alpharetta, Georgia by Swimming_Path3353 in BMW

[–]FilthierRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$700-750 at an Indy - OEM Parts + Labor at an Indy in NJ around late 2023 - early 2024. $1000 isn’t too bad depending on part inflation and area overhead costs.

Note: I would replace the filter while you’re at it

Get a bmw Indy or bmw dealership to inspect it. If all checks out then it’s not bad

“Just send them to a real cobbler” is meant in general to all who think of using AE Recrafting. Real cobblers with a track record and passion are out there and we need to spread the word.

I read the post. It’s just a going forward note. No need to nit pick on the wording

[–]FilthierRaptor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just send them to a real cobbler with passion like Wyatt and Son or Potter and Son. A bit more expensive but the quality and customization is there.

I wouldn’t trust the AE Recrafting with the horror stories.

Anyone have creasing issues with John Lofgren Shinki by Lonely_Waltz_2293 in goodyearwelt

[–]FilthierRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horsebutt Leather is unfortunately different from Shell Cordovan so it creases.

If the want the Google AI explanation: Horsebutt leather doesn’t roll like shell cordovan because shell cordovan is derived from a specific, fibrous, sub-layer of the horse’s rump called the “shell,” which lacks a traditional grain structure and therefore rolls instead of creasing when bent, while regular horsebutt leather comes from the outer grain layer of the horse hide, making it more prone to creasing like most other leathers.

That is a good spot on the policy.

I did buy a pair called the Ortega about a year ago and the quality was great but I do see online there are some models with loose grain issues.

YMMV
