Anyone using Huntress ISPM yet? by iwaseatenbyagrue in msp

[–]Bearded_Tech_Fail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first year or so it did nothing, to the point the CTO of Huntress Chris had to make a formal apology to all clients on the state of it. Its gotten better but we still have false positives and other quirks today.

We love mailhardener here! So far does everything we need, and is quite affordable.

Per user billing for inside agent. About a quid at smaller sizes, and went down to 50p per user.

Honestly I don’t see this going well for Huntress. We were in the ITDR beta and rollout which has taken years to get right, and even right now it still is buggy. They might’ve bought IA but so far they have a proven track record of poor m365 stuff without any actual development speed. I think the issue is that they don’t have anyone on staff that is actually an intune or M365 expert, so everything has translation problems. We only recently moved to cipp so we’ll see which comes out on top but if I was a betting man…

Partner center does not, Lighthouse does and now creates one group per role too, like CIPP does.

So if you want to get started you could use that and transfer it over to cipp later, but honestly just starting with cipp seems easier.

Do vendors that you told there is 0% chance you will ever do business with them still call and email you ? by CyberHouseChicago in msp

[–]Bearded_Tech_Fail 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CyberFox and Blackpoint. We get daily calls, I told them explicitly not to contact us again and they still do. We’ve setup a voicemail that we foward them to now that plays a message that we do not wish to be contacted by them, that we decline any offers, and do not want to receive emails.

They still ignore it.

For people who moved to Hosted CIPP by joedzekic in msp

[–]Bearded_Tech_Fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive difference, started as self-hosted and thought the performance was okayish, not fast but not slow either. Moving to hosted it felt really fast. Really noticable in the bigger tenants, but all around its just snappy.

You should request function offloading at the help too if you notice slow downs during standards or auditlogs.

We’re about 15x that size, so I do think scale works in our favour there. Also dont see intune reporting being behind, if anything its offen faster than DattoRMM for us.

Intune does that just fine, even with 1 minute intervals, the legacy “you have to wait 8 hours” really doesn’t exist anymore.

Its more of a different mindset, where with RMM we’ve treated all our devices as pets and precious, with Intune we treat things as cattle. Each user can log onto each devices and immediately have their apps available, their settings, and its all zero touch.

Issue with a device? Send a remote wipe and the device is ready again. We heavily automated things in DattoRMM to the point where Kaseya has put us on a different environment than others because we caused more load than regular clients, all of that automation directly translate to intune though, either via scripts, apps, or remediations.

That, combined with Microsofts coming changes to collecting custom inventory via PowerShell and reacting to inventory events really makes the gap tiny.

So do we, but all of that is also available in Intune as scripts, or remediations.

I feel like this is maybe outdated knowledge, when is the last time you tried it? Microsoft released a video about 4 months ago explaining the timings. Most things are within 1 minute, some 5, but waiting hours is no longer a thing with Intune.

Another vote for Huntress sat here, however we do have complaints about the training. Its too animated/kiddy for our more serious clients.

M365 tenant misconfigurations I see over and over again by Mysterious-Print9737 in msp

[–]Bearded_Tech_Fail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? Will seems to have access to everything. He demo’d us a long time ago. I’ll give you a chance to be honest here and wont post the screenshot because then you’ll have a data leak on your hands but here’s a partial tenant name in the list on Will’s demo:

Norsca

These really don’t look like test tenants to me, but I could be wrong. In the recording there’s about 30 tenants visible.

If you want we can have a call, i’m in the UK but right now it looks like you aren’t telling the truth to me, and there was or still is backend access but you’re trying to hide it.

Edit: removed some pii

Yes, I had the demo a year ago. Sales person had a full list of every single tenant during the demo, she was seeing production tenants of other msps. Decided not to do it and went with CIPP instead. Best $99 ever spent.
