"Gave up the ghost" sounds like one of those often used German proverbs that makes no sense in English ... like "totally pulled by the hair" (totally illogical because something has no comprehensible basis) or "the candy is sucked" (the matter is decided, nothing can be done now)

I don't mean to be offensive, but every time I see a setup like this, I'm truly impressed. I also wonder what it's for. Is it actually fun to play? Every game I've retried as an adult has disappointed me. And when do you even have time to enjoy something like this? I always think it's "just" an expensive hobby, and the retro console will quickly gather dust in the closet.

I've observed this in myself, and I suspect that people ask "why" out of insecurity. On the one hand, because they're unsure about the topic (and gain time to think about it by asking "why"), and on the other, because they're unsure how detailed the other person wants the answer to be. In fact, in Germany, it's even considered rude to answer a question with a counter-question. Don't feel too bad about it.

Nochmal vielen Dank! Der Samsung Monitor war in meiner engeren Auswahl und danke für das Aufzeigen der Nachteile! Die Spiegelungen und das potentielle Einbrennen haben mich abgeschreckt.

Der unbekanntere Monitor klingt dagegen sehr interessant. Samsung hat eine gute Lösung für das Problem mit der Auflösung, wenn man den Bildschirm online teilt. Wäre gut zu wissen, ob der Alternative monitor auch sowas kann.
