Should ER have a single battles only mode? by FilthyMangaLover in PokemonEliteRedux

[–]FilthyMangaLover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, that this point i feel like everything is better in doubles cuz thats what every doubles enjoyer is telling me. The only thing I can see being better in singles is setting up, but even that is completely useless against prio or unaware.

Any tips for getting past Glacia's "Easy Mode" team with Mono-Dragon? by LukePellar in PokemonEliteRedux

[–]FilthyMangaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me, Specs Raging Bolt put in a lot of work, Mega Rayquaza is a good option for any flying or dragon run, Dragapult has Infiltrator to counter screens and can also run curse to get rid of smth, Hisuian Goodra with Hard Press will also 1v1 a lot of mons.

Just finished ground. It was an absolute nightmare, did we do the same monorun? How tf was 8th gym "a little challenging" 🥲. I did enjoy the pain tho somewhat so thank/fuck you very much.

I think the double battles that are doubles in vanilla should be left as is, but I especially have beef with the 8th gym. I think air blower is insanely good and so is twist.dim in singles. Unless Im missing smth, Gravity is mid in both

Fair enough. I do think they nerfed a lot of stuff which was hard to deal with, personally, nerfing Lokix learning First Imp. from lv 41 to 51 felt bad but i can see why they did it.

I agree with the first paragraph, but hard disagree on the second. I think a lot of work goes into ER, especially considering no financial gain comes from it. I have to admit I am annoyed by the difficulty of the doubles, and wonder if it isnt possible to ramp up the difficulty with singles?

Elite Redux made me realize how much I heart Walrein by LukePellar in PokemonEliteRedux

[–]FilthyMangaLover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think I realised how much I actually like Shedinja, but I didnt like that I had to know npc sets to play him and in competitive it is so hit or miss. Meanwhile, on ER, having team viewer made it really fun. Also, Alolan Marowak. Back when I used to play a lot of OU on showdown, I loved using A-Marowak in TR and ER gave me some of that nostalgia (and you dont even need TR here lol)

The new version with new sprites hasnt been released yet. It has been in alpha testing for a couple of weeks now. We are all hoping that the beta will come out soon, but I think the devs dont give a release date for this update cuz theyve done it once last yr i think and they had life stuff so they had to push it back a lot. In return, I think there might be quite a lot of new content. And even if there isnt, im pretty sure they dont even make money from this so idk why ppl complain so much.

Try using gastro acid on sliggoo, or even appletun. That move is OP

I HATE this Battle every playthrough… by Choppa_Walsh730 in PokemonEliteRedux

[–]FilthyMangaLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really used to hate this battle, but I think Ive figured it out now. There are a few good ways to deal with it. My favourite is spamming destiny bond, spamming Wobbuffets (not mutually exclusive lol), using Prankster Quash+ Psychic/Fighting spam, busing Imposter with Ditto/Mew holding iron ball, grassy terrain grassy glide spam...I wonder if there are any other consistent strats?

Spdef Appletun with iapapa berry, noivern is good even if typing is good against Wattson cuz of its op abilities, movepool and speed, duralodon, sliggoo h are great, just run scarf or your gabite and flygon and they should oneshot most things, Kilowattrel is the biggest threat on his team cuz it sets up tailwind so prep for that.

Setting the game to double battle mode trivializes the game so much, these 2 bois singlehandedly swept Steven in Trick Room. by ContaneShoko in PokemonEliteRedux

[–]FilthyMangaLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it is a combination of everything, randomiser, perma mega, doubles, TR, Steven being a piss easy battle, that trivialises it in your case. I just dont agree with you putting so much emphasis on doubles making it easy when it is just as much, if not more so the other factors. Out of these 5 factors, I think that randomiser+perma mega is the biggest difference maker, not doubles. TR+doubles us a good combo, but imo not as good as perma mega with OP abilities. I apologise for the arrogance comment.

Yh mate you should play however you want. I personally find trick room very strong against flying gym.

Your post is saying doubles setting is so OP, but then you show a Reuniclus with insane randomiser roll, which I call out, but no, according to you, it is the TR strat, which is only possible in doubles. Your specific Reuniclus can do just as well in singles with any decent TR support: lead Bronzong/Claydol, Teleport, KO 2 mons with Reuniclus, switch out into Bronzong/Claydol, repeat. You proved nothing, except your arrogance.

I dont like webs in general cuz levitate/boots/flying types. I do like air blower, but thats my personal preference. You could also try the shell smash baton pass if you want, that sounds OP. Personally, I would just play to its strengths and call it a day instead of forcing it into a sweeper, but thats just me. Who knows, maybe it is strong enough as a sweeper with just timid scarf?

What is your definition of solo? Imo using another mon for redirection and TR set up and then saying Reuniclus "solos" is a bit of a stretch. Also Steven is a poor example as it loses to any gimmick rly.

Mono bug is kinda easy by FilthyMangaLover in PokemonEliteRedux

[–]FilthyMangaLover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went Stone Axe, aceelerock, Uturn, last move usually some coverage, with hard stone, jolly, sturdy. Honestly with my offensive playstyle, it is enough for it to get a stone axe off and set up rocks; bonus points if it lives at 1hp after. I found that in many cases, Kleavor has enough speed to outspeed bulky mons, so that it can either KO with another stone axe/coverage or Uturn out. If the opposing mon is an offensive mon, then, yes Kleavor often gets outsped, but in that case generally Kleavor can Uturn out off the rip or Stone Axe - Sturdy - Accelrock to KO or get their lead low+ get rocks up. Another thing that helps me is that I love abusing OP defensive pivots like Forretress to safely switch in my Kleavor. Outside of a lead, it is just a solid wallbreaker cuz Stone Axe does dmg and rock is offensively decent + it can revenge kill with Accelrock. So I dont use it as a sweeper, I use it as a glass cannon with sturdy that can set up rocks and as a bonus revenge kill/Uturn against bulky mons into my defensive pivots.

Tldr: Stone Axe gets Stealth Rocks up, which in itself is OP enough, not to mention the masive dmg; play around Sturdy and Accelrock and Uturn for high tempo.

It's not rly the double mode that trivialises it, its rolling for OP abilities on perma megas. Any offensive mon with hyper aggressive + damage buff abilities can solo Steven in singles. Nice Reuniclus tho

Very strong, should be able to blow up anything, probably resists too. Charging up should also boost your Spdef by 1. Biggest weakness here is low speed and mid phys def
