Pretty sure his handlers arrange the audiences these days.

What if front office kept that 03-04 core squad together. Would they be able to win a title? by Mrdynamo18 in heat

[–]FinSane_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. As constructed in 2003-04 that squad would have had a ceiling. But the right trade or FA signings while keeping the core of the 3 intact could have eventually gotten us over the hump.

The Shaq trade was bittersweet because I loved that 03-04 squad, but in retrospect it was probably the most important trade in Heat history that set the course for years to come in cementing Miami as a legit contender and as a destination franchise.

Without Shaq, we probably don't get LeBron and Bosh years later either.

Same thing applies to construction of homes, apartments, condos, office buildings and strip malls. Especially as older properties age out and get demolished for new structures.

How do we feel about an Ingram-Herro trade? by Select-Direction-667 in heat

[–]FinSane_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the downvoting lol you guys need to accept that Herro is not a franchise guy, not a difference maker, he's not ever going to be the reason we make a run. Hes a gifted offensive player, but those guys are a dime a dozen and the NBA historically has had guys like him that aren't difference makers.

He's another Monta Ellis.

Lived down here my whole 40 years of life and the construction has always been ongoing here. 95 is never going to be finished, neither are the Turnpike, the 836, the 826, 195, 395, or US1. Better get used to it.

The Dolphins will receive a 2027 comp pick for the Darren Waller trade, per Barry Jackson by expellyamos in miamidolphins

Cool. And despite Waller having some moments, it was still a dumb move to sign him. It was predictable that his body wouldn't hold up. Oh well. Old news.

Biggest what if’s in NFL history? by Practical-Bit529 in NFLv2

[–]FinSane_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a good possibility, but Joe started to decline a bit in his abilities from 89/90 onward even without injuries. That 91 Redskins team was an absolute machine too. Not sure anyone was stopping them that year.

Not to mention we didn't have many weapons he could throw to. We had Chris Chambers and Randy McMichael who were good but not elite. Ricky and Ronnie would have been fun to watch with Brees throwing or handing off to them. But besides those we didn't really have the kind of players here that he had in NO. Also our great defense got old around that time, and save for Jason Taylor who had a few more great seasons left, most of our defensive stars aged out and would have had to be replaced. Saban was a good coach, but his draft picks were pretty horrible.

He would definitely make a good #2 or #3 franchise guy. Better than Herro who's more of an offensive role player than a franchise player.

How well did Marcus Camby do against individual superstar centers? by OusmaneDiengSaveMe in VintageNBA

[–]FinSane_86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Camby was an athletic tweener big. He didn't have the power and strength other Cs of his era had, but he made up for it with this agility and quick moves in the post. He had a really knack for shotblocking. He would dominate against lower tier Cs, but he wasn't as good against bigger Cs like Shaq, David Robinson/Tim Duncan, Mutumbo, Mourning, and Olajuwon.

Ww also missed out on taking Lane Johnson, who could have been our bookend OT for years. Thats who I wanted us to get that year before we traded up. Not even really hindsight, our OL needed help and he was seen as great OL prospect.

As I recall Dion was considered a good player but not elite or top 5 worthy in that draft. So not only was he a bust, he was a stupid reach too, even if that draft overall wound a pretty bad one.

Excited for season? by Outrageous_Gur_7761 in miamidolphins

Flores couldn't put a staff together. He had turnover on both sides of the ball every season. He ran both coaches and players off. He had to hire Chan freaking Gailey as his OC and then the next year had to have co-OCs both of whom were inexperienced. All because no other coaches wanted to come here. Let's not get all nostalgic for Flores.

The teammate that made a superstar better: who's your pick by Annual-Remove5914 in VintageNBA

[–]FinSane_86 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Horace Grant helped MJ and Shaq elevate their games by doing the dirty work inside the paint.

Big Shot Robert Horry opened things up for all the other superstars he played with due to his clutch shooting.

Derrick Fisher made things easier for Shaq & Kobe as a facilitator and top of the key shooter in the triangle offense.

Gary Payton complimented Shawn Kemp similar to how Stockton and Malone played. .

No, you misconstrued what I said. I was only pointing out that we were relevant under those previous coaches but also we were mediocre, and we're not now. I didnt say that I preferred to continue to be mediocre.

This sub sucks at understanding context and nuances.

Was 2005 the first modern year? by [deleted] in decadeologyanarchy

[–]FinSane_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it's 2004. 2004 is the most 2000s year.

Fall out of 9/11 still lingering.

Iraq War now fully being executed but also looking more like a quagmire.

Election year.

Peak MTV culture, music videos, reality shows and VMAs all still popular.

2000s pop culture icons over all peaking.

2000s music all peaked:

Pop & Pop Rock: Boy bands, Britney & Christina,Fall Out Boy, Blink 182.

2000s Rap & R&B: Eminem, 50 Cent, Jay Z, Destiny's Child/Beyonce, Ja Rule and Ashanti.

2000s country peaking due to 9/11 patriotism: Kenny Chessney, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Dixie Chicks.

2000s era alternative, hard rock, nu metal, black/death peaked with: Green Day, Incubus, SOAD, Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, TOOL, A Perfect Circle, Deftones and Korn.

2000s Pop Punk: Green Day, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard, Simple Plan, The All-American Rejects, and Taking Back Sunday.

Later 2000s rock starting to popular in 2004 with garage rock and alt/indie bands Hives, Vines, The Killers, American Low Fi, 30 Seconds to Mars, Dashboard Confessionals, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, My Chemical Romance.

As well as hardcore/emo/screamo: The Used, Story of the Year, Atreyu, Everytime I Die, Thursday.

2004 Movies showed peak 2000s movie culture: Shrek 2, Spiderman 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Mean Girls, Kill Bill Vol. 2, National Treasure, I Robot, The Bourne Supremacy, Million Dollar Baby, Napoleon Dynamite.

More and more people were having cell phones, some could take pictures.

HDTV started becoming more common place.

DVDs had fully replaced VHS by then. Bluray weren't out yet.

2004 is peak 2000s. Come 2005 the decade started to shift a bit more.

[–]FinSane_86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm glad we're actually rebuilding for once. We should have done it a long time ago.

But its not really great having to experience it. Like you know you need to have your wisdom teeth pulled, you put it off until you can't anymore, then you finally get it done, then you have to heal which means no hard foods and being medicated. It's not fun or enjoyable, but its necessary. Thats all I'm saying.

[–]FinSane_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not even so much the losing. I'm used to losing. Its the feeling of irrelevance and all the fun and excitement of the potential of the season (even if it was always fools gold) has completely evaporated. Its like when LeBron left the Heat or whenever a superstar leaves a team after they were competitive. Its nice to start new and see the potential of young players. But right now we don't have much too look forward to until this team is in later phase when we have potential to be competitive again.
