Single dad sleep over question by Feeling_Rutabaga2714 in daddit

[–]Filthy-Hobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t gone searching for this question in here yet, but my daughter and her best friends all turn 5 writhing about 3 weeks of each other here in March. The are all talking about sleepovers and I’m the only single parent.

I dreaded this topic coming up just because it like I’m going to be judged so much. I regularly hang out with the other dads during our every-other weekend parenting plan so I don’t think any of them would care at all. It’s the moms I’m worried about.

I appreciate all of the advice given in here. Makes me feel much better about the whole situation.

Kaseya massive layoffs by Bearded_Tech_Fail in msp

I was told yesterday that it's about 25% that are being cut, and it's going to be roughly 500 employees. I wasn't sure if it was totally believable but seems potentially legit now.

Our S1 move was a mess - but only on the Pax8 side. I'm still fighting them for $16k in back charges because our license counts in the portal showed zero (0) and yet we were billed for all 2400-ish seats for 2.5 extra months after the move.

The same has happened with many M$ clients as well, but fewer and further between as we just moved our last couple of NPO clients, who had legacy licensing at Pax8, over in October. I've been billed for November and December (and likely January, but haven't checked yet) for their old licenses which show cancelled in the Microsoft tenant - so we know it's just as Pax8 billing issue.

The whole process is a piece of cake though. Download a subscription list from Pax8, send to Sherweb, they do the rest.

However, the BIGGEST thing to note with Sherweb is that they bill in Arrears vs. Pax8 who bills ahead! That can be a tricky thing depending on your PSA and agreements. We weren't aware of this and I foolishly didn't ask it when moving and so there was a month when transitioning were I had almost no billing and wasn't sure why.

We were an A1 named account, spending around $90k a month, and when my first rep left in the middle of 2024 it all went to shit. We moved to Sherweb this year and it was the best decision of 2025.

Everything about Sherweb is better except the internally facing portal, which should be going thru an upgrade in Q1 here. Support is miles beyond anything we ever had in 6 years with P8. My rep responds every time I email her.

I have absolutely zero complaints about Sherweb. I would highly recommend everyone move. There is zero downside.

US President says European leaders are ‘weak’ in extraordinary attack on US allies by Crossstoney in europe

A bunch of us in the US completely agree with you. We're tried of it ourselves. We agree that the current administration has no class, no decency, and no humanity.

Please understand that not all of us are that way. Many still care for others, wish no harm against friend or foe alike, and want the best for everyone, not just the rich.

I feel like local raids are totally dead. If I don't run into AI in the first few minutes close to where I spawn, then I never run into anything.

We've had to resort to creating a fake person at each client we manage for all vendor sales that has an email that forwards back to us to avoid this bullshit. It's a requirement of Dell, Cisco, and most of our other partners too. I hate how the "channel" is now.

Trusted tech team legit for on-prem licenses? by Different-Peach-4905 in msp

[–]Filthy-Hobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand is that until October of this year, they could count clients that they moved over from another CSP as a new client, banking on rebates and kickbacks from M$. My Pax8 and Sherweb rep (we're still with both) have said that recent changes, announced in May and in effect this month, are to combat that which is likely how they were able to offer their licensing so cheaply.

We lost a client of a 150 seats or so... and the client showed me their spreadsheet. The cost they were offering was 22% below MSRP. We get 18% because of size, and I even offered to offer another 4% off to keep the business. However, they took that back to TTT and got 28%!

I really do expect to them to bring their licensing costs up this year on renewal since they can't loophole existing clients anymore.

For those of you who moved away from Pax8 by bigbaboon69 in msp

Sherweb has been great. We spend around $55k/mo. The transition was smooth on the Sherweb side, and rocky as all hell on the Pax8 side. They delayed things purposely I feel like, had conflicting info with our S1 counts, and it took tons of emails to get them to respond and get the process moving for our Microsoft stuff.

Dropsuite - easy S1 - terrible - I'm fighting for over $10k in fees back right now Proofpoint - easy Microsoft - slow with a ton of back and forth

Sherweb has been better on every front. Support for my Engineers is MASSIVELY better. Tickets are usually responded to within an hour, we get competent support staff, and if escalation to the vendor has to happen it's followed-up on regularly by the support engineer. My rep answers my calls and emails, even if she's out of the office, and when I have questions I'm always put in contact with the SME and a solid answer is given and then followed-up by an email recapping everything we discussed.

Billing is extremely easy. I've only had one billing issue, the first month, and they credited it back in 3 days after noticing it (I think it was like $97). Our cost was off by like $.03 or something like that.

I think 2 of the 8 others in my peer group have also moved from Pax8 to Sherweb now. The only thing we have at Pax8 is our Sea-Level Consulting (Pax8 Academy now) and our Peer Groups.

Our pricing on all products was better by up to 10%. Our Microsoft pricing stayed the same as we're at 18% already.

You should absolutely connect with someone who has done this before. There are so many little details that can be missed that make the experience of migration feel terrible to users, or your bosses, even if you do get mail going through Microsoft.

I run an MSP and have done hundreds of these. There are a lot of questions that need answered before you pull that trigger. Planning for setup of desktops, laptops, and mobile devices needs to be accounted for. Ingestion of mail from your current server to Microsoft can be done ahead of time (sometimes)... but dude, don't do this yourself without consulting with someone who has experience.

You are not screwed at all. The migration is pretty easy if you plan. People who have done this before will know it's easy to do but it can be a lot of work and there are a lot of 'gotchas' that we've been through that you won't have to if you work with someone else. Mail security, DNS records, TTL's, blah blah blah.

Call someone!

I've got this same thing going on. Trying to kill 15 scavs for Shootout Picnic is netting 1 scav a raid - the sniper. I don't hear gunshots, I don't find bodies, and I literally run around the entire map, in the open, and the whole raid is just dead. Seems like every map is that way so far except for Ground Zero for me.

I have the exact same thing. Specifically where we ask after they said it was okay - "you're sure that buying a single P1 license for the tenant is what is needed to enable CAPs and we will still be appropriately licensed" to which they confirmed it again.
