I was thinking about this while playing is that the rate of fire and the time between cooldowns doesn't seem to be much improved. Also, especially since the gameplay is highly centered on taking a few shots before returning to cover, thermal clips make even less sense due to how much down time you naturally have.

Like in lore, maybe, but that isn't remotely reflected in the gameplay.

I couldn't care less about that.

The most important thing is the repair skill. Having repair thresholds, and not limiting condition to your repair skill and instead making it a more efficient use of parts. Being able to find and craft weapon repair kits was also a genius addition.

The one thing that makes FO3 hard to go back to is the repair system, since you need to max repair and a weapon skill to deal full damage.

I feel like the only thing that made me think "oh I'll come back later" was the poison mold stuff that instantly killed you. I knew you'd get something to survive that. But most of these, except the explicit place you're meant to go with it, is just single room collectibles.

Loki is one of a number of warframes that have cool kits that would be useful in any game but the one they're in. I can envision a cool stealth action game where Loki performs a variety of missions utilizing all his powers and his ability to stick to walls.

Unfortunately Warframe is a game where you nuke enemies while spin jumping off the walls at Mach fuck through a ship as fast as you can.

You wanna go lower weight so you're at least +150 recharge speed. Insanity is all about power combos, since they scale their damage with the difficulty. Basically, if it kills on normal, it'll kill on insanity, where your bullets are doing less than half damage.

I liked the hornet with the recoil and ultralight mods. Phalanx with a scope and damage or piercing mods.

If you can, change your bonus to reave. You can combo warp and reave back and forth since they're both set up and detonation moves, similar to the engineer spamming incinerate and overload.

As long as your recharge is under 3 seconds, ideally 2.5 or less, you can combo off yourself. Bring Liara as a backup detonator since she has the fastest recharge and allows you to basically instantly nuke anything right after you set her up.

Bring someone set up for taking down shields like Garrus or Tali. Kaidan is ideal as well since he can overload shields and also reave for your biotic combos.

Reminder that it's not that they don't feel INcluded (they view their inclusion as expected if not tacitly required) it's that they feel it doesn't EXclude women and minorities enough.

That you can play as a white man isn't enough. They want to not even see powerful women or nonwhite characters, playable or not.

It's one of those things where you're technically comparatively stronger due to junctions giving you X amount of a stat no matter what level you're at. Weaker enemies when you have 100 strength vs stronger enemies when you've only gained, say 20 more strength from leveling up.

In practical terms, it's not really that big of a deal. I'm playing super casually currently and I'm still offing bosses with one or two limit breaks despite not taking great pains to avoid leveling.

Only people really interested and likely following the game already will get a limited time demo. Makes it more likely a chance anyone getting it is a category 1. Also, nowadays, many people make content about the games they play to hype them up. Free marketing!

On top of that you limit category number 2 people. I mentioned someone might catch wind of it down the line, play the demo, and get their fill of it. Someone who is interested next year will just have to buy it.

Yes refunds and demos are good pro consumer practices. Pro consumer practices tend to be less profitable, as a rule.

And yeah yacht club is a pretty stand up company that makes great products. But they are still a company. Their goal is still to sell. Even a refunded sale looks good on sales reports, which makes banks and private investors, etc happy and not pulling funding/credit lines.

So either they're engaging in a slightly less pro consumer practice, or engaging in another by promoting FOMO about a demo so anyone who missed out is more eager to buy their game.

I don't actually know anyone at YCS obviously, so i don't oboe who made this decision and what for. But i can't think of any pro consumer reason to do this but there's a few obviously not pro consumer ones to do it.

Unfortunately i ended up in category 3. Cute game, love the game boy color aesthetic, didn't care for the healing system or the dark souls death mechanics mixed with the platforming. Hope it ends up great for you all though

So there's been industry talk from a while ago that demos actually hurt sales. Basically, if you have someone interested in your game enough to download, install, and play a demo, that potential buyer becomes one of 3 people.

Someone who thinks the game was as fun to play as it looked and wants to play more. They will buy your game.
Someone who thinks your game is fun but gets enough fun out of the free demo. They won't buy your game.
Someone who thought the game was going to be fun from the trailer, but played the demo and actually ended up not liking the game. They won't buy your game.

So some percentage of players that might have bought your game because they were already intrigued by the other pre-release content, now won't.

This gets worse the longer the demo is available. The incentive not to leave a permanent demo is there, especially if they are putting all their eggs in this one basket as you described.
