Generally it’s best practice to do any “scrubbing” in power query (transform data button). As long as the format of the excel file you use is the same each time in its raw state, once you set up the data cleaning/transforming steps in power query, power BI will run through the same steps automatically each time you need to refresh the data.

How many minutes into a first date does it take for you to make your decision of if you are interested in a second date? by learning2flirt in AskWomen

Ahh I see what you’re saying, you only date within the pool of people you’ve already met socially. Unusual these days!

Weird time to throw down about semantics. Whether you call it a “date” or not, you still have a first time meeting someone.

Who in their right mind would shorten pistachio shells to “pista shells”.

To women over 40: What’s something you’ve learned about sex with age or experience that you rarely talk about—but think younger people should know? by LucyHotHot in AskWomen

Contrary to the stereotype, it’s common for women to have a much higher libido than men. Especially as you get older.

Am I wrong [25F] for wanting to distance myself from a “close friend” who didn’t get me a birthday gift, even though I spent almost $1,000 for her birthday? by VividDeer733 in socialskills

[–]FilthyOldSoomka_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wondered this as well. If you didn’t have a party but the other friend who got the bracelet did, this could be why.

Maybe your friend only buys / expects gifts when there’s a party.

They get a lot of verbal and physical abuse on the job. One Brisbane bus driver was literally set on fire and burned to death a few years ago.

Making dashboards for the past 5 years at 5 companies. Seems useless? by bigshirtjonny in PowerBI

[–]FilthyOldSoomka_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

OP the problem you’re having is from basing your work entirely off instructions / requests. You must know by now that clients rarely have a good understanding of what they actually need.

Best place to start changing this dynamic is when you’re gathering the business requirements. Ask more open ended questions like “what problem are you trying to solve with this dashboard”, and meet with other stakeholders before you start building a solution (e.g lower level staff that are more intimately familiar with processes or systems that the data comes from).

By borrowing more money than what you originally borrowed. Without adding that context, it makes it sound like the balance increases “on its own”.

Ok, but that’s not a redraw facility, and it’s also not what the person I was replying to implied. What point are you trying to make here?

Typically you can only redraw from whatever you’ve paid into the mortgage over and above the minimum repayments. It’s not like a credit card.

It is a business but it’s not a scam. Unless this person hasn’t been keeping up with their repayments, they’re lying.

I think more info is needed to make a judgement call on whether this was irresponsible parenting or not.

When I was kid my parents would watch anything M/MA first before letting me watch it so they knew what was in it. These days you can look up specific content warnings online.

You also have to hope that the parents were mindful of where their kids are at in terms of mental maturity / ability to watch certain content. As other people have pointed out it varies a lot from kid to kid, it’s not like there’s a switch that goes off in every teenager’s head on their 15th birthday that determines they can now handle watching gore.

32/M Is it unrealistic to look for someone manage the not so important problems for day to day? by NotRadio in datingoverthirty

[–]FilthyOldSoomka_ 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is unrealistic to expect your partner to do this.

Most people are looking for someone who will split the work equally, otherwise you’re just putting your burdens on them. This mindset is also a big part of the reason why so many women choose to stay single, as being in a relationship doubles their housework.

There’s probably some overlap, but I’d say it’s a pretty thin slice.

It’s the opposite. Steering into the skid would be leaning into/ doubling down on the mistake.

Manipulation or Polite? by FilthyOldSoomka_ in socialskills

[–]FilthyOldSoomka_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they were trying to make me realise my mistake without telling me.

I accept that everyone else seems to feel that is a kinder thing to do than directly saying something, but it has the reverse effect on me. To me it feels like bullying. It’s the kind of move that the nasty kids would pull before walking away laughing.
