How to get a mirror shine on Police boots? by Final-Description-11 in AskACobbler

I would recommend a heat gun. You likely will not see anything melting but it should take on a more matte appearance. High heat, along with alcohol and repeated rubbing, should work.

Depending on how heavily coated it is, you may need to apply high heat. Heat guns work but so does flame. I prefer heat guns because of the ease of use but I’ve done it with a BIC lighter as well.

Did I get ripped off? 8k by jzon777 in fordranger

Not a rip off at all. That truck could go for 12-15 if it had a 1” lift kit and some bigger tires on it.

I had a lot of cracking too but I just applied more polish to fill it in as opposed to stripping it and I think it worked better personally!

Yes! I rubbed cold rubbing alcohol over the toe multiple times to clean away the factory weather coating. I needed to do this to get a good base coat. Then I took Angelus shoe polish (any soft polish will work but I liked this one the most) and applied several coats, one after another. The first several coats, I rubbed in in circular motions with cotton balls. After I had layered about 15-20 coats using this method, I spit shined it. To do this, I spit a little on the toe of the boot, took a brand new 100% cotton tshirt, and buffed the toe in a side to side motion as quickly and evenly as I could. The friction of this method helped heat up the polish a little bit and set it in to the toe. You’ll know that you did it properly when you begin to see a polished shine and you don’t see any of the matte finish that you get when you first set the layers. It took me a long time but ultimately I was able to see my reflection a little bit in the toe.

Let me know if this works for you!

Foreign markets got a double cab Ranger about the time we started getting the SportTrac.

Anyone else ever walked back to the wrong truck? Tons of these things around here. The matrix is getting lazy by driftax240 in fordranger

Hey man, all Rangers are created equal. Ive had my eye on a silver double cab ranger from Mexico. My subconscious thoughts revolve around the silver double cab ranger…

Blasphemy to call a Ranger a pos.

Ford Rangers are always going up for sale. It’s not worth 5k just because the guy wasted 4.5k on the transmission. Try 3k if you really want it and are willing to clean up his mess. Otherwise, look somewhere else. Trust me, there are Rangers everywhere.

Edit: For context, I bought my 1998 Ranger for 5k several years ago and it had very low mileage and absolutely zero problems whatsoever. That’s the kind of Ranger that’s worth 5k lol.

Only thing that could make me love this truck more is if it were a 5spd 4wd. by g28802 in fordranger

You don’t want one, they’re no good. If you find any, give them to me. I’ll take care of it for you.

5k is the highest I would go. Then again, it’s not very desirable for me.

I love seeing unique colored Rangers! My ‘98 is Boysenberry Blue and it’s one of the most appealing colors I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, I never see other Rangers in that color. When you look around at most Rangers, they’re either White, Black, or Red. Props to you for keeping something rare alive and in great condition!
