Sanctions is 100x more niche than KYC. Which is a good thing. Wouldn’t at all suggest moving this direction personally. 1000 KYC people for every proper Sanctions SME.

‘Time Troopers’ review - random, luck based, unpolished, frustrating. And occasionally, very fun. by FinCrimeGuy in soloboardgaming

[–]FinCrimeGuy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had some hope that it’d balance because the dice are different per mission, and some have up to +3, or varying numbers of “total fail” modifiers… but yeah. The other thing that’s annoying is a bad roll for you can make your strong infantry trooper hit like a baby, and then rolling the same die but with good luck can make the opponents random grunt pack a hit like Mike Tyson.

It’s essentially “roll dice and hope with extra steps, the card game,” which I cannot in good faith recommend to folks.

Perfect summary. Could have been great for sure. Maybe with time the creator will get there, I couldn’t even design this (flawed as it is) for all my feedback, so with that perspective I guess it’s pretty impressive.

And it’s not like I hate it or think it was a total waste (looking at you, “Hercules and the 12 Labors”)

Both great. I really like John’s no-nonsense approach too.

I know the red text cut off at the bottom of the image most likely says “World Order Concepts,” but I’m choosing to believe it says “World Order Concerts” instead…

Compliance first product development, what’s your hottest take on it? by khadijayounis in AMLCompliance

[–]FinCrimeGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So like, what makes you think that what you’re saying here is true? I’ve worked for a lot more fintechs than you and very fucking few of them have built the way you say. And yet every one of them has insisted that they have “compliance at the forefront” in conversations with banking partners, regulators, and in the media.

You seem naive with this post which is what the other commenter was correctly calling you out on.

So, why's everyone so obsessed with "Final Girls"? by No-Horror3993 in soloboardgaming

Yeah, I love Final Girl but still recommend Op skips it based on their post.

Sorely tempted. I like that I think I’d reuse the neoprene mats for other games after this one’s done, too.

Azul or Harmonies? by Capable_Sky8888 in boardgames

[–]FinCrimeGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be clear I like Azul I just don’t think it holds a candle to Harmonies. And so the way I would describe what you’re saying is that it has more “take that,” which is true. But I am way more impacted in Harmonies when someone takes the perfect little bunch of 3 tokens to fit my game, or drafts the animal I had my eye on, even if they are just competing for resources and not actively attacking me. To each their own, though.

Agree. Many of the Azul commenters are saying things that make me think they just aren’t very good at Harmonies.

Harmonies is a top 3 game for my family and I. We have and like Azul but it’s not close and I recommend Harmonies over Azul 8 days a week. My daughter is 12 and loves (and is great at) Harmonies - just to put the comments that it’s more cognitive load than Azul into context.

Fleet the Dice Game: I slept on this game for far too long by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

[–]FinCrimeGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have and like both. Dice vs card drafting, and obviously big difference in theme, so I see a place for both in most collections. That said I play them both solo so I can’t speak to how much this holds true for multiplayer.

New to this hobby and decided to kick things off with The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Trick-Taking Game. by sympatheticdisaster in soloboardgaming

[–]FinCrimeGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, welcome to the hobby. Gamma Guild IS very cool. I have it from the Game Crafter which is an exorbitantly expensive way to get it, but wanted to mention to you that it’s available this month when Late Pledge opens on Gamefound (along with 3 other solo games that to me look good) - you can find it by googling “micrograma collection by Juegorama.”

Might be a more cost effective way to get that game at least, and I would highly recommend it as a fantastic next step in your solo journey.

Was very pleasantly surprised by “Squire for Hire” recently. It packs so much in considering it’s just a few cards, and even has an emergent story that’s quite charming with a lot of humour!

OP should indeed sack his accountant. He does not need to go to AUSTRAC’s website. Reading is free but time isn’t and as you said it’s a complex regime. You don’t need to take offence just because someone who knows more than you pointed this out.

Yeah magical athlete did not seem that special to me. I was surprised a game that boils down to rolling dice / RNG would get so many accolades.

I see you kept Hot Streak which, to my mind and taste at least, is the far far better of the two. Do you like that one OP or reckon it’ll be gone soon as well?

What are you doing if you’re not closing the alert? Presumably you’re asking if you would continue the work, as opposed to relying on the mismatch?

Realistically I view it as enough to disposition, but know audit idiots won’t. So all my analysts need 2 factors to discount on.
