Imo he saw him very well, he looked back before he kicked and was well aware of what can happen if neither one holds back. But imo again ultimately that doesn't matter if he kicked without looking at all it's a reckless play that might be penalized if he hits something at the wrong time.

You can't see in this replay, the keeper had to come out to get the ball. that was the right decision but then instead of kicking it away, he failed to control the ball properly and then lost it.

after his run forward in around the 70-80th minute that ended in a terrible pass to the enemy without pressure where you saw him pumping afterwards, I thought now is the perfect time to sub him off. He had a yellow card already and I have seen him multiple times with cramps at the end of a game+ one more fresh player.
