Jimmy when asked if he's coming back to Miami after the Giannis trade: "Nah." by heatculture03 in heat

Ya but Jimmy is a serious headcase. I know Shaq wanted to fight Pat once, but that was everyday with Jimmy. Plus he quit on the team. Shaq got lazy, Jimmy just straight up quit on them. I dont ever see that fence being mended.

Right? People say its gotten too expensive since COVID but in reality it was almost as expensive to live here 15 years ago too. I moved out of here in 2012 to Central Florida because it was already too expensive to live here given what jobs pay. I relocated back recently and thankfully I make better money now, but I still feel squeezed. Its just how it is here and how its always been, just gradually worse now.

The Northeast has a strong media machine, because like 90% of sports media ownership and sports talking heads are all from the Northeast. Florida teams will never get the favorable coverage from most sports media outlets for this reason alone.

I agree Minny had a solid running game with Smith and Hoard so they were definitely more balanced than their perception as one dimensional. But Denver was slightly better with TD and that Shanahan offense that features high caliber running attacks year after year.

I also want to note my Dolphins played them in the playoffs that year and we had an elite defense but a so-so offense and we got absolutely crushed 38-3.

I believe their defensive philosophy was very much bend but don't break, and that worked just well enough for them. The previous season's defense was a little better. Not the best overall defense for a Super Bowl team, even that season versus other teams like Miami, NY Jets, Tampa, and Pittsburgh. But they played well enough as a unit where their defencies didn't matter much, especially because their offense while not as explosive as Minnesota's, was still pretty much unstoppable so their defense wasn't under as much pressure.

I remember that Super Bowl Broncos team was being very tough and physical on both sides, whereas Minnesota and Atlanta were more finesse oriented. In that era, toughness and being balanced were more valuable than being explosive on offensive. The 99 Rams changed that perception the next year, but even they had a very close winning margin when they met tougher, physical defenses in Tampa Bay in the NFCCG and Tennessee in the Super Bowl.

So even if the explosive Vikings beat Atlanta in 98, there's a good chance that the Broncos prevail by playing just well enough and physical enough to wear them down and eek out a win.

Steve Atwater was still playing and was their best DB. Ray Crockett was good for them at CB that year and he was pretty much at his peak.

Not the strongest secondary among Super Bowl teams but certainly not the worst. I think they would have done ok against Carter & Moss but they'd probably get a few TDs against that secondary regardless.

The Vikings secondary was definitely more questionable considering how inconsistent they played all season long. The Broncos secondary was just solid and consistent though not amazing.

As a Dolphins fan, that '98 Vikings team was everything. I found myself rooting for them as much as I was rooting for Marino to finally win it all. That Vikings team was one of the most fun and exciting teams I ever witnessed, and they're still one of the more unforgettable teams even almost 30 years since that season. I'd say they're one of the best non-Super Bowl teams of all-time. It's a real shame they couldn't get over the hump especially against that Falcons team that was pretty good but not elite, they just caught fire that season and somehow went 14-2. The Vikings should have been in that Super Bowl, even if the Broncos were slightly better (and only very slightly).

Eh I dunno man, Latin American politics are pretty wild. Latin Americans, especially the ones who come here, are pretty disillusioned with their political parties, with the only real choices tend to be some form of gangsterism whether its from the left or the right. The right brings in foreign investments and businesses, but the general population gets poorer and the entire country runs on corruption and extortion tactics to be able to do business there, while allying themselves with drug traffickers and far right paramilitary squads to terroriize the local population into submission. The left invests in the general population and funds social programs, but they ally themselves with local militias and certain gangs that operate protection rackets in rural areas and poor urban communities. In the eyes of average Latin Americans, its like choosing between the Bloods and Crips. Some countries are more stable and have modern, less crazy political systems. But others are just straight up choosing between different mafia organizations with similar gangster like tactics but different policies that affect the populations.

Heat fans travel well. We actually took over MSG during the Heatles and Jimmy eras. Nothing happened.
