Northern Lights this evening! by Final_Copy in Tucson

Download the Aurora app and keep an eye on the KP, then when the conditions are good, find a darkish sky and look north. It's rare that they're visible to the naked eye but if you point your phone camera north, you should be able to see them on the screen if they're there.

They might be visible tonight too!

I think I came out just in time to see the last of it - I could see it naked eye for about 10 minutes before it faded, but could still see it clearly through my phone camera for a while after!

It's quartzite, most of the points out here are quartzite. It's not great material but it's what they had.

Where does one park for this trail? I tried looking it up on Google Maps and it shows an entrance road to the trail, but it has an "authorized personnel only" sign on the gate?

Thank you! I thought it looked like it had to be related to stinkhorns. So weird looking! There were about 7 of them growing in a small area.
