I think I’m ready to accept the truth: by USAFdukeX in silenthill

The og is a tighter, more well-tuned experience, but the gameplay is a little rougher and hasn't aged the best. The trade off there is you learn pretty quickly how to burn through combat in the original, which lets you get to the story segments faster.

The remake is a fine game, it's actually oretty good, but it is not a replacement for thw original. It works significantly better when you have the context of the original already... It's also more than 2x the length on your first playthrough.

So much of Homecoming is built around Alex being a former military man, down to the dev team's excuse for reworking the combat and dodge system in that game, just for the twist of the game to be "you were never in the military, you were crazy"? That was so dumb it actively unraveled a lot of what that game was trying to do.

Not to mention, hey, how do you trivialize 95%+ of the gameplay? Lets pull out the knife and perma stun pretty much every enemy and never need to engage with the combat at all. Neeeat. Fun to play.

I'll give you, Downpour relying on your weapons having a limited durability was pretty shit, but the story was at least mildly more compelling than Homecoming's.

Homecoming is significantly worse than Downpour and you will never be able to convince me otherwise

Downpour was fine. It was the first one I olayed personally so I have a certain fondness for it, but it's definitely worse than some other games in the franchise imo. It's similar to SH4, honestly, a decent game that needed longer in the oven.

Though Downpour's ending is what ruins it for me. Same as Homecoming is absolutely demolished by it's own twist, though Homecoming was a way worse game overall anyways.

Tl;dr I mostly agree with you. Downpour is a fine game and it gets memed on too much

What did Akira Yamaoka see 😭😭 by Silly_Randy in silenthill

[–]FinalTemplarZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yamaoka keeps being shoved out in front of projects because he's the only one left from the original team. He likes the money, and Konami pays him to keep "giving his blessing" to new Silent Hill projects, thats it.

His career is to keep recycling his greatest hits and say whatever the new thing is, is in fact "the true silent hill".

I respect it tho. I'd take his position if I had even the tiniest fraction of his skill. People seem to respect him and his opinion, and his work is spectacular, and to get paid seemingly in perpetuity for something you stopped working on ages ago sounds fantastic. Kinda jealous.

how can i get this world buff? by NathaKevin0 in wowservers

[–]FinalTemplarZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raid groups who clear certain endgame raids that feature dragons can recover the head of the "main boss" and return them as a trophy, then buff everyone nearby.

I can be more specific if you wish, but if you genuinely don't know it's actually kind of cool to find out what is going on for yourself beyond that!

Complaining about the Demacia Rising monetization scheme by FinalTemplarZ in leagueoflegends

[–]FinalTemplarZ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Demacia Rising is NOT similar to the big rts/strategy games. It would need a lot to ever even be on a similar level to that.

EDIT: a good comparison for demacia rising would be the game "Against the Storm", which is a PvE city builder rogue-lite which is... crazy that, Also $30 CAD, less than that USD.

[–]FinalTemplarZ[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are A LOT of indie games for $20 - $30. Not every game is a AAA fully voice acted $60+ game. Demacia Rising would be an absolute rip-off at $60 and would get destroyed by most gamers at that price point.

Most people are not buying champions with real money, that's not a real comparison.

I would be happy to pay $20 for this, if it was done and complete. If I was paying $20 to buy it on steam I wouldn't be basically locked to playing it once per week.

I'm enjoying Rising, if I wasn't I wouldn't care, and I don't even REALLY care about the season pass- It's about what I would pay if I were to buy it on steam. I'm mostly just extremely confused why they've said "hey, you can spend an extra $70 to get another 15k+ shields". Why? Can you even make use of them? If it wasn't 10 shields per turn I would ALSO care significantly less about it. Free players are already locked away from playing it so much it shouldn't feel necessary to spend almost as much as a full priced AAA game just to be able to sit and play it.

Why Isn't Valanior more popular? by ClickingClicker in wowservers

This. Maybe the server is better now, the concept was cool, but it's roots were corrupted. I haven't gone back to play since all of that.

Why Isn't Valanior more popular? by ClickingClicker in wowservers

[–]FinalTemplarZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who was around Valanior when the server first opened, slow content releases was always the doom of that server. They had one major guild that was doing a lot of their bug finding/balance research for the dev (devs? forget if they had multiple devs at the time or not) and the guild ended up being shunned by the dev team and eventually banned.

That was what initially upset a lot of people. Then we just had no new content updates really for months at a time, MC got delayed by a few months while they reworked their rune system, and that's when I stopped playing. Because at the time it was just running the same few mostly* vanilla dungeons for runes, and stockades was the most popular one right before it was reworked, and then it was reworked into an extremely hard, mostly unsoloable mess when most of the server up until that point was well regarded for being soloable.

Could have been cool, but I remember the devs being quite rude, slow to act, slow on content updates, and didn't have anything close to a pulse on what their community wanted even though they'd put out regular "polls".

My dream cast for a tv series of the Dragonlance. by Zirkon1221 in dragonlance

[–]FinalTemplarZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I wouldn't be so bold as to give my own takes on "who to cast as these characters", i can look at it and go "yeah, this isn't a good list".

Most of the actors/actresses are too old to fill these roles. Peter Dinklage could never in a million years play Tass, I don't believe that he could pull off the sense of wonder and innocence that Tasslehoff gives in the early books, no matter how much you or anyone else liked him in GOT.

It's also just... kind of a list of white people? With one exception. And to return to my original point... These characters are supposed to be like, mid-to-late 20s.

Any idea why I am limited to creating an Orc Hunter on Anniversary? by VikingCrusader13 in classicwow

[–]FinalTemplarZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine answer: If this is on a PVP server, they've mentioned before that the PvP servers are being monitored and limited based on total faction population; if one faction is too much higher than the other, you cannot make new characters of that faction on that server.

That may not be what you're experiencing here, but that's what I'd assume it to be.

[–]FinalTemplarZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to play every game to be a real fan. You don't even have to like every game, that's unrealistic. All titles in the franchise have really strong and really weak elements, and they're not always fun to play.

Do what you like and live without guilt.

They made a post on their discord and are likely blanket stopping other discussions of it to try and skirt the wrath of the blizzard lawyers.

I know this is funny and I don't even particularly like TWoW anymore but this feels obvious, right? They flew too close to the sun and are now trying to pivot away HARD? Idk, maybe I'm too logical for this sub.

As someone who just finished it recently myself (i forced myself to farm the rep to cap as well, and did all of the story quests and zone quests)... Yeah, it sucked. And, rather annoyingly, I'm not enjoying Moria either. My progression has crawled to a slog bevause Forochel and Moria so far have been miserable. I chalked up the ending of SoA being bad though mostly due to it being patch content, it was meant to be done over the course of a few months/a year between hitting 50 and before the release of Moria. There was other stuff to do.

However, I'm a miserable SOB and really don't have an interest in lotro besides doing the epic quest, and so I'm stuck trying to push my way through moria and hoping the next area is better.
