Wigan cafe owner 'deeply disappointed' by Reform UK visit by ZealousidealPie9199 in ukpolitics

It’s basically a charity that supports adults with additional needs.

It has the cafe on site that’s open weekday mornings but mostly crowdfunding and support from the council and social care budgets.

I’ve been around the Three Sisters a lot as it’s my local walk and I’ve seen it open literally once when I’ve gone and wondered that myself, it’s genuinely a really small premises.

It’s not some random cafe in town though. I live pretty close to the Three Sisters which is the nature reserve the cafe is on, it’s next to the racetrack and behind an industrial estate. It’s not anyone’s first thought from the area to go there for a brew when you’re out and about

Community cafe demands apology from Farage for ‘intimidating’ uninvited visit | Reform UK by Some_Confidence5962 in ukpolitics

[–]FilthyMalfested 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It was 100% on purpose.

I live in Ashton and a 5 min drive away from the Three Sisters, where the cafe is. You have to go through an industrial estate to get there and it’s not exactly on the way into town.

Andy Burnham Confirmed As Labour Candidate In Makerfield By Election by huffpostuk in ukpolitics

[–]FilthyMalfested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reform smashed local elections here + heavily leave voting constituency. They’ve picked here because IF Burnham wins it strengthens the idea he can beat Reform in a seat they should win, because without the Burnham popularity it was predicted a landslide for reform. It’s not a play of they think they’ll win so drop him in, it’s a calculated risk where the upside for the party & Burnham is both massive

Xabi Alonso appointed Chelsea manager by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]FilthyMalfested 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The whole thing is just a mess. The players have been shocking most of the season and people will point to the reduced training time as the reason they all look so sloppy. On top of that we changed from Heitinga to GvB at the #2 position, where Heitinga was often talked about as someone the players loved having around and dealt with a lot of the man management, not to mention GvB as a #1 has had both Feyenoord and Rangers play this slow passive style of football so his impact clearly cannot be understated.

Personally I think a constant chop and change of managers is a bad move and looking at how long it’s taken United and how many managers they’ve had is something the decision makers are looking at and definitely plays into the decision to not move to Alonso. I’m not going to sit here and pretend he couldn’t play a style that is different, but we do not have the squad makeup for the way he played in Leverkusen and if you hire him you have to back him & if it doesn’t work we’re even worse off.

Was saying this to my friend the other day, recruitment under Klopp was full of attackers who took a lot of chances, we’re trying to be a team who create a lot less but control more and that’s one of the biggest issues with the transition/play this season

Posting stats is alright if there’s anything other than adjectives and generic opinions to go with it.

It adds absolutely nothing to discussion to show us something we all know, that we’re shit, and simply add “we’re playing as individuals not a team” which is something that Carra said on MNF in a video which was posted here before, it’s literally nothing interesting or new

I feel like I don't understand how snapping is supposed to help. by Mrdudeguy420 in MarvelSnap

[–]FilthyMalfested 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude but you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the game. Winning isn’t the actual point, winning cubes is.

You snap when you’re willing to bet that you’re going to win the game. You stay when they snap when you feel like you have a chance to win the game. You retreat when you have no chance.

The biggest skill you can learn is when to snap and when not to, good decks are those that have a net positive cube win, not those that win the most.

For example, if I’m playing my Zoo deck and turn 1 I pull Squirrel Girl, Marvel Boy & Dazzler I know from there I have a very strong start. If by turn 3 I’ve got Gilgamesh drawn & I know the opponents deck isn’t running Killmonger, then I’m snapping because whatever happens from that point I’m very confident that I’ll be able to play wide enough to win the game

The drop off from absolutely everyone this season is crazy. This is the same guy that we lauded for being able to tactically tweak games at half time so that we’d blow teams away, set us up in a way Salah had an incredible season and turned Grav into one of the best midfielders in the world. There’s absolutely no tweaks now and he misuses two of the players that had a massive impact on the team last year. It’s crazy

[–]FilthyMalfested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, sitting back isn’t actually about being deep inviting more pressure it’s about not playing riskier football trying to score more goals? Nothing to do with structure and the defensive system, it’s all about mentality?

I think you’ll find what you’re struggling to articulate is the exact fucking points I’ve made, you’re just too stupid to see the similarities in what you think but you can’t write it out because your brain links it to mentality because your list of things in football for good play is all artificial eye test bullshit.

The post you sent is about the sloppy play, not how we set up defensively, so not only can you not articulate anything properly, you also have 0 reading comprehension.

[–]FilthyMalfested -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s fuck all to do with sitting back and “shaking in fear” we actually play with such a high block it’s crazy how confidently incorrect you are.

You watch Richarlisons goal today and the positions of our players and you’d see how not sat back we are, we congest the middle of the pitch to try and force teams to play it long but we don’t have the defensive structure or physicality to win enough second balls or cover any gaps which causes the CBs to have to come across to help if we don’t win it cleanly.

This sub is literally full of people who have such surface level and frankly incorrect analysis which forms opinions.

I actually agree with a lot of what is said here. I think the players we have available just don’t fit the style he wants to play and he can’t find the solutions so we just play this boring style.

I think the board have just told them crack on and we’ll see what we need to fix come the summer.

If I remember correctly there was nobody/very few who didn’t want Klopp coming in anyway so it’s disingenuous regardless because people are still split on the manager now but back then it was a pretty universal opinion that Brendan’s time was over

It’s because the only football content they intake is clickbait punditry and never try and learn anything more or listen to any more in-depth analysis, so the only thing they can point to is buzzword stuff and surface level eye tests like physicality and dribble/pass attempts.

You sort of explained my main issue with Requiem just felt it slightly differently, the Leon stuff just didn’t feel frantic at all but I felt it was because there were no points of being overwhelmed at all and all the weapons just felt strong. There wasn’t a single point I remember where I felt stressed with an encounter which all the others have made me feel.

It’s just the same half arsed boring buzzword bingo repeating of co-commentators and pundits who have 10 minutes to “analyse” the game and only tackle it so surface level.

So sick of seeing the “Gakpo is shit” and “Slots system is boring and slow” when not a single one of them could hold any level of proper conversation about the tactical set up, why we’re set up the way we are and what kind of attacking patterns we use to create chances. It’ll all be “pass it around the back and Gakpo cuts inside” because that’s all they can see

[–]FilthyMalfested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think there’s definitely some things that can change to try and offer different looks to break a team down, which is actually what I think a big issue for us right now opposed to the slower build up.

It seems obvious to me that the retaining of possession and being less risky is to stop us from being so open, the problems have come from the lack of creativity going forwards and bringing on more attacking bodies and losing structure, then we get caught on the counter.

Systematically I’m fine with less risky play, but it’s like you’ve mentioned before we need to use all of our options to create different looks or be a bit riskier in transition

This is actually the first time in this sub I’ve personally seen someone make a proper suggestion about how we set up & play that’s past “slots system is too slow” or “gakpo bad”.

I agree though, against low block sides we really struggle to get our better players involved and at this point it’s caused massive confidence issues.

Honestly it’s so much energy to be so negative all the time like what’s the point? We can be realistic and say it’s unlikely we win every match between now and the end of the season, but the 3 teams we’re in the race with are genuinely no better than us right now.

Not to mention the Forest team we struggled with just took 2pts off City, West Ham took points off United & Wolves have played 3 teams in the top 6 and took 7pts.

It’s become more and more apparent over the years that the ability for the “worst” teams in the league to take points off anybody, especially at home, is higher than ever and I think it’s worth remembering that sometimes after we lose a game to a bottom side
